Wu Mi's diary became evidence of Wu Mi's "reactionary" crime. According to Tan Youxue, a professor of classical literature in the Chinese Department of Western Normal University who squatted with Wu Mi in the "cowshed", recalled: In the summer of 1968, the struggle between the two factions became tense again. The "revolutionary masses" suddenly took a "revolutionary action" against Wu Mi.His "reactionary diary" was copied. This can lead to a catastrophe. Not only asking for trouble, but also implicating us.He said in his diary that asking middle school students to rebel is equivalent to giving children a knife to play with, and there is nothing that does not hurt their hands. The "Cultural Revolution" was "personally initiated and personally led by Chairman Mao".This is not one of the counts of blatantly opposing Chairman Mao.The diary says that "Yao Wenyuan is under the protection of Jiang Qing", which is a vicious attack on the "Cultural Revolution" of the Central Committee, "Comrade Jiang Qing" and Yao Wenyuan. The second count. There are places in the diary where Chairman Mao’s speeches on literature and art are said, and he does not fully agree with them. He is "outrageous" and dares to "sing a different tune". The third crime.During our "study", the supervisor is sometimes absent, so there are unavoidable discussions about the pros and cons of certain matters between the two factions. He also records it in his diary, and the record is "some gentleman cloud". "Ghosts and snakes want to turn the world upside down, that's okay," so we were ordered to gather somewhere in the morning.Several "braids" from other departments were severely beaten, and chickens were killed for the geese to see.We were scolded badly.Wu Mi was probably saved from being beaten because of her old age, but she was declared an "active counter-revolutionary" and was strictly supervised. It is also said that "comrades from both factions agree, and the Ministry of Public Security has approved Wu Mi to wear this hat."Now it really has become a "heap of shit that despises human beings".

In mid-June 1968, the two factions of Southwest Normal University fought again. After the Chunlei Rebel Corps who drove out August 31 seized power, they held a meeting to criticize the former party secretary Zhang Yongqing. Wu Mi's diary recorded: "All kinds of criminals including him There are 16 faculty members (all of whom were respected, favored, and sheltered by Zhang Yongqing) in total, lined up on both sides, accompanying the fight (suffering the same struggle). " During the criticism meeting, Wu Mi was beaten continuously. The students beat him with bamboo sticks, branches, or throwing small stones. When they were taken into the venue, "others hit him with bamboo sticks on the head and shoulders (the most painful at this time)". , "The girls sitting in the first row frequently hit Mi and the others with bamboo sticks on the top of their heads."After the denunciation meeting, Wu Mi returned home, "Tell Tang Changmin (the female domestic worker employed by Wu Mi) with the resume. According to the watch, it is 5 o'clock on the eve of the lunar new year. The calendar is only 3 to 5 hours in total, and in front of the stage Bow down and stand, and you will feel that it is long and long! Press again, since Mi beat her grandmother once in the winter night of 1904, she has never been whipped in her life like today!" Wu Mi has no relatives around him, and every time he is beaten, he I can only confide to Tang Changmin. The next day: "Tang Changmin applied medicine to Mi's wound (the point below the left shoulder blade, the complexion is red and swollen, not broken)."

On June 21, Wu Mi was injured again at the criticism meeting. It was raining heavily that day, and the student took away the straw hat he was holding and threw it away. After returning home, Wu Mi told Tang Changmin about the situation: "Tang Changmin led a neighbor boy into the auditorium to find Mi's straw hat, but he didn't get it." The medicine soaked in wine (the name of the medicine is Hongyouke ointment, which treats bruises), and Mi Yi wipes and washes the wound with a cotton towel." On March 6, 1969, Wu Mi was gathered together with other downed teachers in Liyuan, West Division, to live a "collective control life", forcing them to confess their crimes and expose and criticize them. On April 24, Wu Mi and others were forcibly moved to Liangping (West Normal School) to concentrate on the so-called "struggle criticism".Before going to Liangping, Wu Mi applied for "staying in school for labor in old age and infirmity", but was not approved.

On May 9, at the second meeting of the Chinese Department of the Liangping Branch School to criticize Wu Mi, the two students who escorted Wu Mi into the venue violently pushed him off the high platform, causing his leg to break.Wu Mi, who had a broken leg, was not treated in time, but was forced to kneel on the ground to undergo "three hours of struggle".After the meeting, Wu Mi was "half dead" when she was taken back to her residence.Afterwards, Wu Mi "had pain all over his body, and was in a coma, as if he hadn't drank, eaten, or defecated for two days." In this case, he was still forced to write confession materials and accept criticism. It was not until June 21 that Wu Mi returned to Beibei with all the staff, departed by truck (on a luggage bag) at 7:00 am, and arrived at the West Normal School at 8:00 pm.

After her leg was broken, Wu Mi could only crawl around asking for a few sips of water and food.Sometimes, there is no water or rice.Once, he was trapped in the work shed and shouted out the window: "Give me water, I am Professor Wu Mi. Give me food, I am Professor Wu Mi." When he recovered from his broken leg, he was arrested again. Assigned to do tasks such as sweeping toilets, brushing urinals, and scraping excrement. On November 30, 1969, Wu Mi wrote in the "Report of the Mass Work Group of the Chinese Department of Shangxi Normal University": "Mi is now seventy-six years old, and his leg is so injured that he cannot stand or walk, that is, he is indoors. Crawling, and occasionally lying up and turning, the leg joints also hurt unbearably. Therefore, I can only live in room 203 of the second house of this cultural village, and I need the service of female worker Tang Changmin."

On November 28, the teachers and students of the Chinese Department of Western Normal University held another meeting to criticize Wu Mi. "On December 4th and 13th, I took Mi twice to the tennis court and the playground, where I was accompanied by other ghosts and monsters. Both times, Mi (due to a leg injury) suffered great physical pain." The article "Wu Mi's Last Years" describes Wu Mi's experience: Wu Mi was locked in a dark room, interrogated and struggled day and night, and there were red guards guarding outside the dark room.Wu Mi had been locked in a dark cell for a long time, feeling dirty and itchy all over, so she had to ask the guarding Red Guards to take a bath. The young general Hong replied: You old counter-revolutionary want to take a bath, it's easy, I'll take care of you. After a while, another little red general came with a bucket of cold water, and the two of them clasped hands together and stripped off his clothes, pulled him off the bed, and stood on the muddy ground. Brush, pour cold water on Wu Mi with an enamel basin, and then beat Wu Mi with the brush. It was the early spring season in the cold winter, cold water froze into his heart, Wu Mi was trembling all over, and then the brush brushed his body randomly, until Wu Mi knelt down and begged for mercy and cried, the red young general poured the whole bucket of cold water over his head, saying that it was for He "lifted the pot to give the top".Wu Mi cried and said that the young general Hong would punish him, but the young general Hong said that it was not a punishment, if he wanted to be punished, he would have to cut off his ears and nose. They asked Wu Mi if he wanted to be punished, but Wu Mi had no choice but to kowtow for mercy and thank the young general Hong, thus saving his ears and nose.

Once Wu Mi was lying on the bed and wanted to go on a hunger strike to seek death. The young general Hong scolded him, "The hunger strike is a rampant counterattack against the rebels, the Cultural Revolution, and the great leader Chairman Mao..." Afterwards, he called several male and female Red Guards. Wu Mi pressed on the bed, plugged a rubber tube into his nose leading to the esophagus, and then poured a large bowl of shog water discarded in the kitchen. The mixed food in it made his stomach swollen and filthy, and his brain was smoked. Sour tears flow, unbearable pain. The young general Hong told him that this is called "nose feeding".After four days of "nose feeding", Wu Mi could not survive or die. It was not until he agreed to buy food with his own money that the Red Guards stopped this inhuman "nasal feeding"...

So far, there is only one sigh and two lines of tears! Wu Xuman recorded Wu Mi's experience during that time in "Reminiscences of My Brother, Professor Wu Mi": Since I couldn't take care of myself, I had to hire a nanny, and he (Wu Mi) had only 30 yuan for living expenses at the time, so how could I pay for the nanny fee? Save money, subsidize him 20 yuan a month. The brutal persecution and torture caused his health to deteriorate. In the spring of 1974, I went to Chongqing Southwest Teachers College to visit, and my brother and sister wept when we met.Seeing that he can't even meet the minimum standard of living, he only has two or three sets of clothes, thin bedding, cloth certificates, and cotton coupons.A padded jacket with a blue cloth surface has thirty-six stitches on it, which shows how old it is, and it hurts people's hearts. After I returned to Jingyang, I rushed to make cotton-padded clothes, cotton trousers, quilts and sweaters and sent them to the college.

In the summer of 1975, I went to Southwest Normal University again. He had a disabled leg and was unable to walk. He suffered from cataract in one eye and was blind. Life was even more difficult. I decided to persuade him to go home with me, but he insisted on not agreeing and told me that he had saved Twenty-six copies of "Wu Mi's Anthology of Poems" were "stolen" in less than half a month. What is particularly infuriating is that some people took his books during the "Ten Years of Turmoil". After knowing that his salary was restored, he charged tens of dollars for returning one or two books. , the monthly salary is paid out. After repayment of wages, apart from repaying some foreign debts and helping a few needy students, most of them were spent on redeeming the books that were taken away. The brutal struggle and ruthless torture made his nerves almost lose control. These people have grasped the characteristics of his love of books, so they deceive him like this.Even an imported watch worth several hundred yuan in his hand was "exchanged" by two rascals from the Chongqing Steel Factory with a small alarm clock worth only six yuan.He was often defrauded of tens of yuan or even more than a hundred yuan.
