Wang Taiji (1906-1934), a native of Lintong, Shaanxi, was one of the founders of the Northwest Red Army and the Revolutionary Base of the Shaanxi-Gansu Border Area. In the spring of 1924, with the help of Wei Yechou, a member of his production staff, he actively participated in revolutionary activities. In May 1924, he was selected to study at the Whampoa Military Academy in Guangzhou, and joined the Communist Party of China in the same year.After graduation, he was sent to Kaifeng, Henan Province to join the Second Army of the Kuomintang as the platoon leader of the Xuebing Battalion. In 1926, he was transferred to Zhen Shoushan's Department and served as the battalion commander of the student battalion and a member of the special branch of the Communist Party of China.Actively carry out revolutionary activities, secretly develop party members, and participate in the Northern Expedition.

After Chiang Kai-shek rebelled against the revolution in 1927, he resolutely implemented the spirit of the "August and Seventh" meeting of the Communist Party of China and led his troops to stage an uprising in Linyou, Shaanxi, which unfortunately failed.But he was not discouraged, and continued to persist in the revolutionary struggle. In April 1928, he participated in leading the Weihua Uprising and served as chief of staff of the Northwest Workers' and Peasants Revolutionary Army.After the failure of the uprising, he sneaked into Zhaoxian County, Henan Province, and secretly carried out revolutionary activities.Soon, he was arrested by the Kuomintang authorities.

After he was released from prison at the end of 1930, he served as the staff officer, deputy brigade commander and chief of staff, director of the recruit training department, and head of the cavalry regiment in Yang Hucheng's army. In July 1933, he got in touch with the party organization and led an uprising of more than 2,000 cavalry regiments in Yaoxian County, Shaanxi.The uprising force was reorganized into the "Northwest People's Anti-Japanese Volunteer Army" and served as the commander-in-chief.A week after the uprising.Due to the hasty organization and the poor foundation of the party in the army, they encountered a strong enemy attack in Sanyuan Luluba. After a day of fierce fighting, they retreated to the north. In the end, only a few hundred people remained and retreated into the Zhaojin Revolutionary Base.After the Red Second Regiment failed to go south, the Weibei guerrillas also formed the Red Fourth Regiment to operate in the Zhaojin area, and the Yaoxian guerrillas also retreated to Zhaojin at this time.

On August 14, 1933, he participated in the Chenjiapo meeting. After the meeting, the three revolutionary armed forces were combined into the temporary general headquarters of the Red Army on the Shaanxi-Gansu border, with Wang Taiji as the commander-in-chief.Together with Liu Zhidan, he successively commanded the Shaanxi-Gansu Border Red Army to capture Xunyi, Taishui and other counties.In November of the same year, the temporary general headquarters of the Red Army on the Shaanxi-Gansu border was reorganized into the 42nd Division of the 26th Army of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army after the Baojiazhai Conference in Taishui, Gansu. , Create a new revolutionary base centered on Nanliang.

On January 8, 1934, he disguised himself and entered the White Area, preparing to go to the Henan-Shaanxi border to mobilize Shandong Liu Heiqi (Liu Quantang) troops to participate in the revolution and carry out military operations. Ma Yuncong, the head of the regiment, was betrayed, arrested and taken to Xi'an.Before his execution, he was awe-inspiring and regarded death as home. At the last moment of his life, he wrote "Desperate Poems", "Desperate Words" and Wanyan "Tuan Dun Baptism", which showed the revolutionary heroism of a Communist Party member. On March 3, 1934, he died heroically in Xi'an at the age of 28.To commemorate Wang Taiji, in August 1951, a memorial pavilion and monument were built in Xi'an Revolution Park.Chairman Mao Zedong wrote an inscription on the Monument of Resentment: "Wang Taiji sacrificed his life in the revolutionary struggle, made great achievements, and will live forever!"
