Chapter 4 Section 4 My Self-taught History: Father

my life is endless 梁漱溟 1134Words 2018-03-16
The first series of my autobiography Section 4 My Self-taught History: Father Two, my father It was entirely my father who made my self-study.So it is necessary to describe my father as a person and his education to me. My father was a man of integrity, not a man of genius.He does not have extraordinary talent in learning; he is not good at doing things with talent.He is as loyal and loyal as his mother; only he is careful and careful, and honed in a hard life, he seems to be much more capable than others.He is quite shrewd in heart, but rarely seen in action.The most unattainable thing about him is that his charm is super vulgar, he refuses to follow the vulgarity, but he has a warm heart and a chivalrous body. Because he is not a talented person, his thinking is not detached.Because of his honest nature and meticulous intentions, he is serious in everything.Because of his heroic spirit, his behavior is only correct, not rigid.He valued merit the most, and inevitably neglected knowledge.The words of the predecessors, "Don't be ashamed of bad clothes and bad food, but ashamed of everyone, don't be rewarded by it", just pointed out my father's heart and soul. ——My original thinking and life were influenced by my father, which is also the way (championous, serious, not detached). My father is completely lenient to me.When I was young, I only remembered that my elder brother was beaten, which is also very rare.In my entire memory, I have never had one.But I don't seem to be the child who "should not be spanked".I am both stupid and stubborn.He also seldom taught us harshly.I was influenced by my father, not by many lessons, but rather by hints.In front of my father, I didn't feel a kind of spiritual oppression at all.He never addressed children or young people with a serious air.I went to school very early, so I didn't learn from my father.

Around the age of ten (seven or eight to twelve or thirteen years old), most of the education received by his father is the following three items: one is to tell operas. Father likes to watch Beijing operas on weekdays, that is, he tells his children the stories in the plays.One is to go out to the street with you, buy daily necessities, or do some trivial things; the meaning is to practice managing things and understand social relationships.One, many injunctions concerning hygiene or otherwise; children are always to know how to take care of their bodies.For example: When you are sweating, do not take off your clothes;

Do not sit in windy places, such as windows, doorways, aisles, etc.  Do not drink soup that is too hot or too cold, and do not eat too much food that is too dry or greasy.  Insufficient light, do not read. There are so many advices or pointers like this, and they don't relax anytime and anywhere. I still remember when I was nine years old, a small string of money I saved (the copper coins used at that time had small holes, for example, were threaded through with twine), suddenly disappeared.Ask everywhere and make noise to people, but you can't get it.The next day, my father found it on a peach tree branch in front of the court. He knew that my family had forgotten it, so he didn't reprimand it, and he didn't ask me to come and see it.But he wrote a paragraph on the note, which roughly said: I was playing under the peach tree, and I hung a small string of money on the branch and forgot it.Asking people everywhere, making a lot of noise.The next day, his father cleaned the courtyard and saw the money hanging on the tree, so he gave instructions.The child begins to know that he is confused.

After writing, hand it to me to read, and don't make a sound.I saw it, and immediately realized it and ran to check it out. I couldn't help but feel ashamed. ——That is to say, this matter can also be seen in the education given to me by my father.After the age of fourteen, I gradually had my own thoughts and opinions in my chest, which were either expressed in words or acted upon.My father thought it was good, so he encouraged it explicitly or implicitly. If he disagreed, let me know that he disagreed, but he never interfered.At the age of seventeen, eighty or nineteen, he still did not interfere with some matters of great importance, but listened to me.It was in his non-interference that I achieved my self-study.Those cases will be described later.
