Chapter 47 47

Emile 卢梭 162Words 2018-03-18
True happiness consists in bridging the gap between our desires and our abilities, in bringing our wills and abilities into balance.Only when all power is used can the mind be at peace and one feel above one's true place. The nearer man's situation is to his natural state, the smaller is the difference between his abilities and desires, and the nearer is the distance from happiness. He suffers no more if he has nothing, for he suffers not from lack of things but from a need for them.
