Chapter 1 foreword

My long-time friend Marshall Huss is a forensic science expert who edited the highly technical book "Heavy Rules" for Maban. Huss had a colorful career, serving as an agent for the FBI for many years, working underground for the government in foreign countries, and returning to Minnesota to practice law. Because of his deep interest in court trials, Huss would rather give up his high-income lawyer's business and work as an investigator in court. In order to achieve justice, he did not hesitate to sacrifice his personal pursuit of wealth.I am in awe of his competence and moral courage in the many miscarriages of homicide that he has worked through to achieve happy endings.

Later, Hus wanted to publish a book on forensic science, and finally cooperated with the Maban company to realize this idea. Huss wrote me some time ago about Mr. Harper Mills (LL.M.D.) who is a medical examiner in Los Angeles. With the permission of Huss, I have reproduced below, as a preface to this book, a passage from his letter which I think gives a good account of forensic science. The content of the letter is as follows:

I think this passage from Huss gives a very detailed description of forensic science. Forensic science has grown in importance over the past decade, yet its importance is not only unknown to the general population, but even to many physicians.

From what I know of Huss, I am sure that he will hold Dr. Mills in high esteem, which also means that Dr. Mills does enjoy a high status in the field of forensic science, so I have decided to dedicate this book to—— Harper Mills, LL.B. and MD.
