In mid-June 1937, I graduated from the Physics Department of Peking University with a bachelor's degree. The Shandong Provincial Department of Education introduced me to teach physics at the Provincial No. 5 Middle School (the school was located in Linyi County at the time), but I didn't want to leave Beiping. What I thought about most at the time was the future.I have two plans: if the War of Resistance against Japan breaks out, I will respond to the party’s call and join the war of resistance; if the Sino-Japanese war fails for the time being, and I hear that Tsinghua University will call for public-funded students studying in the United States in the fall, I will sign up for the test.As for the occupational problem, I don't worry about it. In the relevant middle schools in Peiping, I can find a few hourly classes to teach, and then I can eat.

Beginning on June 28, 1937, students from Peking University, Tsinghua University, Sino-French University, China University, Peking University School of Law and Business jointly held a military summer camp at Dajue Temple in Xishan, implementing military formation.Yang Yumin, a classmate from Peking University, served as the commander, Song Erchun (Song Ying) served as the director of the political department, and Sun Xingshi (Sun Sibai) served as the second team leader....The subjects of the summer camp: In addition to academic discussions, celebrity speeches, current affairs and politics, and various entertainments, Comrade Yuan Yelie, a veteran cadre of the Red Army, was also invited to talk about guerrilla warfare. At that time, I was part-time in a middle school in the city and could not attend the summer camp full time.In order to learn the knowledge of guerrilla warfare, I made a special trip to the summer camp and listened to Comrade Yuan Yelie’s lectures, so I learned some common sense of guerrilla warfare. Fight when you win, and leave if you can’t win”; the 16-character command for guerrilla warfare is “When the enemy comes, we will go; if the enemy advances, we will retreat; if the enemy is stationed, we will harass; , from south to north, hit and leave, and act at night."Based on this common sense of guerrilla warfare that I learned at summer camp.During the Anti-Japanese War, I also organized a small guerrilla group.
