Liu Bowen went to Yuandadu for a scientific examination when he was 23 years old.According to him, Yuanda is the greatest city in the world, with many shops, crowds of people, and prosperity.Of course, Liu Bowen is from the Yuan Dynasty, so he must have admiration for the capital of the Yuan Dynasty. This is just as people in the Tang Dynasty said that Chang'an was the greatest city in the world, people in the Northern Song Dynasty said that Kaifeng was the greatest city in the world, and people in the Southern Song Dynasty also wanted to say that Kaifeng was the greatest city in the world, but Kaifeng has become The enemy's city, so Lin'an is the greatest city in the world. As for which city is the greatest city in the world, everyone has a different answer.

Liu Bowen later said that although there were poor people in Dadu, they could all find temporary jobs, so they could all eat and drink enough. It was by no means like what later historians said casually, even Dadu in the Yuan Dynasty starved to death everywhere. Liu Bowen also said that the only bad thing about Dadu is the climate. The weather in April is still irresistibly cold.So when he was awarded a Jinshi and was waiting for the appointment of the Ministry of Officials, Liu Bowen hid in the post house every day, reading with his hands. During that time, Jie Msi often came to see Liu Bowen with a group of half-hearted literati from the metropolis, and they talked about poetry, poetry, and politics, and they had a great time. One day, Jiexisi came to Liu Bowen excitedly with a letter of appointment from the Ministry of Officials, and said, "You have been appointed as the assistant to the county magistrate (county magistrate) in Gao'an, Jiangxi!"

Liu Bowen was overjoyed, although his heart was surging, but his expression was calm, and he just kept thanking Jie Xisi.Jiexisi said: "I have never seen such concentration like you, or that sentence, your future is limitless." Liu Bowen's hand trembled violently because of excitement, he hurried to hold Jiexi's hand, and asked in a trembling voice, "When can I take office?" Jie Musi said: "Oh, I don't know about this. According to the procedure, you can only go if the seat of Gao'an county magistrate is vacant. If it is not vacant, you have to wait."

Liu Bowen almost cried out. It's like being in a hurry. When you run to the toilet, someone gives you a piece of paper, but you can't go in right away.Because there are still people in the toilet, it will be your turn only when they are finished. Seeing that Liu Bowen was lost, Jie Xisi hurriedly comforted him: "Things are not as bad as you think, and that position will always be vacant. You might as well take advantage of this free time to accumulate contacts in Dadu. When you come to the officialdom in the future, you will be in the office." The central government doesn’t have any contacts, how can it be possible.”

Liu Bowen said: "I have self-knowledge. In terms of interpersonal relationships, I am weak. I am not good at interacting with people, especially with people I don't like. Moreover, I have something to do when I go back to my hometown." Jiexi asked, "What's the matter?" Liu Bowen replied: "I'm getting married." Liu Bowen had three wives in his life, the first being his cousin, Ms. Fu.Of course, this was the order of his parents, and his mother thought that the children of the Liu family should marry the children of their rich family. And his father also believed that men from the Liu family should marry women from rich families. The marriage between the Liu family and the rich family has lasted for nine generations, and Liu Bowen has no reason to refuse. According to the agreement before coming to Dadu, he must go back to his hometown to marry his cousin, Miss Fu, after being a Jinshi.

On the second day of the wedding, it began to drizzle throughout Chuzhou, and once it rains, it lasts for a year.Liu Bowen often stood in front of the window, looking at the dark sky in a daze.According to an insider, Liu Bowen loves his wife very much, and his wife loves him very much. Whenever Liu Bowen stands in front of the window, his wife will stick to him, and the two of them will look at the dark sky together.Liu Bowen's desire to go to work became stronger and stronger. In the winter of 1333, Liu Bowen got news from his friends in the capital that there was still no vacancy in Gao'an County. In other words, he had to wait.

Waiting is a torment, especially when waiting for something you desire, it is an unbearable torment. While waiting, it feels like there is no time in the world because everything freezes. But time slips away quietly when you are not paying attention. Liu Bowen, who is extremely well-trained, can't bear this kind of waiting. When he opens his eyes every morning, what comes into his mind is the official position of Gao'an County Prime Minister. When he was bored, his wife advised him: "We still have serious things to do." Liu Bowen asked what was the matter, and Ms. Fu smiled shyly and said, "There are three ways to be unfilial, the greatest thing is to have no descendants."

Liu Bowen let out an "oh".After two years of marriage, Ms. Fu's stomach has not moved.Liu Bowen suddenly found himself in an emotional muddy pond, and if he didn't get out, he might die in it. He took a stick and walked out into the yard.A heavy rain was coming soon, but he didn't notice, but concentrated on drawing the gossip on the ground. He first drew a small gossip, and then drew a big gossip around the small gossip, just like a stone stirring up a thousand waves. Soon, the yard was full of gossip pictures, like a spider web. Liu Bowen is now standing in the center of the net, With a stick in his hand, he looked a bit out of his wits.

But Liu Bowen's mind in drawing gossip is completely different from that of the bookstore owner next to the brothel in Dadu. The boss draws gossip to solve problems, just like our science students solve equations today. And Liu Bowen's gossip is a calculation. He wants to calculate why he doesn't have a child and when he will have a child. When he was standing in the yard in a daze, the heavy rain had come, and the raindrops hit the banana leaf with a "pop", and the banana leaf immediately bent down, the raindrops slid off the banana leaf, and the banana leaf bounced up again.A few more heavy raindrops hit Liu Bowen's head, and then a group of raindrops "crackling" made him frown.Only then did he wake up from the gossip formation, and hurried into the room.Sitting on the chair and pondering for a long time, he found that he and Ms. Fu had no children in this life.

However, he did not tell his wife and mother the result, because the wife hoped to have a child very much, and the old mother hoped to have a grandson as soon as possible.Liu Bowen loves his wife very much. If you love someone, you can't make her sad. To your lover, you have to report the good news and not the bad news. Therefore, he said to his wife and mother: "According to the hexagrams, we will have a child soon." It was June of 1335 when he said this.He was looking forward, looking forward, winter came again, but Ms. Fu's stomach still didn't move. However, there was movement in the Yuan Dadu court, and it was a big movement.

Tuohuan Tiemuer's lifelong favorite power minister, Boyan, did not go well when he took part in politics in the early days.Because there is also Tengjisi, the prime minister of the left, and Tengjisi has a younger brother Tarahai, and the two have a younger sister, who is the queen of Tuohuan Tiemuer, Dana Shili. The three brothers could not get used to Boyan Xuntian's power for a long time, so Tarahai discussed with Tengjisi and said: "Get rid of Boyan, and our brothers will be Boyan." After the two brothers planned, they covered their ears and ran away.Tarahai said: "Women and Taoists can only share wealth and wealth with them, but not share adversity with them. Let's do it." Tengjisi replied: "Just do what you say." So, the two were ready to rebel, but the plan was leaked. Boyan suppressed and killed Tengjisi first. Tarahai ran to the queen's palace and hid under the queen's seat. Boyan searched it out, in front of the queen. , cut off Tarahai's head, and his brother's blood splashed all over the queen. The queen's expression turned pale, and she pleaded with her man in a trembling voice. Tuohuan Tiemu'er had long wanted to change to a queen, and scolded her: "Your brother conspired against you, and you are not a good thing. I won't kill you, but I will definitely abolish you. " Although the impact of this incident was limited to court struggles, when it reached Liu Bowen's ears, he was still very distressed.Fortunately, shortly after the Spring Festival, Dadu came with a notice: the latrine of Gao'an County Prime Minister has been vacated, and Liu Bowen hastened to take office. Liu Bowen burst into tears, unable to control himself. At that moment, he forgot the haze of the queen's murder, the unhappiness that he had not been rewarded for his hard work on his wife for more than two years, and the dying Yuan Dynasty. He put his hand on the notice, just like a devout Christian put his hand on the Bible to testify, saying: "This is the best gift my great motherland has given me!" Gao'an County, Ruizhou Road, Jiangxi Province (now Gao'an, Jiangxi Province) is located in the north-central part of Jiangxi Province. It was an inconspicuous place in the Yuan Dynasty. In fact, during the end of the Yuan Dynasty, the Mongols never became interested in the politics of Jiangnan. Before Kublai Khan launched a general attack on the Southern Song Dynasty, he planned to kill all the people in Jiangnan after the Southern Song Dynasty was wiped out, and then transplanted grass seeds from the Hulunbuir prairie to turn Jiangnan into a Mongolian horse farm.It was only because of the fierce resistance in the Jiangnan area after the fall of the Southern Song Dynasty, and because of the wealth in the Jiangnan area, that Kublai Khan dispelled this idea.Even so, the Jiangnan area is still only a supply point for the Mongols, and its political status cannot be put on the table. This may also be the reason why the large-scale peasant rebellion in the south of the Yangtze River was out of control. Some people may say that the Mongols are so imaginative that they actually wanted to turn Jiangnan into a horse farm.Regarding whimsical ideas, there was an even more miraculous one in the Northern Song Dynasty. When Wang Anshi reformed, he did everything possible to increase fiscal revenue.Someone suggested to Wang Anshi that the water in Liangshanbo, Shandong should be pumped out, and the fertile land of 800 miles should be planted with crops, and the yield per mu could reach 100,000 catties.Wang Anshi was so excited that he specially sent someone to Liangshanbo to investigate, and found that it was so.But he has a question, where to put the water in Liangshanbo after it is drained.A very humorous person said, it's simple, just dig a lake the same size as Liangshan Lake and put the water there. Undoubtedly, this is a sap for the kind of whimsical people.Although Liu Bowen is full of gossip and image skills, he doesn't have this kind of wild imagination. He set off from Qingtian County, passed through Kuocheng, and headed northwest. When he entered Gao'an, there was a strong sense of autumn.Along the way, Liu Bowen was in a very comfortable mood. In "Fang Ge Xing", he compared himself to a big bird flying with wings, and compared himself to Zhang Liang in the Western Han Dynasty and Zhuge Liang in the Three Kingdoms period. He said that this was his first job, and it was an administrative establishment. He vowed in his heart to do a good job in this job even if he put his heart out. Then "crush the rivers and rivers" and let "Xuan Yin turn into day". During the day, he looked up at the sky, "autumn clouds are boundless"; at night, he looked up at the sky again, "the horse's head hung high on the moon".In the evening, his neck couldn't take it anymore, so he looked up, "The red leaves are bright in Manchuria at sunset".Thinking of the scene of coming out of my hometown, I was even more happy, and said: "Wow, 'West Wind blows the guest on the horse'." However, he immediately realized that this relaxed state of mind was not good.He is going to be an official, and to be an official is to enforce the law impartially and make decisions for the people, so he must adhere to principles. And where do the principles come from? Some people say that it comes from the prevailing rules that everyone obeys; others say that it comes from the teachings of saints.Liu Bowen said that principles actually come from my heart. If a person acts according to his conscience, he is abiding by the principle of being a human being. In other words, my conscience is the principle. If a person has a conscience in the officialdom, he may not be able to survive, but he will not be worried.Looking up at the sky and looking down at the ground, you will proudly say, I am not sorry to you! Liu Bowen has exactly such thoughts, so in his "Official Admonitions", he firmly said: "The weak cannot be bullied, the stupid cannot be bullied. The strong cannot be feared, and the charming cannot be followed." I will just be my conscientious self, fear no one, bully no one, please no one.Do everything well with your heart, so that everything that goes out of my hands has its own reason. Riding on the horse, Liu Bowen watched the autumn wind blowing and heard the clouds fluttering. He raised his head and said: This is me, the confession of a scholar. When he swaggered into the Gao'an county government office, someone tore up his confession. We have talked about a regrettable reality earlier. The administrative structure of the Yuan Dynasty was that even if the Han people were resurrected by Yao and Shun, if they still insisted that they were Han people, they could only be second in command. The problem is not the position. Of course, Liu Bowen knows that his assistant to the county magistrate has a non-Han county magistrate on his head. But he didn't know that there was Dalu Huachi (the highest local governor) above the county magistrate. This official position is held by Mongols and noble Semu people, and they hold great power. But he is illusory, and he is not usually seen, but whenever the county magistrate or the county magistrate's assistant wants to make a decision, he will appear.Daluhuachi, the Mongolian pronunciation is "purse pressing mouth", which is how "purse" comes from. In the impression of people in the officialdom, the "purse" that jumps out is indeed very similar to the "purse". Most of the time, it is a fat man with a fleshy face. You can't see his IQ with the naked eye.But a few words can test that he is very close to an idiot. However, what he said was the imperial decree, and no one should violate it.If you have any doubts, he will use force against you. Some fat people are too slow to use force, so they point at your nose and warn you not to misjudge the situation. The implication is that he is the boss here. In the early years of the Northern Song Dynasty, the founding emperor Zhao Kuangyin worried that the magistrate had too much power, so he would always send a general judge (the chief executive's deputy) to supervise the chief executive. This general judge is the second in command in name, but in fact he is the first in command, and his job is to compete with the first in command. Therefore, when the officials of the Northern Song Dynasty went to the localities to become chiefs, they burned incense and worshiped Buddha, wishing that the general judges they met could be reasonable, and some bold people would bless them: there was no general judge in the place where they took office. Now, in the Yuan Dynasty, there is also a Dalu Huachi who is like a general judge. The same as the general judge in the Northern Song Dynasty, he always makes trouble for the leader.Unlike the general judge in the Northern Song Dynasty, his administrative level is as high as that of the top leader. That is to say, when he thinks that making trouble is not enough to make the top leader die, he will use the administrative level to make the top leader have to die. Liu Bowen had only been in the Gao'an County Yamen for a month before he realized clearly that the system was too fucked up.What should be done can never be done, and what can be done is what Daru Huachi wants to do.From this we can know that Liu Bowen was troubled by dialectics.Dialectics holds that the more you are based on why, the less you are what. The more you try to get things done, the more you can't get them done. The reason why dialectics is so effective is because there is an idiot Daru Huachi. Many years later, Liu Bowen used a fable to mock this employment rule of the Yuan Dynasty. One day, the protagonist gets a horse.Bole's descendants told him that this is a thousand-mile horse, so send it to the government immediately, and the government will definitely benefit you.The protagonist led the horse to the government in a desperate manner. A fat man came out, observed for several hours, and finally said: "It looks like a thousand-mile horse, isn't it?" The protagonist is just waiting for a reward. A house of a few square meters. But the fat man of the government said: "However, this horse's household registration is not in Jidi (the north, which means the place where the Mongols are located), so it cannot enter the palace stables." The horse pen pulls the dung buckets in the city every day. Looking back on the past, Liu Bowen thinks that during the time in Gao'an, he was a real horse pulling dung buckets. But he didn't realize this at the time. In front of the county magistrate, he lamented how difficult the world is and how hard it is to find a talented person. The county magistrate also complained in front of him, saying that he was actually underappreciated.Liu Bowen felt overwhelmed when he saw that the county magistrate dared to lament that his talents were underappreciated. The county magistrate said to him: "Fuck it, you can't make things difficult for yourself in life. If you mess around, time is passing by, but if you figure it out, you will have no troubles. If you don't want to mess around, time is still like an arrow, but there are too many things. Afflictions. If people have too many afflictions, they will get sick.” Liu Bowen thought of his own "Guan Zhen", since he wrote it out, it would be too unfair to "Guan Zhen" if he didn't put it into practice. He decided to do a few things to prove it to himself. As for showing others, this is not his style, and he also understands that others have no leisure and elegance to watch him do things. Although others are not interested in watching him do things, they are in the mood to make him unable to do things.Liu Bowen acted in accordance with the law every time, so the local collaborators of officials and thieves warned him: "The water is too clear, the fish will not come, and the people are too harsh, so there will be no good friends. Do you want to be lonely to death? Do things to leave people behind." Lu, you don’t need the government to pay your salary, we can also give it to you.” Liu Bowen sneered, because he was a person who was never afraid of threats. The more people warned him, the more he took other people's words as fart.Soon, news spread that there was a stern and selfless Liu Bowen in the Gao'an yamen. In fact, when Liu Bowen first entered the officialdom, he only did things with enthusiasm, and was disliked by others everywhere. At this time, his mind was not fully mature, and the pain in his heart can be imagined. A few years later, when recalling the years in Gao'an, he said sadly: "How is the world? There are many dangers. I laughed and talked in front of the lamp last night. How could I turn into a tiger today?" When he first arrived in Gao'an, although his official position was humble, he was still a petty official. As an official, naturally someone would flatter him, and naturally someone would flatter him.Usually, when everyone sits together, Brother Zhang San, Brother Li Fourth, and Brother Wang Ermazi compliment each other.Liu Bowen also thought that these people were good, but when he proposed to do a few things appreciated by the common people or improve work efficiency, Liu Bowen found himself caught in a mess of excuses, excuses and obstacles. In the end, all his plans It has all become a purely innocent fantasy. Liu Bowen can still bear others' passive resistance. After all, it is a kind of resistance, not an attack on him.But sometimes, Liu Bowen found that his colleagues in the officialdom had a dog face, and turned them over as soon as they said it.Over time, Liu Bowen found out that these people turned their faces when he wanted to act according to his conscience. Liu Bowen commented on this paradoxical interpersonal relationship in his "Difficult Journey": Friendship in the political and official circles is absolutely unreliable.Because it is difficult to paint the skin of a tiger, and it is difficult to know the heart when it is known. Therefore, it is difficult to know the mind, not only because the mind is in the body, so that people cannot see it, but also because it changes at any time. It's not that you can't see a person's heart, but you can't see the changes in the heart. Dou Ying and Tian Fu in the era of Emperor Wu of the Western Han Dynasty both admired Confucianism and were reprimanded by the Empress Dowager Dou. Rubbing and drinking, wishing to take out his heart to repay Dou Ying for taking care of him.But later he came to power, the political situation changed, and he actually killed Dou Ying alive. But it is true that Liu Bowen has emotions at this time, but he is still like a newborn calf, not afraid of anyone in reality. He has always been an aloof person to the bone, and he does things only by his own conscience and beliefs guided by his conscience. If you don't have friends, you don't have friends. He doesn't lack friends. If you don't understand, you don't understand. I just understand me in my heart.Didn't the sage say that everything in the world and my heart are one?Since my heart can understand me, everything in the world can understand me, and the universe can understand me, so what does it matter if a few small people like dust understand me? This kind of sticking to conscience earned Liu Bowen a reputation for integrity, but what also made him wonder was that the chubby Dalu Huachi never troubled him. This allowed Liu Bowen to see the sunshine from the dark clouds. He wishfully believed that there is righteousness in the world, and if he acts for the people with conscience, he will win their hearts, and if he wins their hearts, he will win his share of the world. In fact, he has not been deeply involved in the world, and he doesn't know that those who win the hearts of the people cannot win the world.Because in the era of autocracy, those who have the "upper" heart get a high position.Because officials in an autocratic country are not elected by the people, but appointed by those in power. If you want to keep your official position, you don't need to get close to the common people, as long as you serve the chief like a concubine, you will be able to secure your position. Zhang Changzong, the favorite minister and "little wife" of Empress Wu Zetian in the Tang Dynasty, had a famous saying: "A man should be like this: When I am high above, thousands of people want to push me down, but I will not fall; when I lose power, tens of thousands of people want to lift me up." Me, I just can’t get up.” The essence of this sentence is: When the leader favors me, even if the people all over the world scold me, and the honest ministers risk their lives to report me, it’s useless, I just won’t fall; When the leader hates me, even if the people all over the world praise me and the honest ministers risk their lives to recommend me, it will be of no use, I still cannot be a high-ranking official. Liu Bowen's direct leader, the magistrate of Gao'an County, looked at the aloof Liu Bowen and said, "You are the same as when I was young. But look at me now, I am not just waiting to die. Confucianism always teaches us to practice in the officialdom, The more smoky and smoky the officialdom is, the more it is considered the best place to practice. It’s like washing your feet in a mud pond or washing your vegetables in a saucepan, isn’t it getting worse the more you wash it?” Liu Bowen said: "Zhou Dunyi, the spiritual leader of Neo-Confucianism, said that when you come out of the mud, you will not be stained, and if you are clean, you will not be evil. As long as you are righteous, you will still be a gentleman even if you enter the devil's den." The county magistrate said: "Oh, how can people compare with lotus flowers? People are people. In society, you have to interact with others. Now you have offended everyone!" Liu Bowen said: "No, I am also a person with friends!" The county magistrate snorted coldly and said, "Those friends of yours won't help your future at all." The magistrate of Gao'an County seems to be right. The few friends Liu Bowen made when he was in Gao'an were all upright literati. One of them, Li Xuan, was a painter, but his paintings seemed to be a stream of consciousness, and no one could understand them.As for the two brothers Huang Boxan, they wrote beautiful poems and composed music very well, but they always regarded Liu Bowen as "contemptuous" when he was in the officialdom. When several people are together, the only thing they can talk about is the study of rhetoric.Liu Bowen once drank some wine and exclaimed: "'It's full of thorns and no one sweeps'!" Painter Li rolled his eyes at Liu Bowen and said: "Common things, these are all common things, come and drink!" In fact, what Liu Bowen is facing is unparalleled corruption in the officialdom. A man with a real sense of responsibility should move forward bravely instead of being a coward. It doesn't matter to be a shrinking turtle, but you can't be complacent about the shrinking strategy. There are two kinds of people in the world. One is Confucius, who, under the guidance of his conscience, knows what to do but does what he knows. The other is a person like Zhuangzi, I escape, I desperately escape, and then I beautify escape as a high-level human sentiment. Of course, Liu Bowen belongs to the kind of people like Confucius, but the old master Confucius is very miserable, and sometimes he can't even solve the basic food and clothing. At that time, some so-called hermits like Li Zhen laughed at Confucius as a lost dog.But there is one difference between Liu Bowen and Confucius. Liu Bowen does not rely on lobbying, but only on doing practical things.Confucius played with his mouth, while Liu Bowen played with his actions. His actions have indeed achieved good results. For example, in the third year of being an assistant to the county magistrate in Gaoan, a murder case occurred in the neighboring Xinchangzhou. The murderer was a Mongolian. After the incident, the murderer bribed the trial judge with a large amount of money. The trial judge, in line with the ancient Chinese principle of "using other people's money to eliminate disasters for others", ruled it as manslaughter, and the case was closed hastily. ——We can see from this case that the ethnic discrimination policy of the Yuan Dynasty did not stick to the end.At least by the time Liu Bowen was an official in Gao'an, he might have collapsed.Otherwise, the trial judge would not have judged the Mongol as manslaughter. He can definitely judge it as intentional homicide, but pay the other party a donkey. The plaintiff was not a vegetarian either, he was originally from a wealthy local family. So various resources were integrated, and finally appealed to the higher-level government on Ruizhou Road. The magistrate is an official fritter. Seeing that the plaintiff and the defendant are people who cannot be offended, he wanted to pick out a young man to serve as a death squad. Someone immediately thought of Liu Bowen from Gao'an with malicious intentions. Liu Bowen was very excited when he heard that the heaven had given him a great responsibility. In his opinion, this seemed to be a symbol of being valued. So, the people rushed to Ruizhou Road, acted vigorously, and within a few days, the truth of the case was clarified, and the murderer must pay for his life according to the law.The trial judge had no choice but to take the bribe money back to his hometown for retirement. When the trial judge left, he summoned the defendant’s family members and many Mongolian friends, attacked Liu Bowen to pieces, and reminded these people that Liu Bowen is a plague god. If you stay in this place for a day, you will not be free, so you can do it yourself. As soon as the Mongolian heard this, he would draw the Mongolian sword from his waist. The Mongolian knife in the Yuan Dynasty is quite different from the current Mongolian knife. The thing is crescent-shaped, one foot long, inserted into the person's stomach, lifted up, and then pulled out, the large intestine hung on it while steaming. The intestines are still kept warm outside the belly, but people don't die. They just watch the heat in their large intestine dissipate before they die.The reason why the Mongol cavalry are invincible is that their scimitars played a big role. When they charged each other with the enemy, their scimitars only need to sink three points, and the tip of the knife can touch the opponent's horse's belly, and then one Pick, the horse's stomach will be opened, and all the internal organs of the horse will fall into the dust. Naturally, the opponent can only fall off the horse. Regarding the fact that the Mongols were going to disembowel Liu Bowen, Liu Bowen's immediate boss was the first to get the news.He is not a righteous person, but his conscience is still not lost, so he gave Liu Bowen a letter of recommendation, asking him to go to Nanchang County, Longxing Road (now Nanchang, Jiangxi Province), the seat of Jiangxi Province.Because there is a friend of his there who has heard about Liu Bowen for a long time. Liu Bowen asked without changing his face: "What if you don't leave?" The county magistrate cross-cut the stomach with his palm and said, "It's the work of caesarean section." Liu Bowen said, "I don't believe it." The county magistrate said: "I don't care whether you believe it or not, in short, I act according to my conscience. Moreover, this is an order, get out of Gao'an!" Liu Bowen sighed: "Gao An, it's hard to be Gao An!" After sighing this sentence, the arrogance in his bones suddenly gushed out, and he sighed angrily, "The wise man has nowhere to go!" Regarding this exclamation, Liu Bowen was just acting out of emotion at the time, and there was no example to prove it.Many years later, he filled in the blank of this exclamation in his book "Yu Ion", telling such a story: There are three merchants selling medicinal herbs in the market.Businessman A monopolizes high-quality medicines, and sets prices according to the purchase price. He does not sell them cheaply, but he does not ask for excessive prices; Businessman B accepts both high-quality medicines and low-quality medicines. When waiting for the medicine, he will give the inferior medicine; businessman C never accepts the superior medicine, but only accepts more of the inferior medicine, and the price is cheap, and he will add some if the customer asks for it, and he never cares, so his business is very booming. In just over a year, he became a millionaire.Businessman B also gets rich in the second year.Only that businessman A's business was surprisingly poor, the sky was bright and bright, the entrance of his pharmacy was as quiet as a tomb, and he went bankrupt soon. Liu Bowen sighed at the end of this story: "This is the case with officials now. During the Spring and Autumn Period, there were three county officials on the border of Chu State. One of them was very clean, but he could not win the favor of his superiors. When he left office, he was very poor. He can't even afford to hire a donkey; the other one always sees the opportunity and catches some when he can. Instead of criticizing him, people praise him for his ability; He cares for his subordinates like his own son, and treats the rich and big family with enthusiasm like a guest. In less than three years, he was promoted to a high-ranking official. The people still think he is very good, this is really the strangest thing under the sun!" In fact, what Liu Bowen sighed was nothing more than a sage, that is, he himself has no ambitions, and the wicked take the lead. This kind of emotion, in fact, also has elements of deliberate moaning.Looking at history, many heroes have felt this way when they were not soaring to the top and deep in the bottom.Note that the ancient Chinese liked to write poems, and they especially liked to use exaggerated rhetoric, so we can always see a group of wives-like people standing on a high hill, looking at the endless green hills and the nine bends of the river. , bemoaning his failure. It is reasonable for Liu Bowen to lament like this when he was in his twenties. But his lament did not end in Gao'an, there was also Gao'an's continuation——Nanchang. According to his idea of "high security and difficult security", then Nanchang is difficult (south) to "prosperity" for him. After he came to the Nanchang government, his position was 掾史 (secretary to the governor), and his administrative level was improved, but his power was not as good as that of Gao'an county magistrate. The county magistrate can still handle the case independently, but the governor can only write reports. The governor of Jiangxi Province has a good impression of Liu Bowen, but unfortunately, due to institutional reasons, he cannot entrust Liu Bowen with important tasks. This system is the Mongolian discrimination against the Han people. In the officialdom, the Han people will always be the second child, and will always be the object of suspicion and exclusion. The governor of Jiangxi Province said to Liu Bowen: "You are lucky enough not to be disemboweled by our Mongolians. You should be grateful and work hard here." Liu Bowen frowned, but still nodded.Seeing that he was not very happy nodding, the officer encouraged him and said: "Do it well, you are a Jinshi, and it is unreasonable for you not to rise to the top." As soon as Liu Bowen heard this, he immediately became excited. But his chief suddenly asked again: "Do you think Jinshi is useful? Our Great Yuan has been abolished for so long, and the sky has not collapsed!" Liu Bowen was quite surprised by the ignorance of this provincial official. He wanted to use the history of the imperial examination to prove the ignorance of the chief, but then he thought, the chief was right. The Yuan Dynasty did not have an imperial examination, and it did survive for many years. The world is a bit chaotic now, not because there are no imperial examinations, but because some self-righteous people are disturbing themselves. If Liu Bowen stood at the end of China's autocratic dynasty, he would find that the Yuan Dynasty did not pay much attention to intellectuals, and there was an obvious benefit: the Yuan Dynasty had no literary prisons throughout its life, and without literary prisons, it was a paradise for intellectuals. But at that time, Liu Bowen couldn't see it.He will not bathe in incense and play spiritual chess because of this matter that has nothing to do with him.Because he didn't have the ability to separate himself, soon after entering Jiangxi, Liu Bowen officially put into heavy work. His job is not only copywriting, but also dealing with official circles. The circle is like oxygen to people in the officialdom, it seems that there is no such thing, but once you leave it, you must die.Although Liu Bowen understands Qimen Dunjia and the Five Elements and Eight Diagrams, these magical technologies cannot produce oxygen by themselves. Therefore, he had to deal with the officialdom circle. However, he is a piece of shit at this.In the rotten political environment, the officialdom is even more smoky. Here, high-level sentiments are taboo, so integrity, morality, and reputation are all discarded.Liu Bowen happened to have these things on him, and these things often warned him not to turn a blind eye to them. This made Liu Bowen very painful. In the Ming Dynasty, a hermit named Hong Yingming said: "Those who mark righteousness will be slandered for their righteousness; scholars who promote Taoism are often recruited because of Taoism. Therefore, a gentleman does not get close to evil things, nor does he establish a good name, he only needs to be kind." Naturally, it is the treasure of the body.” Hong Hermit also said: "You don't have to be the same as the common people, and you don't have to be different from the common people; you don't have to be happy or disgusting." We said that there are too many so-called life mentors like Hong Yingming who stand up and talk without back pain in Chinese history.Hong Yingming was an official in his early days. Because he couldn't stand the official culture at that time, he resigned and stayed at home to concentrate on writing books, so he got this book. The book is full of philosophies of life and conduct, but one thing to note is that these philosophies of conduct and conduct were summed up by Hong Yingming from his previous failures in official career, and after they were summed up, they were never practiced in the officialdom. At first glance, it seems to be clever and eye-catching everywhere, but has anyone actually practiced it in officialdom or in Vanity Fair, and how well has it been practiced? Life experience is the most unreliable thing. The ancients said that nothing is difficult unless it has happened. There is no such person in the world who can get things done just by seeing one or two sentences of philosophy. Of course, it's not that Hong Yingming is not good, it's just that when he talks about those philosophies, he stays out of it.Stay out of the matter, of course you can say whatever you want. Those people with a strong Taoist temperament in Chinese history said some detached words, but refused to put these words into practice, and the result could only be talk on paper. Let’s look at the content of this kind of Chinese-style life, which is full of tortuous laws and regulations. It makes people stop complaining about the society when they encounter problems, and have to reflect on themselves. The important person repays the evil with virtue, and the preservation of the physical body is the first priority. This kind of "concession" thought of Chinese Taoism is the hotbed of the dictatorship of the monarchy for two thousand years, because "concession" means not to fight, and to live in peace. What a dictator likes most is that the people do not fight. Lao Tzu has a very hateful saying called "repaying grievances with virtue". Even Confucius couldn't stand it anymore and said: "If you repay a grievance with virtue, how can you repay your virtue?" In this way, it is actually to be seen by others, and the reputation of a saint will be lost. Once the reputation is successful, the benefits will come. We have said so much, but we just want to say that Liu Bowen is in the officialdom. If he cannot integrate into that circle, he can only withdraw, and there is no other way to go.According to Hong Yingming, don't flaunt righteousness and morality. A gentleman doesn't do evil things that are hated by others, and don't make a good name. The treasure of living is to pretend to be a layman in the crowd, but keep a pure heart temperament.
