Chapter 45 The hardest thing to deal with is worry

I found that in my boxing career, worry was harder to deal with than any heavyweight fighter I had to deal with.I knew I had to learn how to get rid of my worries, or it would greatly sap my vitality and sabotage my achievements. To this end, I have drawn up a system. Here are some of them: 1. In order to keep enough courage in the game, I always say some words of encouragement to myself. For example, when I was playing against Fobo, I kept saying to myself: "I am invincible...he can't beat me, his fist can't hit me...I can't get hurt...no matter what happens, I can Go forward.” Self-motivational words like these keep me in a positive state of mind and help me so much that I don’t even feel the opponent’s fist attacking me.In my boxing career, I've had a broken lip, a bruised eye, a broken rib, and a punch from Furbo knocked me out of the ring and landed on a reporter's typewriter, crushing it .But I didn't feel Furbol's punches—I never felt any punches—maybe once, and that was when Lister Johnson broke three of my ribs with a punch.Dare I say, I've never felt a single punch other than that.

2. I keep reminding myself that worrying is harmful and not beneficial. Most of my troubles appeared before participating in the competition.I often wake up in the middle of the night, tossing and turning, unable to sleep, full of worries.I was worried that my opponent would break my hand, break my foot, or hurt my eye in the first round, so that I would not be able to do my best to play offensively. At times like this, I always get out of bed and look at myself in the mirror and say, "You're such an idiot for worrying about something that hasn't happened yet and probably never will. Life is too short to have a few years." Live, you should enjoy it to the fullest."

I would continue to say to myself: "Health is the greatest asset in life, and nothing is more important than it." I kept telling myself that insomnia and anxiety are the biggest killers of health.I found that when I kept talking to myself every night and every year, this kind of thought gradually penetrated into my heart, and I could easily eliminate all my troubles. 3. One of the best ways to relieve worry is prayer. No matter on the training field or on the field of competition, I always pray before the bell rings every round. It gives me great confidence and courage.
