I had to go to the general branch secretary almost once a month.The secretary of the general branch always said: Your problem has been going on for a long time, the problem is complicated, and it is difficult to solve.I wrote three appeal letters to the Party Committee of Renmin University of China, requesting investigation and research to restore my organizational relationship.He also sent the North China Bureau's letter to the Party Committee of Renmin University of China, which believed that I had joined the party and had done underground work.I don't know whether the party committee has investigated and studied my request, but I have never received a definite answer to the relevant question.

In the spring of 1957, after the rectification within the Party began, the Party Committee of Renmin University of China notified me in writing three times in a row, asking me to participate in the "symposium for non-Party people" to help the Party rectify.I think I am a Communist Party member who took risks and worked underground for the party for more than ten years. Because the underground organization was destroyed, the single-line leader was arrested and the organizational relationship was severed.The party committee did not give any reply to my appeal letter requesting to restore the organizational relationship. Why did they list me as a "person outside the party"?I can't figure it out.So when I received the first two notices, I did not attend the symposium.After the third notice was sent, a comrade from the general branch came to mobilize me. He said: The party committee invited you to attend the symposium for non-Party people in writing three times, but you didn’t go, which is not appropriate.I reluctantly went to the symposium.

Arriving at the venue, after the secretary of the party committee announced the opening of the meeting, he went on to say: "The party's policy is to say everything you know, and say everything; whoever speaks is innocent, and whoever hears it is a warning; if there is something, it will be governed, and if there is nothing, it will be encouraged."He also said, this is what Chairman Mao said, please dispel your worries and speak up.After some speakers, I stand up to speak.Based on my desire to help the party rectify the work, I gave some advice to the party committee on the aspects of laymen who can't run universities well, don't separate themselves from the masses, don't look down on intellectuals, party members and cadres don't live in a special way, and overcome subjectivism, sectarianism, and bureaucracy. .This is what I said on May 24, 1957, at the "Non-Party Symposium" convened by the Party Committee of Renmin University of China, in accordance with the policy of "telling everything you know." On May 27, my "speech" (the falsified speech) was published in Renmin University's internal publication "Renmin University Weekly".It said, "Don't distrust us intellectuals. If you do it well, you can do it; if you don't do it well, the masses can overthrow you and kill the Communists; to overthrow you, this cannot be said to be unpatriotic, because the Communists do not serve the people."I did not say this passage, and distorted the original meaning of my statement.In the afternoon, I went to the Party Committee of Renmin University of China to request a correction.Comrade Nie Zhen, deputy secretary of the party committee and vice president, met me.At that time, I was a little impatient, so I pointed to the paragraph in the "National People's Congress Weekly" and said: Isn't this an intention to frame me?Vice President Nie said: Comrade Ge Peiqi, don't worry, the Communist Party is seeking truth from facts, if it is wrong, it can be corrected.

On June 8, "People's Daily" reported Ge Peiqi's "anti-communist speech" as the headline, saying: "The masses will always overthrow the Communist Party and kill the Communists; if you don't change it, don't fight for your reputation, and continue to corrupt, you will definitely follow this path. There will always be such a day, and this is also in line with the law of socialist development; it is useless to just shout long live."I never said this passage. The full text of my speech published in the "National People's Congress Weekly" also does not include this passage.This report is pure fabrication.After I saw it, I immediately wrote a correction letter to the People's Daily, and on the morning of June 9, I personally sent it to the People's Daily. (This correction letter has now been found out, but it took a lot of effort).

"People's Daily" did not publish a word of my correction letter.But they published numerous articles criticizing me.For example, on June 8, "People's Daily" published not only the above-mentioned false report, but also three articles criticizing me, including "I must draw a clear line of thinking with Ge Peiqi". On June 14, "People's Daily" published three reports criticizing me in Nanjing, Baoding, and Shenyang at the same time; on the same day, it also published an article "Ge Peiqi's students denounced Ge Peiqi". On June 15th, "I Express Some Opinions on Ge Peiqi's Statements" written by a famous person.... "People's Daily" is the organ newspaper of the Party Central Committee, so it spared no space to publish articles criticizing me, which played a mobilizing role in the society.Therefore, large and small newspapers and magazines across the country published articles criticizing me one after another, forming a climax of criticizing Ge Peiqi.I, an unknown commoner, became a news figure for a while, and I really couldn't bear it.

I, Ge Peiqi, have nothing to do with "killing the Communists", not only in fact, but also from the grammatical analysis of the above-mentioned slander, it is not that I, Ge Peiqi, want to "kill the Communists".Some people took advantage of the past and forcibly combined the words "Ge Peiqi" and "kill the Communists" to form a new sentence "Ge Peiqi wants to kill the Communists".This false accusation became the main basis for labeling me an "extreme rightist", and it was also one of the main "crimes" for my life imprisonment.This is really "If you want to commit a crime, there is no reason to worry about it."
