In order to sabotage the anti-Japanese national salvation movement of students, the Kuomintang adopted two sets of methods: first, the Ministry of Education of the Nanjing government ordered universities and colleges in various places to let students elect representatives, led by the principal, and went to Nanjing to "listen" in mid-January 1936; The second is to order universities and middle schools in various places to put winter vacation ahead of schedule.In order to deal with the two sets of methods of the Kuomintang, the Peking University Student Union passed two resolutions: first, it resolutely refused to send representatives to Nanjing for "listening training";

Under the leadership of the Party, the Pingjin South Expansion Propaganda Group set up a general headquarters, with four groups under it, and more than 500 Pingjin students participated. In early January 1936, the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd regiments set off from Beiping, and the 4th regiment set off from Tianjin, marching and promoting. On January 8, the four armies joined forces in Gu'an County, Hebei Province, and carried out a four-day anti-Japanese and national salvation propaganda.The general headquarters held a meeting of all members of the regiment, analyzed the situation, summed up experience, reorganized the organization (the fourth regiment was incorporated into the first regiment), and decided on the future publicity plan.Each regiment set off separately and continued to expand publicity.These male and female students from Beiping and Tianjin braved the severe cold, went to the countryside, endured hunger and starvation, and sowed the fire of anti-Japanese and national salvation on the land of North China!Awakened the workers and peasants and exercised themselves.This is the social practice of Pingjin students.

In the era of anti-Japanese crimes and patriotic crimes, the southward expansion propaganda group organized by Pingjin students was also chased and intercepted by the Kuomintang military and police.The second regiment was dispersed by the military and police in Xinlizhuang, Hebei Province; the third regiment was surrounded by the military and police in Gaobeidian, Hebei Province, and was forced to return to Peiping.Only the first regiment of Peking University students (including some students from Tianjin) used the tactics of day and night travel to get rid of the military and police chasing after them, completed the propaganda task, and arrived at Baoding, the location designated by the headquarters.After two days of publicity here, I received a notice from the Peking Students' Federation and returned to Peking on January 24 (Lunar New Year's Eve).On behalf of the Peking University Student Union, I received them and had New Year's Eve dinner with the members of the Tianjin Propaganda League who stayed in Peking.

I stayed behind with several executive members of the Peking University Student Union and was responsible for supporting the southward expansion of the propaganda group.The main tasks are: (1) collect donations, send them to the front, and solve the food problem of the propaganda group; (2) communicate the activities of the propaganda group in the countryside to the students staying at the school and journalists in time to expand their influence; (3) The situation of the student movement in Peking University, Beiping, and Tianjin, especially the situation of the struggle against classes, was communicated to the students who went south to promote in a timely manner to boost morale.The few leaders we left behind successfully completed these tasks.
