Mr. Jin Yuelin, alias Longsun, was born on Qixi Festival in 1895. According to legend, Mr. Jin’s father happened to be riding home from outside that day.Only after returning home did he find out that his wife was about to give birth, so Jin's father decided: if the baby is a girl, it will be called "Qiaoqiao", and if it is a boy, it will be named "Longsun". This is the origin of Mr. Jin Yuelin's name. When Jin Yuelin was studying at Tsinghua University, the food in Tsinghua Academy was terrible.Four big bowls, all meat. One day, Hu Mei, an American from Yali Middle School in Changsha, came to visit. Hu Mei asked him how the food was, and he said, "It's not good, I can't eat it." After Hu left, Zhou Yichun, who was the supervisor at the time, severely criticized Jin Yuelin.

Zhao Yuanren and Yang Buwei were traveling in Europe and met Jin Yuelin.Jin Yuelin borrowed money from them, and Yang lent him 30 yuan. Yang Buwei thought that his life was very difficult, and was planning to lend him some more when his own money arrived. Unexpectedly, they received a letter from Jin from Italy three days later. Zhong said that he thought that thirty yuan would be enough to go to Italy, so he planned to spend a few days there. Jin Yuelin's style name is Longsun, and Ye Qisun and Chen Daisun are also known as "Three Suns of Tsinghua University".They have one thing in common - never married.

Jin Yuelin's single status has always been a hot topic.Southwest Associated University has four famous single professors: Wu Mi from the Department of Foreign Languages, Chen Daisun from the Department of Economics, Jin Yuelin from the Department of Philosophy, and Li Jitong from the Department of Biology.Although single, their anecdotes and love stories are widely circulated in the school. In order to pursue Lin Huiyin, Xu Zhimo did not hesitate to divorce his wife Zhang Youyi in Berlin. When Zhang Youyi was looking for death and reluctance to divorce, the Chinese students studying in Germany, led by the good-for-nothings, surrounded him one after another, and dragged Xu Zhimo to ask him to treat him to a Chinese restaurant in order to offer a good plan.Feeling hopeless, Xu, who was about to bang his head against the wall, believed it was true, gritted his teeth and let out blood, took out a sum of money, and invited seven or eight people to a restaurant to eat and drink. When the wine was hot, an overseas student known as "Guiguzi" finally came up with a plan. He thought that the most feasible one was to have Xu Zhimo donate Zhang's family like a sack and hand it over to the unmarried Jin Yuelin as his wife. Everyone applauded .Unexpectedly, Jin Yuelin was eating with friends in another room separated by a thin wooden board at this time. He heard a group of Chinese students yelling his name amidst the sound of wine bottles and chopsticks colliding, and hurried out to listen. After all, after finding out what happened, he suddenly rushed into the other party's room, stretched his head, and shouted slowly "Hey—" Seeing this, everyone was shocked, and Xu Zhimo's white cheeks suddenly turned half red.

Ms. Chen Gonghui, a good friend of Jin Yuelin, recalled that when he was studying in the United States, Mr. Jin once met his landlord, Mrs. Gude, on his way home. The careful landlady immediately noticed that Jin Yuelin's face looked unhappy. The landlady was very concerned about him and asked: "What's the matter with you, what's the matter?" He said a little wronged: "My girlfriend in China wrote a letter to blow up with me." Then he ran away without looking back. Going to the lake, this frightened Mrs. Gude, afraid that he would do something stupid in a moment of enthusiasm, so she hurriedly found someone to persuade him to think about it; but Jin Yuelin laughed happily at the little prank he made up.

Jin Yuelin once co-authored the Philosophical Review with Feng Youlan, He Lin, Qu Junong, Lin Zaiping, Shen Youding and others. At that time, the Nanjing Nationalist Government asked them to answer the questions. At that time they arranged Feng Youlan as the director and He Zizhao as the secretary to deal with people in Nanjing. The task Feng and He arranged for Jin Yuelin was to sit next to Shen Youding and prevent him from speaking.Although Jin Yuelin did not agree with their arrangement temporarily, he still complied. After Chen Daqi, who was the vice president of the Examination Institute at the time, spoke, Shen Youding couldn't bear it anymore. He wanted to speak two or three times, but Jin Yuelin grabbed his clothes to prevent him from speaking. In his later years, Jin Yuelin apologized to Shen Youding in his reminiscence article.

Zhang Ruoxi and Jin Yuelin are good friends, but sometimes they quarrel.Once the words were not speculative and there was an argument. Jin said that Zhang was really full of arrogance and prejudice. Zhang immediately retorted that it was you who lacked reason and emotion. (, are two famous novels by Jane Austen.) In the 1930s, Jin Yuelin and his friends got together on Saturdays, and they became "Saturday Party".During gatherings, Jin Yuelin never talked about philosophy, but mostly talked about architecture, calligraphy and painting.Jin Yuelin's talk about architecture is probably related to Lin Huiyin.

Russell didn't like the Communist Party, and he didn't like Stalin either. In 1943, Jin Yuelin met Russell in Washington.Jin Yuelin said: "Now that we are fighting, we will definitely win. Are you finally satisfied with the situation?" Russell threw his hands at Xiqiao, pointed to the east, and said, "He is there, what can we do?" Jin Yuelin said: These intellectuals have exactly the same class standpoint as Russell. After liberation, they asked Ai Siqi: "Chairman Mao arrived in Moscow, why didn't Stalin go to greet him?" Ai said he didn't know, and he could ask.In class the next day, Ai replied: "Stalin went, but he didn't pick up."

Mr. Jin Yuelin is innocent and optimistic. In 1982, the 87-year-old Jin’s health was deteriorating, but according to the memories of Jin Yuelin’s students: he still listened to news broadcasts and read newspapers at the prescribed time every day.He complained to the nanny and said: "I am not happy today. Why didn't you call me on time? I can't keep up with the time." One step. It seems that I can't die in a short time, I want to see the 'four modernizations'." Jin Yuelin once described his living room in this way: "It should be said that a bachelor is very comfortable living in those few rooms. If we are talking about the daytime, those few rooms are really comfortable. At night, especially after going to bed, the problem is different. Yes. As soon as the lights go out, it’s like ten thousand horses are galloping on the paper ceiling, and the little mice will start their sports meeting. Fortunately, I was in my prime at that time, and I fell asleep on the bed after a few minutes.”

As early as the 1930s, when the famous American sinologist Fei Zhengqing first came to China, he had a deep relationship with Liang Sicheng, Lin Huiyin and his wife, Jiang Tingfu, Jin Yuelin and others. When he came to China again in 1942, he was shocked by the difficult life faced by Chinese intellectuals during the Anti-Japanese War.He said in his memoirs: "Acquiring food and housing, as well as the minimum necessities of life, became the main problems of the faculty and staff of the United Nations University at that time. My friends, philosopher Jin Yuelin, economist Chen Daisun, and Hawaiian-Americans in the English Department Chen Futian, a professor of Chinese descent, has just moved to live on the terrace of the old theater next to the U.S. Consulate, and set up a temporary mobile home.” Then he described the scene of these mobile homes: “Big rats are running around on the paper ceiling. Go, almost fell off the top, so we talked about buying a cat, but a cat was going for 200 yuan in Silver Ocean."

When I was at the Southwest Associated University, the planes of the Japanese invaders often carried out air strikes over Yunnan. We can see from the memories of Mr. Chen Daisun: the residence was bombed several times, and moved several times: we lived in Kunming Normal University and the Agricultural School for a short time.Later, Mr. Jin Yuelin and a dozen of our colleagues rented a private house next to the green lake in the city to live in.But after living there for a short time, this small courtyard was shot and destroyed in another air raid.We cleared away the ashes, and moved together with a dozen or so other homeless colleagues to a stage in Tangjia Garden, Beimen Street, rented and unused by Tsinghua Aviation Research Institute. We shared a private room and made some repairs to use it as a bedroom. The pool seat under the stage becomes our living room and dining room.Mr. Jin, Mr. Zhu Ziqing, Mr. Li Jitong, Mr. Chen Futian and myself shared the big box on the upper floor facing the stage.Fortunately, we lived in this stage dormitory for five or six years until Japan surrendered. The end of the General Assembly, no longer suffer from bereavement.
