Home Categories Biographical memories Talking about Great Literati in the Republic of China: Those Masters of Thought
He Ziquan, a famous historian who once worked in the Institute of History and Philology of the Academia Sinica, once made such an evaluation: "Mr. Fu is a master figure in the field of Chinese history and Chinese studies in the 20th century. If you use 'best', ' The most pioneering and breakthrough writing standards, scholars of history and Chinese studies in the first half of the 20th century, who can be called masters, in my opinion are Liang Qichao, Wang Guowei, Hu Shi, Chen Yinke, Guo Moruo, Fu Sinian, Gu Jiegang, Tao Xisheng, Qian Mu and others." Zhang Guangzhi, a Chinese-American, professor at Harvard University, and a world-renowned archaeologist, still praised Fu Sinian's "Yi Xia Dong Dong Shuo" as "the best", "the most original and breakthrough" and "able to be used in Chinese academic circles in the 20th century". "Great academic chapters described by the super vocabulary of originality and breakthrough."

When Hu Shi was teaching at Peking University, he said that there are some students among the students who are more knowledgeable than the teacher, and he was talking about Fu Sinian. Hu Shi once commented on Fu Sinian's character and talent as follows. He said: "Meng Zhen (Fu Sinian's character) is the rarest genius in the world. He has the strongest memory and the strongest understanding. He can make the most detailed embroidery. He is also the most daring and bold. He is the most learned scholar, and at the same time he is the most capable and organized natural leader. His emotions are the most enthusiastic and often bring Explosive; at the same time, he is the gentlest, most rational, most organized, and amiable person. These are the rarest talents in the world to be combined in one person, and our Meng Zhen can indeed combine them all. Have these qualities and talents that are the hardest to combine."

Hu Shi praised Fu Sinian passionately: "A person like him can display his leadership skills no matter where he is." "I always feel that there are people among friends who can continue his way of learning; There are people who work in this area, and among friends; but there is no one who is everywhere a moral force like him." Luo Jialun described Fu's talent and style as "horses across the sky and shores, handsome and strange people are among the dragons".Luo Jialun said: Fu Sinian is a person full of vitality. Luo Jialun wrote in "The Energetic Fu Mengzhen": "Mengzhen's appeal and aggressive spirit are similar to those of Voltare. They are both willing to fight for freedom and enlightenment. They are powerful to destroy darkness and stubbornness. Strength, and love to fight against injustices are also similar. But Fudel is unavoidably mean, while Meng Zhen is frank and straightforward.”

Fu Sinian's student Liu Shaoming used the novel to talk about Mr. Fu: "Principal Fu, although I have obtained a Ph.D. degree in the United States on the other side of the ocean, I am most proud of the degree from Azalea City." Some scholars said: "In the history of National Taiwan University, although Mr. Meng Zhen (Fu Sinian) was not the founding president of the school, he may not be able to match the establishment of routines and systems." Scholar Professor Yuan Liangjun once wrote an article entitled "Don't be jealous of the sage Mr. Fu Sinian! " article discusses some of Mr. Fu's exaggerated things, and cites two points: "One is to advocate 'full Europeanization' and to worship Western culture too much", "The other is to negate Chinese traditional culture too much." .Several examples were cited in the article, which are indeed some radical remarks made by Mr. Fu in his youth; but Mr. Yuan did not forget the historical atmosphere in which the characters lived and made an analysis: "Mr. Fu was just a young and energetic college student at that time. , there is a relatively large extreme emotion, it is not surprising. After maturity, many views have been revised." This is a relatively fair comment on historical figures.

Jiang Tingfu once recalled that Fu Sinian's works on politics "seem to gather four thousand years of historical experience". Zhu Zongzhen commented on Fu Sinian: Looking back on the trauma of historiography in the past forty years...Compared with some ephemeral schools, Mr. Fu's down-to-earth school of historical materials has its own value. Professor Li Ji, the director of the Department of Archeology and Anthropology at National Taiwan University, who was a member of the Academia Sinica, said with his own experience: "Whether it is running a research institute or a university, Fu Sinian always manages a great building like a chief architect of design. Has a complete set of blueprints, and fully cooperates with his engineers to complete his plan step by step, step by step. There are always difficulties, and often encounter great difficulties, but he always has a way to overcome them. He is really the number one among heroes who overcome difficulties."

Zhang Shizhao once said that Fu Sinian is the person who understands Freund's theory best in China. Zhao Yuanren admired Fu Sinian very much. When Zhao Yuanren and his wife traveled to Europe, Zhao Yuanren and Fu Sinian hit it off the most.Yang Buwei said: "President Yuan Ren told me that this person not only has extensive knowledge, but also has profound talents and insights. He will be of great use in the future. It’s not as good as Ren himself. It’s a pity that the world has changed, and unfortunately he died early, and he will die today.” A few years later, Zhao Yuanren was invited by Fu Sinian to serve as the language team leader of the Institute of History and Philology, probably out of admiration for Fu Sinian.

Cheng Cangbo commented on Fu Sinian: "He likes to talk about politics, but gets bored easily. The occasional reckless blow is not interested in politics, but arouses the sense of responsibility of the scholar-officials." Jiang Menglin believed that Fu Sinian was a rare generalist and genius in the world. He said: "Mengzhen's learning is general learning, and his talents are geniuses. In ancient and modern times, it is learning. It is easy to specialize in learning, but difficult to learn in general. The so-called general learning is the generalist in ancient and modern times."

Jiang also said: "Meng Zhen discusses three things for his academic affairs. The big ones are like a river, and the small ones don't leave a single drop. He is really a genius in the world." When Fu Sinian was a sophomore at Peking University, someone commented: "Fu Mengzhen is very talented!" Lao Gan said: "In the past 20 years of historical research, several good universities and research institutions in China have made their contributions. , can indeed achieve a central position.” Some people sighed: "Fu Sinian is a model among the most learned, ambitious, bloody and cultivated great intellectuals in Chinese history. In this world where great intellectuals are almost extinct, perhaps there is no Someone will know how deeply and warmly I miss each of them." Regarding the conversation between Jiang and Fu, people commented: "This kind of dialogue between the monarch and his ministers is so heroic. Not to mention, have you ever dreamed of it?"
