Chapter 2 Preface to the second edition

A book, published two years ago.For the reprint of this book this year, Peking University Press decided to discard the old paper type and rearrange the new edition, regardless of the difficulty in cost, and print it as a reprint.This greatly improves the appearance of the book, and the author is very grateful.For this reprint, the original plan was to use the old version, but due to the difficulty of revision, changes were limited.When I heard the news of the rearrangement of the new edition, the typesetting was almost completed and it was about to be printed, so I had to add and revise the proofs.Time is short, the author can only do his best.

Some of the changes in the reprint are to replace the original inappropriate materials and incomplete arguments, and some are to correct the omissions caused by the copying, typesetting and proofreading of the original manuscript; some of the changes only involve words and sentences, and some are supplements to large paragraphs.Of course there are deletions as well. In the "Preface", it was said that the politics of the clan is the politics of the gentry, and there is a similar reference in the main text. This formulation is prone to ambiguity, and it has been deleted in the second edition.

After the publication of this book, book reviews have been published in mainland China and Taiwan, and comments from colleagues at home and abroad also come from time to time.The author is very encouraged by this, and I would like to thank the reviewers and fellow scholars for their interest in this book.The book reviews have corrected the defects of the book, and most of them have been revised, supplemented, and adjusted in the second edition; some suggestions and discussions involve major issues, and there is no time to think carefully, so they have to be reserved for future research and reference.
