Republic of China style 民国文林 1156Words 2018-03-16
In the winter of 1916, Wen Yiduo fell ill and was admitted to the school hospital, when his classmate Jia Guanlin died. One night, I heard that Yiduo was in a trance, and before the king came, he was frightened and delayed, and the scene passed away. He wanted to sleep more, and his eyelids were in pain, and he looked out of sight. The stars appeared and disappeared, and the moon was in the tall trees. Calling while patrolling, looking up to the sky and weeping, hesitating and scratching his head, not knowing what to do, he wrote a poem to recruit him."This is the "Fu on Recruiting Friends of the Dead".

Wen Yiduo said that the two people who had the greatest influence on his poetic style. One is Liang Shiqiu: "I was influenced by Shiqiu in the past, and I only wanted to be beautiful." The second is Guo Moruo: "Now it is becoming more vigorous and vigorous, a bit like Moruo." He commented on his poetic style as "between these two. ". Wen Yiduo not only absorbed the strengths of the syllable style of Western poetry, but also retained the tradition of the rhythm of classical Chinese poetry. symmetry and sentence uniformity)”; poets should “dance with fetters on”.His new poems once influenced the poetic style in the 1920s.

Wen Yiduo started to build a "poetic family" from the time he got married. Even during the Anti-Japanese War, when material life was extremely difficult, the construction of a poetic family never stopped.Every night, Wen always leaned on the bed, put a pillow behind his back, and asked the children to sit around and listen to him explaining poems one by one.As he talked, he would pause and let the children talk about their ideas, and then he would explain. After the explanation, he also asked the children to recite it, and if they couldn't recite it, they would beat their legs as punishment.

Wen Yiduo believes: "It is his behavior, not his literary talent, that makes Qu Yuan the most loved and respected object by the people. If the people of Chu State who were dying of suffocation before the storm at that time, Qu Yuan's "Li Sao" Awakened their rebellious emotions, then, Qu Yuan's death raised the rebellious emotions to the brink of explosion... History has determined that the era of storms will inevitably come, and Qu Yuan has repeatedly performed the task of "giving birth" to this era ,... In essence, it is equivalent to leading a people's revolution and avenging the people. Qu Yuan is the only person in Chinese history who has sufficient conditions to be called the people's poet."

Wen Yiduo especially admired "Spring River Flower and Moonlight Night" by Zhang Ruoxu, a poet of the early Tang Dynasty. He commented on this poem as "a poem within a poem, the peak of the peak". Luojia Mountain, where Wuhan University is located, was formerly known as Luojia Mountain (also known as Luojia Mountain). In 1928, Wuhan University chose this place as the new site. Wen Yiduo suggested changing the place name to "Luojia Mountain", which was adopted by Wuhan University and is still in use today. Zang Kejia went to the English Department of Qingdao University to study. Due to poor memory, it was very difficult to learn, so he wanted to transfer to the Chinese Department. At that time, Qingdao University stipulated that students could transfer to another school or department, but they had to get the approval of the department head. Wen Yiduo, the head of the Chinese Department, had very high requirements for students, and many of them failed to transfer to the Chinese Department.Zang Ke’s family went well. After he reported his name, Wen looked up at him from the desk and said happily, “Come on.” Thus, Zang Ke’s family became a “poetry apprentice” under Wen Yiduo’s family. From then on, Zang chanted hard day and night, and whenever he had a poem he thought was worth reading, he went to ask Wen for advice.Wen always picked up the "red tin package" cigarettes, and the two talked about poetry while smoking and drinking tea, "the room is full of poetic air". In 1932, Wen Yiduo returned to teach at Tsinghua University, and wrote to Zang Kejia: "If you have a confidant, you will have no regrets. It is enough to have you alone in Qingdao."

In his youth, Wen Yiduo was not keen on politics, but he started to discuss politics in his middle age. Many friends were surprised by the great change. However, He Zhaowu believes: "Mr. Wen's ideological trend was consistent in his early and later years. He is still a poet in essence, with a special feeling for beauty, and he is full of enthusiasm from the beginning to the end. He has never changed in his life."
