After several years and five drafts, the long reportage "National Mission—Investigation of the First Tax Case of the Republic" is finally published. When we accepted the task of writing a book manuscript, we never realized that once we took over, it would mean embarking on a creative road full of difficulties and obstacles.Especially when the second draft has to be overthrown and restarted, the complicated mood and creative pressure are beyond words. Compared with the "Xiamen Yuanhua case", which can be called the largest tax case since the founding of the People's Republic of China, the "Chaoshan Tax Case" is the "trivial" case.

Among the 150 tax-related cases cracked, most of them are independent cases that are not related to each other, and the cases are similar, which brings great difficulties to the creation. We gradually explored the creative idea of ​​the final draft from several drafts.In terms of the framework and structure of the work, first of all, the focus is on cracking down on fraud as a national action, because when describing the process of cracking down on fraud by the "807" working group of the State Council with the taxation department as the main body, it is easy to write that the State Administration of Taxation itself is investigating tax cases.Secondly, use the main characters to run through the investigation and handling process of the case, grasp the individual characteristics of the scattered cases, focus on the big ones, discard similarities and seek differences, weave closely, and connect isolated cases into an organic whole.Third, deal with the relationship between literature and politics, literature and law from the perspective of politics.
