Liang Qichao was very smart since he was a child. He finished reading "Four Books" and "Four Books" at the age of four or five; at the age of six, under the guidance of his father, he graduated from the Five Classics. "Gu Wenci Lei Zhuan" and so on; at the age of 9, he could write a thousand-word article; at the age of 12, he was selected as a scholar, and at the age of 17, he was selected as a "Wizard of Lingnan". It is said that when Liang Qichao was born, a white light suddenly flashed in the delivery room, and then the fetus came out of the mother's body.By the time he was young, he had outstanding intelligence, quick response, and strong memory. He could dictate sentences from the Four Books and Five Classics to him, and he could never forget them.Once, he went to Sanjiang Dongsheng Street Bookstore to buy books. After choosing a book, he negotiated with the owner, but the owner refused to reduce the price. Liang Qichao said: "It doesn't matter whether I buy this book or not. Anyway, I have read it." It’s over, I can recite it from beginning to end.” The shopkeeper thought he was bragging, so he opened a page in the book and said, “If you can recite this page, I will give you this book.” As a result, he said nothing. Don't miss out.The shopkeeper also kept his word and gave this book to Xiaoliang Qichao.

One day, Liang Qichao climbed a bamboo ladder to play. His grandfather was afraid that he would be in danger, so he hurriedly told him to come down: "Come down quickly, come down quickly! You will fall to your death." Liang Qichao didn't come down, and continued to climb another level, and blurted out: "Someone is on the flat ground, look I'm going up the ladder." Grandpa couldn't help laughing happily. When Liang Qichao was 7 years old, there was a visitor at home.At that time, Liang Qichao rushed into the house sweating profusely from playing outside, and was about to drink a large bowl of cold boiled water, but was stopped by a guest. The guest wrote a wildly cursive word "Dragon" for Liang Qichao to recognize. After Liang Qichao looked at it, he shook his head to express that he didn't know him.The guests laughed.Liang Qichao ignored it and drank the bowl of cold boiled water in one go.The guest laughed and said, "Drinking tea and drinking water." Xiao Liang Qichao quickly said, "Writing dogs rake the fields." Liang Qichao's sarcasm made his father very embarrassed, so he wanted to punish him, but the guest hurriedly stopped him and said: " It's really amazing that the young master answered neatly and thoughtfully."

When Liang Shiqiu was young, he slept with his grandfather. Every night, his grandfather taught him a section of "Chu Ci", and Liang could recite it the next day, and within a few days, he could recite the whole text. Many years later, when he gave a speech at the Middle School Attached to Southeast University, he recited "Chu Ci" without missing a word. In 1882, Liang Qichao, who was 10 years old, went to the provincial capital to take the examination of scholar, and walked with other candidates. From Xinhui to the provincial capital, it takes three days to travel by water. The boat was full of students rushing to take the exam, and the elders were forty or fifty years old.One day, all the students ate white rice and steamed salted fish on the boat.Someone proposed to write a poem on the theme of salted fish.Salted fish is indecent, and it is difficult to put it into a poem. However, Liang Qichao immediately shocked everyone when he recited the two sentences "After the Taigong went fishing, the jelly lifted the first salt".Jiaoge sells salt, and salt is added to fish to make salted fish. This time, Liang Qichao was not admitted as a scholar. Two years later, the 12-year-old Liang Qichao went to the provincial capital to take the exam again, and was selected as a scholar. Liang was the youngest scholar at that time, so he was known as the "boy scholar".

When he was 10 years old, Liang Qichao followed his father to visit the scholar Li Zhaojing's home.Seeing that the apricot tree in Li's courtyard was in full bloom, he secretly broke off a branch and hid it in his sleeve. My father didn't point it out after reading it.At the banquet, his father said to Qi Chao in public: "Before the banquet, I will publish a pair of couplets first. If you can match them well, you can raise your glass. Otherwise, you can only pour wine and tea for the elders, and you are not allowed to sit down." The first couplet said: "There are flowers in the sleeves, and the boy hides the spring."After hearing this, Liang suddenly realized that his father knew about his broken flowers, but he didn't panic, and said casually: "Hanging a mirror in front of the hall, my lord can see clearly."As soon as the couplet came out, there was endless applause in front of the hall.Li Zhaojing clapped his hands and exclaimed: "Let me also come to test my nephew, 'Push the cart out of Xiaomo', how about it?" Liang Qichao immediately said: "Ride the horse into Chang'an." Everyone praised him repeatedly.

There is a Lingyun Pagoda on a certain mountain in Liang Qichao's hometown. When he was a child, Liang Qichao and his friends climbed up the Lingyun Pagoda to enjoy the scenery. One day, 11-year-old Liang Qichao wrote a poem "Climbing the Pagoda", which said: "Climbing the Lingyun Tower in the morning, leading to look at the four poles, climbing the Lingyun Tower in the evening, the sky and the earth are getting dark. The sun and the moon are dark and bright, and the four seasons are cold and hot. Why are there so many changes? No one understands this truth. I want to ask the sky, but the sky is always silent. I want to ask Confucius, but Confucius can’t explain it. Wandering alone, scratching your head, this time is finally rare.”

In 1885, Liang Qichao entered the famous school "Xuehaitang" to continue his studies. After Liang Qichao entered school, he studied assiduously and worked hard to find out that "the four seasons are the first in the exam". In the history of Xuehaitang, only Wen Tingshi, a talented scholar from the south of the Yangtze River, has this honor.Liang is awarded a "scholarship" by the school every year.Every time he got a "scholarship", he went to buy books. At the same time, Liang Qichao also went to Jupo Jingshe, Yuexiu, Yuehua Academy and other academies to take some courses. In 1889, Liang Qichao, who was 17 years old, took part in the provincial examination in Guangzhou and won the eighth place in Juren. He is the youngest Juren and can be described as a "juvenile Juren".

In 1895, Liang Qichao failed the examination.According to Hu Sijing's "Guo Wen Bei Cheng": the chief examiner who presided over the Yiwei (1895) subject examination was Xu Tong, a bachelor, and the deputy examiners were Qixiu, Li Wentian, and Tang Jingchong. After Li Wentian saw Liang Qichao's test paper, he wanted to admit Liang Qichao, but the quota was full.Xu Tong still had some flexible admission places in his hand, so Li Wentian and Tang Jingchong asked Xu to give him a place to admit Liang Qichao. But Xu Tong didn't like Liang's draft drawing Gu Yi, who went too far, and refused to allocate a quota. He also criticized Li Wentian for protecting his fellow countrymen in Guangdong Province.Li had no choice but to "suppress but not record" the Liang volume, and commented at the end of the volume: "The Pearl of the Emperor Huanjun weeps with tears, and I hate to meet when I was not married." After that, Liang Qichao disappeared from the examination room. "When he was the main writer, he even criticized the imperial examination system for killing talents.
