Because Liushahe's "Grass and Trees" was "slammed" nationwide, he became a "famous rightist". In Shanghai, a second-year student in the Journalism Department of Fudan University was also labeled as a "rightist" for a prose poem and was tortured. It's just that the "level" of "criticism" he received was not as "high" as Liushahe, so not so many people knew about his suffering. After the release of the first edition, since June 1996, he wrote many letters to the author from Guizhou, and sent reminiscence articles. He said in the letter: "I hope that Mr. can have the opportunity to write about those 'unknown' student 'rightists'. Each of them is a biography. Their situation is actually worse than that of the 'famous' 'rightists'." Disaster."

His name is Xu Chengmiao.According to his recollection, his prose poem "Advice" was written like this: There is a flower bed in front of the chemistry building of Fudan University.Between classes, we emerged from the cathedral-like balcony to stretch our legs in the sun.A classmate named Xu Fuda stood in front of the flower bed, looking focused.I walked over and patted him on the shoulder and asked: What are you looking at?Xu Fuda answered irrelevantly: How well this flower blooms, but it is a pity that it wilted within a few days. This question and answer planted the seeds of disaster.

Xu Chengmiao's prose poem "Advice" is very short, with a total of only about 150 words. The full text is as follows: You said to me with infinite sadness: "The flowers just bloomed, and they thanked immediately-the good times don't last long!" Let me tell you: without flowers and withers, how can they bear seeds? It should be known that the blooming of flowers is a "good scene", but the harvest is even more "good scene". You said to me so regretfully: "The scenery at dusk is the most beautiful, but it is a pity that it will soon be replaced by night!" Let me tell you: Although today's dusk has passed, there will be a more beautiful tomorrow morning?

Dear friends, keep your eyes on the front! "Admonition" was written in early 1957 and has nothing to do with the "Anti-Rightist Movement". On May 9, 1957, "Admonishment" was published in the "Fudan" school magazine. In June, Chen Jiahua, editor of Shanghai "Literary Monthly", went to Fudan University to collect manuscripts and selected "Admonition" from the school magazine. In August, "Advice" was published in Shanghai "Literary Monthly". In November, the turmoil suddenly rose. The Shanghai "Literary Monthly" published that month published the article "Such "Advice"", which was put on the "line" and "line", saying that the "Admonition" was "to encourage the rightists to make a comeback"!

Therefore, Xu Chengmiao was labeled as a "rightist" for 22 years! That "Such "Advice"" began with a menacing question: The first thing that confuses me is the question of the object of "advise"; whom to advise?Leftist? No!Because the party's policy of "letting a hundred flowers bloom and a hundred schools of thought contend" not only does not "close", but also always "lets go".It is through discussions and debates that "fragrant flowers" and "poisonous weeds" can be distinguished, and "poisonous weeds" are hoeed to make fragrant flowers more gorgeous and fragrant. What every revolutionist and supporter of the revolution feels is not the "fading of flowers", but the "flowers of socialism" and "flowers of the people".Since there is no "flower thanks", of course no one will say "infinitely sentimental" that "the flower has just bloomed, and I thank you immediately".However, Xu Chengmiao was not like this. He lamented that "good times don't last long" and felt sorry for the "poisonous weeds"; this can only be those "poisonous weeds" screaming mournfully in death, trying to confuse people and slander the party's policy of "letting a hundred flowers bloom".

The socialist society led by the Communist Party is shining brightly, and its construction has achieved brilliant results; the backward old China has changed its appearance.Every upright person will not feel that "evening beauty" has passed and "night is coming".Only those rightists who hate the Communist Party, socialism, and the people slander New China like a "dark night."They slander socialist construction as a "mess", so they want to "kill the Communists" and "request the Communist Party to step down", trying to break this so-called "dark night" and fantasize about a "beautiful tomorrow"—that is, the restoration of capitalism in China. But that's out of the question.

Xu Chengmiao's "advice" is full of such "fantasies", and it is to advise the gentlemen of the right. "Such "Advice"" condemned "Admonition" as a "poisonous weed": What about the content of the "advice"?The author is not "advising" the rightists to lay down their arms, stop fighting the Communist Party, the people, and socialism, abandon the dark and turn to the light, and start a new life; on the contrary, the author first explained that "flowers wither" in order to "seed", hoping that waiting is more important than "flowers blooming" Good "harvest", the "flower" here actually refers to the "poisonous weeds" of the rightists, so the author advises them to "endure" the passing of this "dark night" and wait for "a more beautiful morning tomorrow".In the end the author wants his "dear friend" to keep his "eyes ahead".

People can't help asking, from what standpoint does Xu Chengmiao's "advice" of more than 100 words come from? What is the purpose? Although "advice" is a short prose poem, it is a poisonous "poisonous weed" that we must eradicate. The "criticism" of "Admonition" is exactly the same as the "criticism" of "Cao Mu Pian". Not to mention extending the "Admonition" as an admonition to "gentlemen of the right", and criticizing it politically, this is in itself very absurd. As mentioned earlier, "Admonition" was written in early 1957 and published on May 9. At that time, the "anti-rightists" had not yet begun, so where did the "advice" to "gentlemen of the right" come from? !

However, as "Advisory" was labeled as a "poisonous weed", the 17-year-old author Xu Chengmiao was also labeled as a "rightist"! It is because of the prose poem "Advice" with more than 150 characters that Xu Chengmiao suffered for 22 years! This is a "new record" for China's "literary prison"! During the "Cultural Revolution", in a small county called Guiding in Guizhou Province, Xu Chengmiao "built a high platform at the intersection of the city center": "I was dragged to the front of the platform in the shape of a jet; my hair was pulled tightly , face up, facing the strong light. Glasses have been knocked off... When the critics accused me of being "one of the great rightists in the country's literary and art circles", that smile surged up again uncontrollably; For a while, I was still a student, and I hadn't even stepped into the literary and art circles; the 'big rightist', congratulations!"

In 1970, misfortunes never come singly. Xu Chengmiao fell seriously ill and underwent a major operation. The cumulative length of the incision was more than two feet, and more than 200 stitches were required.Poverty and sickness, family breakdown, old parents, little daughter and weak.He fell to the lowest point in his life! Xu Chengmiao has been in the dust for 22 years, and when he sees the sun, he has entered the year of "no confusion".The great youth was spent amidst reprimands and humiliation. Today, Xu Chengmiao is a professor at Guizhou University for Nationalities.Whenever he looks back on the little poem "Admonishment" and on the "Anti-Rightist Movement", he feels very sad!
