I stayed in Shenyang under the cover of "Director of the Northeast Communications Department of the Central Propaganda Department of the Kuomintang Central Committee". Although I couldn't do intelligence work, I also carried out other work that was beneficial to the revolution. In February 1948, the Northeast authorities of the Kuomintang gathered students from various universities in Shenyang to Chung Cheng University and forced them to conduct "winter training".The authorities of the winter training class fabricated rumors that "communist elements were mixed in" and arrested students wantonly.Several progressive students at Northeastern University were arrested. In the name of "Director of the Northeast Communications Department of the Central Propaganda Department of the Kuomintang", I bailed them out.

In the spring of 1948, our army narrowed the encirclement of Shenyang. Some poor Shandong fellows in Shenyang city had a difficult life because they couldn't find a job.In my capacity as a director of the Shandong Association, I proposed to donate money to the big households in my hometown in the name of the Shandong Association to help the unemployed fellow villagers.I also secretly mobilized unemployed fellow villagers to participate in the mass production movement in the liberated areas. In the name of "Director of the Northeast Communications Department of the Central Propaganda Department of the Kuomintang", I called progressive editors and reporters from various newspapers in Shenyang many times to hold symposiums to discuss the situation in the Northeast. And asked them to expose the social darkness in the Kuomintang ruled areas and the tyranny of arresting strong men, pulling peasants, and robbing farmers of food.

In February 1948, in the freezing winter, Comrade He Yingfen took five children to Nanjing to rescue Comrade Li Nian.I gave her some spiritual encouragement and a little material help.In April of the same year, Comrade Xing Guoyan's lover gave birth to a boy.She has very few relatives and friends in Shenyang, and I gave her some help before and after childbirth. In the autumn of the same year, the war in Northeast China was fierce, and the people in Shenyang were panicked; the railway traffic was interrupted, and many people rushed to buy air tickets to fly to Peiping.I went to visit Comrade Xing Guoyan's lover. She said: She also wants to go to Peiping, but with a baby in her arms and a lot of luggage, it is difficult to get on and off the plane; there is no place to live in Peiping.I paid for her luggage ticket, and checked two large wooden boxes full of clothes to Peiping. Then she flew to Peiping with the baby in her arms and stayed at my house.Comrade Wang Shunai's lover has many relatives and friends in Shenyang; I often visit her and tell her about the situation. In the autumn of 1948, she flew to Peiping to live in her father's house. So far, the family members of the arrested comrades have all left Shenyang.

At the end of October 1948, our army launched an attack on Shenyang. After two days and nights of fierce fighting, the Kuomintang army retreated. On November 2, Shenyang was liberated.I am very happy to see Comrade Comrade Luo Ronghuan's Anmin Announcement!I tried to find the leading organs of the party and get in touch with the organization. But at the beginning of liberation, the party's leading organs have not been made public, and have not been found.Through the Shenyang Federation of Industry and Commerce, I learned that the mayor of Shenyang is Zhu Qiwen.I went to Shenyang Municipal Government to contact. The receptionist asked: Do you have a letter of introduction from an underground organization?I said that the underground organization was destroyed by the enemy. The person at the reception said: You do not have a letter of introduction from a party organization or a party member, so you cannot accept a relationship with a party organization.I couldn't connect with the organization, so I had no choice but to go back to Peiping.

At that time, the train from Shenyang to Shanhaiguan was blocked. There is an endless stream of pedestrians entering the customs. The main means of transportation is a cart drawn by three mules. When passing through Heishan County, I saw many damaged tanks and armored vehicles. It is said that this is the place where the New Sixth Army (Mechanized Army) of the Kuomintang was wiped out. After six days of cold wind, I took a carriage and entered Shanhaiguan, another "No. 1 pass in the world".I recall that when I entered Tongguan (No. 1 Pass in the World) in 1939, the land of Northeast China was still trampled under the iron hooves of the Japanese army; when I entered Shanhaiguan today, the land of Northeast China was already flying red flags. There is a drop of my blood and sweat on the red flag, I am very happy!

Walk from Shanhaiguan to Tangshan, take a train, and return to Beiping.
