Chapter 33 11. Review conclusion on historical issues

Ding Ling was looking forward to reviewing the conclusion, but also afraid of reviewing the conclusion. She was looking forward to the conclusion of the re-examination to return her innocence, but she was also afraid that the conclusion of the re-examination would "uphold the original sentence".She came back with trepidation. What she saw was not the review conclusion of the "anti-Party" issue, but the review conclusion of the historical issue. On October 24, 1956, the Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China produced the sixth draft of "Conclusions on Comrade Ding Ling's Historical Issues".The conclusion says:

"The circumstances of Comrade Ding Ling's account of being arrested and fleeing from Nanjing are basically consistent with what has been found out at that time. Based on this, we draw the following conclusions on Comrade Ding Ling's historical issues: "1. Comrade Ding Ling was arrested for more than three years. Although he fought against the enemy in the initial period, he also had the idea of escaping from the enemy and returning to the revolutionary ranks. This wish was also realized with the help; but Comrade Ding Ling made serious political mistakes after being arrested. First of all, she did not take a firm attitude towards her husband Feng Da who had defected to the enemy. Instead, she continued to live with him instead. This is a manifestation of the loss of the position that a Communist Party member should have, and it has caused extremely unfavorable influence and difficulties to oneself politically. At the same time, Comrade Ding Ling once succumbed to the enemy and wrote a statement to the enemy. This behavior is actually a A traitorous act.

"2. Comrade Ding Ling did not dare to face up to her mistakes after her arrest during the relatively long period from her return to northern Shaanxi in 1936 until the rectification movement in 1943. Therefore, she did not explain to the party; In 1940, because some comrades doubted her history, the Organization Department of the Central Committee conducted a special investigation on this, but because Comrade Ding Ling continued to conceal her mistakes, the investigation at that time still did not reach a correct conclusion. In 1943, during the rectification campaign at the Central Party School, she only explained her own problems. This behavior of concealing her political mistakes from the Party showed that Comrade Ding Ling was not loyal and honest enough to the Party at that time, which was also wrong. (Limited to conditions at the time , no formal conclusions have been reached on this issue by the organization.)

"Three, although Comrade Ding Ling made the above-mentioned mistakes after being arrested, except for the above-mentioned circumstances that have been investigated, no other words or deeds that are not conducive to the party have been found. Therefore, the nature of her mistakes is that she committed them in front of the enemy. She made a political mistake. In this review, she reviewed this mistake again. As a result of this review, she did not find any new problems in her history. Therefore, the period after Comrade Ding Ling was arrested History has been vetted." Chen Ming remembered that this conclusion was sent to his home by Li Xin.After Ding Ling and Chen Ming read it repeatedly, on December 1, Chen Ming wrote a comment on this conclusion:

“(1) I basically agree with the Central Propaganda Department’s censorship of my history. Two problems in my history have now been verified, namely (1) I fled Nanjing after being arrested with the help of the Party I realized my wish; (2) I wrote the statement because I made a political mistake in front of the enemy. "(2) My account quoted in the conclusion does not accord with the facts accurately, so I briefly add the following: (1) 'In the initial period after being arrested, I fought against the enemy (such as scolding the Kuomintang for killing writers, preparing to Sacrifice, suicide, etc.), and refused to work for the enemy', in fact, the struggle against the enemy was not limited to the initial period. Later, I refused the enemy's tricks to work for the enemy several times (such as refusing to write and revise the script for Zhang Daofan, Rejecting Yao Pengzi’s request for me to write manuscripts, etc.) Finding the relationship with the party is also a struggle, and finally being able to escape Nanjing with the help of the organization is also related to my own struggle. (2) I wrote the statement because of the deceitful persuasion and persuasion of the traitor Feng Da My own weakness (unsteady stand), lack of experience in struggle (at that time I thought that Feng Da had no other crimes of betraying the organization and comrades; I believed that he confessed in front of me, and believed that he really wanted me to return to the revolutionary ranks. ) I did not know that secret agents Gu Shunzhang, Wang Shengdi, Xu Enzeng, etc. had directly participated in the deception and persuasion of me. (3) During the six months from April to November 1934, the traitor Feng Da worked as a text translator in a pseudo agency. I didn’t know that this agency was the Central Unified Secret Service.”

Chen Ming told the author in August 2002: We dare not call these opinions "reserved opinions", but only "supplementary" opinions. Even if these opinions are not mentioned, we have concerns, worrying that they will bring new troubles. So Ding Ling wrote a letter to Li Zhilian, asking him to make up his mind: "Comrade Zhilian: First of all, I should thank you and other comrades for spending a lot of time on my conclusions. And I believe that you understand me, understand my shortcomings, and understand the places that are not my shortcomings. For more than a year, I have been in such a difficult situation, you also understand...

"About the conclusion, I didn't have anything at all, but there were one or two points that I didn't think were very appropriate. I didn't want to write it at first. After thinking about it, I felt that as long as I had a little opinion, I still wanted to write it." Speak up, especially to tell you who is in charge of this matter. So I ended up writing a little bit of a statement. But I still want you to look at it and think for me if I don't have to write it. Or I wrote more What is inappropriate. Because you have more experience than me on many issues in the party. And you must be more objective than me. Therefore, please take a look. Please consider: It is better for you to accept these opinions, or send them as an attachment intact. Or do you think there is anything else I should consider. Please repeat.”

Li Zhilian's solution was to submit Ding Ling's opinion to Zhang Jichun for signature, and then submit it to the Central Organization Department for approval along with the conclusions of the Central Propaganda Department. So far, the review of Ding Ling's history has come to an end.
