赵海涛，我采访过的一位博士，他是2010年中国石油大学（北京）毕业生，学习的是地质资源与地质工程专业。这位河南小伙子获得博士学位后即奔赴塔里木油田就业，而家乡在河南焦作。他说他签约到西部塔里木油田工作主要有几个方面的原因：一是西部人才缺口大。自国家开始实施西部大开发政策以来，虽然已经有很多人到西部去建功立业，但从总量上来讲西部的人才缺口仍然很大，与其到人才“拥挤”的中东部争夺一席之地，不如到渴求人才的西部地区实现自己的理想，“错位竞争”未尝不是一种体现自身价值和实现人生理想的智慧。二是西部发展前景好。西部的自然环境虽然比不上中东部，但是人才成长环境好。塔里木油田石油和天然气储量丰富，近年来进入了油气并举、规模化加快发展的新阶段，广阔的发展前景为员工提供了更多的机遇，不断健全和完善的人才引进、培养、使用和激励新机制，也为他这样的石油院校毕业生的成长提供了广阔的舞台。三是自己的兴趣使然。读博期间，赵海涛曾随导师参与过“973项目”——《中国西部典型叠合盆地油气成藏机制与分布规律》中一个有关塔里木油田的子项目，小赵主要负责缝洞检测和分析。可以说在塔里木搞勘探是一个世界性的难题，而他所学的专业就是地质资源与地质工程，正是因为有了与项目的前期接触，小赵对塔里木产生了浓厚的兴趣，所以毕业后他想继续去那里将自己所学的专业知识运用到实际工作中。
