Chapter 11 Section 1, Sexual Concepts

Section 1, Sexual Concepts There is a big difference between the sexual concept of homosexuals and that of heterosexuals. The main point is that the former must and can only be for the purpose of entertainment, while the latter has the purpose of procreation besides the purpose of entertainment.Whether it is the traditional sexual concept of Western Christianity or the Chinese ethical concept, it has been more or less advocated that reproduction should be the only legitimate purpose of sex, and to some extent entertainment motives are regarded as sinful or depraved. On this issue, like many other aspects in the comparison between Chinese and Western cultures, traditional Western ideas are mostly written and widely discussed. Because of clear definitions and open debates, the changes in these ideas in modern times are therefore important. It is obvious and unequivocal; however, China's traditional concept of sexuality is rarely put into words, and no one discusses it openly.Ethics in which reproduction is the only legitimate sexual motive, however, are ubiquitous.Even in modern times, no one openly disputes this traditional ethical concept, because it seems to be fighting with an insubstantial enemy.

The sexual behavior of homosexuals is inevitably regarded as "ridiculous" behavior by the Chinese because it is impossible to have reproductive motives at all.It is purely entertainment-motivated, and entertainment is play.Of course, games are not a serious matter, "Dun Lun" is a serious matter, and even homosexuals themselves often refer to their sexual behavior as "playing".Players, games too.In contrast, heterosexuals are less likely to refer to having sex with a different type as "play."Of course, many homosexuals call having sex "making love".In our view, there is nothing terribly wrong in this, unless there is no emotional element at all between the parties involved in the sex act.In contrast, a large number of sexual behaviors between heterosexuals are mixed with reproductive motives, so it is doubtful whether they can be called "lovemaking", and many heterosexual sexual behaviors have no love at all.

A survey respondent with a low level of education understood his sexual behavior in this way: "I just think it's fun, interesting, and comfortable." Another said: "Sex is just for fun. What's the difference between playing and playing with men? Playing girls are the same." Another said, "I always leave after playing, and I don't pay much attention to emotional matters. Talk to people and talk about how you like to play." The recreational pursuit of sexuality sometimes takes the form of an extreme aesthetic pursuit among homosexuals.A person in the circle who is famous for his sexiness once expressed this: "It is best to have sex with the same person once, and the second or third time is also okay. If there are too many, it will not work, and you will have the feeling of life, so the best is Once.” Notice how they say “the feeling of living,” which can be read as “the feeling of living.”Here, he clearly distinguishes between making love and living. The former is a good feeling, the latter is not so good.A middle-aged homosexual also expressed a similar feeling: "At the beginning, I liked each other more, but after a few times, I no longer have desires. After a few times, the sexual attraction is gone."

One survey respondent, who described himself as an "elite" among homosexuals, considered it a "primitive view" to associate sexuality with reproduction alone. It is undeniable that the separation of sex and reproduction is indeed a feature of the concept of modern sex.Because of the purely recreational, non-reproductive nature of same-sex sexual behavior, people often regard it as absurd, and homosexual activities of married people are sometimes even regarded as less serious than heterosexual extramarital affairs. This point is discussed in detail in the chapter "Married Life".
