Chapter 17 Postscript "National Narrative"

It is rare to write something like "postscript" after finishing a work. But at the end of this "Nation - 2011 Unprecedented Actions in China's Diplomatic History", I felt that there were many things in my heart that were not told to the readers, and I was not happy, so I had this "postscript"... In ancient times, there was a saying of "supplementary notes", and this "postscript" of mine belongs to such "supplementary notes".Because when creating the main text, many contents are affected by structural arrangement and other factors, so they are not included in it.Therefore, I also have a deep feeling of "owing" favor in my heart.

For example, I owe a favor to Zhang Qiyue, the former spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs who first approached me about creating this work, and now the executive deputy secretary of the party committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She is very well-known, and we have a very good impression of her: she is capable, elegant, and capable. She belongs to the small number of female diplomats who add color to the country's image. She had in-depth exchanges with me on the creation ideas and details of this work many times, and personally arranged for many people in charge to communicate with me and accept interviews.

For example, I owe more to Counselor Wang Yong and Counselor Zheng Xiyuan who have been involved in the entire interview and review process.Especially Counselor Zheng Xiyuan, he basically participated in the interview and review process of my book, and gave me special help in many aspects.Although he was arranged by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to assist me in the creation of this book, he quickly became my friend because of his professional ability and good personal qualities.Such friendship and camaraderie are of special significance for a writer to complete a work, but usually some units don't know much about it.This makes me thank Mr. Zheng Xiyuan at the same time, I have to thank the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for this careful arrangement - it makes me have an unusually good impression of the overall image of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.I should also thank comrades such as Sun Pengyuan who helped me.

However, there are many young diplomats in the Consular Protection Center that need special mention. They have done many touching and epic things in the Libyan evacuation. They are even more so.There is no doubt that their deeds should be recorded in the annals of history. However, due to the limitation of interview conditions and space, there is no proper description of their achievements in this book, but this will still not affect the respectable and lovely image of these people. The entire large-scale evacuation is a special large-scale operation that transcends national borders with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as the main body. The State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Defense, the General Staff, etc., and even many ordinary citizens and foreign friendly people participated in it. His contributions should also be celebrated and recorded in history.

I would like to mention two leaders in particular, one is Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi and the other is State Councilor Dai Bingguo. The communication with Foreign Minister Yang can be said to be a perfect fit.I even think that there is a kind of guilt in interviewing the foreign minister who is full of affairs and busy every day-because nothing like our writing can be compared with the ever-changing and important foreign affairs of a country, so I have Why bother your foreign minister? However, Foreign Minister Yang met as scheduled and had a very smooth talk with me.I have heard before that my Jiangsu fellow likes Suzhou Pingtan very much, and he can play the piano well.Piano players all need a detached tranquil state of mind and extraordinary skills.I once asked Foreign Minister Yang whether there was a tacit understanding between his hobbies and his diplomatic work. He laughed and didn't answer, but some of his words left a deep impression on me.He said that diplomatic work is to keep in mind the supremacy of national interests, and to deal with any complicated diplomatic affairs, the basic principle is how to benefit one's own country while achieving win-win cooperation. At the same time, he also emphasized that it is necessary to predict before doing things, to think three-dimensionally and pay attention to the sense of rhythm when encountering problems.Although diplomacy attaches great importance to results, its process is particularly important. The process is precisely the concrete manifestation of a country's diplomatic thought, diplomatic art and diplomatic tactics. The standard and result of doing things must be worthy of one's own country and people. At the same time, he specifically pointed out that a big country must have tolerance.

The interview with State Councilor Dai Bingguo exceeded the set time and content. In his office in Zhongnanhai that day, we naturally mainly talked about the withdrawal of Libya, but what impressed me most about this leader was his approachable and humble demeanor. He talked frankly about how he went to the fields with his parents to plant rice seedlings when he was four and a half years old, how he came to Beijing after graduating from school, and later spent more than half of his life on the diplomatic front for more than forty years. As I said, you have to be calm and work hard in whatever you do.Perhaps this is the inner balance and support point for a leader in the diplomatic work of a major country to strategize and grasp the overall situation.

Comrade Dai Bingguo has a few words that I remember deeply: no matter what position a person holds, he must keep learning. When a country is strong, it can be proud, but not proud; it can be heroic, but not arrogant. The Chinese nation has a history of 5,000 years of civilization. We must let all countries in the world feel that we are an amiable and respectable nation that can be dealt with, and of course a nation that cannot be bullied by others. Writing "The Country", I have many emotions: first, I feel that the rulers of our motherland are pragmatic for the people and make wise decisions; second, I feel the strength and strength of our motherland; third, I feel the advantages and strength of our national system; The ability and excellence of the resources and diplomatic team; the fifth is the loveliness and respectability of our people, and the selfless dedication; the sixth is the meticulousness, perfection and great success of the entire campaign.

"National narrative" is the main style of my reportage creation. This "National Narrative" titled "National" can be said to be a new symbolic significance and a "very happy" narrative process of the creative style I have always adhered to.From a creative point of view, "National Narrative" requires internal artistic requirements such as control ability, high level of thinking, delicate plot, vivid narrative, full characters, compact structure, and exciting scenes like stage plays or film and television dramas. It is by no means blunt or simple. , Rigid high, large, full.Characters and stories must be the core of the entire narrative work, and ideas and themes must be presented in vivid characters and gripping stories.A compact and reasonable structure is the beam and pillar to realize the height and overall situation of the "national narrative", and the language and plot are obviously the bricks and concrete between these magnificent beams and majestic pillars.

Reportage used to be a literary form that Chinese people especially liked. But over the years, people have often heard people talking about its shortcomings, and everyone is very confused about why they can't see excellent works. In fact, it's not that there are no such works, but that good works are often overwhelmed by chaos and "gross".People are disgusted with those advertising-style articles labeled as "reportage", so it is easy to attribute that kind of thing to "reportage", which actually makes us who are engaged in pure reportage creators feel a little wronged.I know that excellent reportage works (including documentary works) have far more readers than novels every year, and their influence is also greater. In the latest "Five One Project" award selected by the Central Propaganda Department, 21 of the 30 award-winning works in the literary book category are reportage works, 8 of the 20 award-winning films, and six or seven of the award-winning TV series. The chapters are all adapted from reportage (or documentary works). This is a good illustration that readers and audiences in today's era are very willing to see non-fiction works that truly reflect life and objectively represent history.

"Nation" is my second work this year after this.It is very hard work to create after work, but because there are so many things worth recording in our great era and great country, I will continue to do this kind of "tired and happy" thing until the end of life...
