Chapter 22 quotation

human weakness 卡耐基 725Words 2018-03-18
As I taught adult classes at night school, I realized that worry was another significant problem for these people. Most of my students are office workers—executives of all stripes, salesmen, engineers, accountants, and most of them have problems. There were also women in the class—careerwomen and housewives. They are not exempt, and they have their problems!Apparently I needed another class on worry.I tried to find some books to refer to.I went to the public library on 50th and 42nd Streets in New York. The funny thing is, I didn't expect that there were only 22 books with the title "Anxiety".However, there are 189 books on "insects", which is almost 9 times that of the former.

It's strange, isn't it?Since worry is the greatest enemy faced by human beings, you must think that every high school and college should have a class called "How to Overcome Worry"?Or is there such a course in some university, I just never heard of it?It's no wonder that Xi Bairui, the author of "How to Worry Correctly", said: "We are never prepared to deal with stress, so it is often like asking a bookworm to dance a ballet." The results of it?More than half of the patients in the hospital are hospitalized due to diseases caused by tension and emotional distress. Therefore, I am more interested in the anxiety in human nature, and continue to explore its mysteries.

I have taught students a set of principles for overcoming anxiety, asked them to go back and apply them, and then return to class to report the results. There are also some students who report that they have used some effective methods in the past. I can presume that I am the person who has heard the most "overcoming worry" talks in the world. On top of that, I've seen hundreds of "overcoming worry" experiences -- some people have sent me, others I've won in class. In short, this class is by no means from the tower of ivory, nor is it an academic lecture on how to overcome anxiety, but a report that records thousands of adults overcoming anxiety.Definitely a practical class.

The French philosopher Valerie said: "Science is a collection of successful practices." In these successful cases of overcoming anxiety that stand the test of time, I believe you will find some uncommon methods. In fact, you and I don't need to learn any new concepts. What we know is enough to guide us to enjoy a happy life.We all know what it means to be human, and our problem is not ignorance but inaction.
