Chapter 25 Synthetic speech style

The second method has been refined by many great speakers, especially those who are forced to discuss a variety of subjects on a daily basis. These people often write down the speeches they have written, but write the speeches in a small book and put them in front of them, turning a few pages at a time. They felt it would be safer to have ballast against the wind—but that was ballast, and though it offered little resistance to the ship, it would in any case hinder her swift and free sailing. Other speakers use lighter ballast and will have a longer outline in front of them after memorizing their written speech.Others will rewrite some important parts of the speech and memorize them--the opening, the conclusion, some important arguments, key examples--and the rest will depend on time. This method is very suitable for speaking with notes or speaking without script.

Some speakers read only the most important parts of their speech and leave the rest free.So the so-called "method of comprehensive speech" is different from person to person. It is up to you to choose the method that works best for you based on your personality, the occasion, the topic, and your audience—because all four methods have their own requirements. Whichever method you choose, don't be daunted—choose the best method, no matter how much time and effort it will cost you.One thing is for sure: only experienced speakers would expect their speech to be concise and persuasive, elegant and powerful, with style and passion.
