They stayed until closing time at Nobe Hills, where the steaks were good, and the whole band seemed to be playing just for them, with Apule in his arms, trying to dance with the grace and lightness of his best, which made me wonder. Babi thought of some kind of wild animal. What they talked about was music, wine and other light topics.Ai Pulu seems to have forgotten that besides being a beautiful redhead, she is also a danger to others.Babi thought much the same way through most of the evening. Ai Pu's shining white teeth reminded Babi of the white jade brooch in his pocket from time to time.It must be hers, but he didn't dare to take it out and return it rashly. There always seems to be some secret in her green eyes, so that he can't forget that the cause of Dr. Monrick's death has not really been clarified, and her "confession" of herself only makes Bobby's doubts more complicated.

He was going to take her home, but her own car was parked in the parking lot behind the bar, so he had to walk her to it.Just as Ai Pulu was about to get into the car, he grabbed her arm. "Ai Pulu," Babi hesitated for a moment, not knowing what to say.Ai Pulu's encouraging gaze gave him courage. "I have an inexplicable feeling about you, a strange feeling that I can't quite explain—" He stopped, looking embarrassed.Ai Pulu raised his face and faced him.Babi wanted to kiss her very much, but a surge of self-esteem in his heart forced him to convert his impulse into words to express.

"A feeling that has been accumulated for a long time, as if I have seen you somewhere before tonight." He was obviously puzzled, "As if you are a part of something, very long ago but very important, it seems to belong to the two of us, as if It was you who awakened something that was sleeping inside me." Babi shrugged helplessly, "I want to tell you, but I really can't tell." He whispered. "Maybe it's love." Ai Pulu smiled in the dim light. Her velvety voice hummed softly a tune from their dance just now. Let it be.It has been many years since the last time Babi was in love, but even if the love in the past was true love, Babi has never been so deeply shocked as he is now.If Apuru's bright red lips longed for his kisses, he could handle that; Vague, strange things, a awakened power hidden in his heart for a long time, a vague feeling in his memory, worried him, made him uneasy. And these only exist in the stage of feeling and cannot be expressed in words, which makes him shudder even more.

"The wind is really cold!" Instead of kissing her, he pushed her into the car suddenly and even rudely, and then "bang" He closed the car door without hesitation, "Thank you for spending a wonderful night with me." He concealed the conflict of inner feelings and tried to make his voice sound natural. "I'll call you tomorrow, to Troy Garden." Sitting in the car, Ai Pulu raised her eyes to look at Babi, from her bright smile and slightly parted lips, it is not difficult to see that she is very proud of being able to disturb Babi so uneasy, " Good night, Babi." Ai Pulu said goodbye softly, then bent her arms, started the car, and Babi stood there blankly, watching her drive away into the night, fingers still groping for the white cloth in her pocket. Jade wolf brooch. He himself didn't understand why he didn't have the courage to return the brooch to Ai Pulu. The cold wind blew through his clothes, Babi walked towards his old car full of suspicion.

Barbie reported in the Star that Dr. Monrique's terse funeral was to take place at two o'clock the next afternoon.Although the wind has changed to the southerly, it is still cold.Only Monrique's widow and a few close friends from the university and foundation attended the funeral. Nick Spinwick and Lex Sturt were among the coffinbearers, their grim expressions masking their grief. However, Sam was not there.Babi saw Nora standing not far from Rowena, with Rowena's nurse and her dog beside her.He approached Nora softly, and asked in a low voice of concern, "What, is Sam sick, Noto? I thought he'd be here."

Nora, who was looking intently at the grave, was taken aback by Babi's question. "Hi, Willie, it's you." She smiled bleakly at Babi.Nora has always been friendly to Babi, despite Monrique and Sam's intentions to distance themselves from him. "No, he's all right, but he's staying home with that green wooden box they brought back from Asia. Can you guess what they'll put in it?" Babi shook his head, unable to guess. Rowena must have heard their conversation. She turned around and faced them. She looked terrified and pale. She wore a pair of opaque sunglasses, and her slender fingers tightly grasped the chain of the big dog. and a silver collar.

"Willie Bobby?" Her voice was sharp. "Is that you?" "It's me, Rowena." Babi replied, thinking of the right words to comfort Rowena. However, Rowena didn't wait for him to say anything, and immediately continued. "I still want to talk to you, Willie," she said urgently, "I hope it's not too late for me to help you. Can you come to my house this afternoon? How about four o'clock? " Babi took a breath and stared at Rowena, unable to guess why she had such a serious expression, although the pained but still gentle face disappeared from the ground, which made people look a little scared. He recalled her warning about Ai Pulu on the phone, wondering how much trauma the doctor's death had caused to her spirit.

"Four," he assured her. "I'll be there at four, Rowena." At five minutes to four, Babi parked the car in front of Rowena's house on time. Her red brick house is on University Street, because Dr. Monrick has invested all the funds raised for the foundation and his own assets in various research projects, but his house has been in disrepair for a long time, looks very dilapidated, and the shutters need The lawn was being repaired, and the lawn was bare with no grass. Babi stepped forward to ring the doorbell, and Rowena came to open the door for him and invited him into the house.

"Willie, thank you for coming on time." Her voice was low, kind, and very peaceful. The grief of losing her husband made her look haggard, but her demeanor was still there, and her manner was as confident and accurate as a person with limited eyesight. After closing the door, she pointed to a chair next to her and sat down cleanly. Bobby stood there looking around. The old-fashioned furnishings in the front hall were still the same as when he and Sam lived here as students. A large bouquet of roses on the grand piano exudes a burst of fragrance, and the names of Sam and Nora are written on the business card under the roses. The slow fire in the old-fashioned fireplace added warmth to the room, and the big yellow dog Turk lay in front of the fireplace, looking up and down at Bobbi with his alert yellow eyes.

"Sit down." Rowena urged Babi softly, "I sent Miss Alfred to go shopping, because we have to talk alone, Willy." Bobby felt uncomfortable and a little puzzled, but he sat down on the chair Rowena had prepared for him. "I want to tell you, Rowena, how regretful I am." Babi stammered, "Dr. Monrique passed away suddenly at his most glorious moment. This is really unacceptable." "He didn't die of natural causes," said Rowena quietly. "He was murdered—I guess you know that, Willie." Babi swallowed his saliva. He didn't want to discuss his concerns with anyone, at least not until he had figured it out and made up his mind about his relationship with Ai Puru.

"I guess I don't know," he said matter-of-factly. "Shiye, did you meet Ai Pulu last night?" "We had dinner together," he said, looking up at Rowena. She walked up to him very accurately, with one hand on the piano, her tall and straight body, matched with a well-tailored and solemn black suit, she looked extraordinarily solemn.A faint hatred suddenly arose in Babi's heart. "I know Turk doesn't like Abelu Bell, but I think she's very unusual." "I guess you'd think so." Rowena's voice was as dignified as her look, "but, I've talked to Nora Quinn, and she doesn't like that woman either, Turk doesn't, I don't. Here There must be a reason. Willy, you should know." Bobby sat there upright, uncomfortable. He didn't need Dr. Monrick's widow and Sam Quinn's wife to choose his girlfriends, but he didn't say that.Turk squirmed in front of the fireplace, keeping his eyes on Babi. "That's a bad woman," Rowena whispered. "It's not suitable for you." She moved closer to Babi, the silver jewelry and silver brooch glinting coldly in the light. "I want you to promise me, Willie, that you will never see that April Belle woman again." "Why, Rowena?" Babi thought it was amused, and at the same time, tried not to think about Ai Pulu's bizarre confession, "Don't you know that I am already an adult?" "Willie, I'm blind." Rowena Monrik slightly turned her white-haired head to one side, raised her black sunglasses, as if she saw Babi. "However, it's not like everything is always the same. From a young age, I helped my husband and enjoyed a part of those strange, lonely and even terrible special wars with him. And now , he was dead, murdered, I think." At this point she paused, then continued softly, "And your very attractive new friend, April Bell, was the one who killed Meng Rick's hidden enemy. " Babi took a deep breath and wanted to defend himself, but he knew he couldn't say anything. He was very nervous and wanted to argue for Ai Pulu, but he clearly remembered the pain of Monrique before his death, the brooch on the heart of the strangled little black cat, and he had already obtained Ai Pulu's confession. He swallowed hard helplessly, and said in a low voice and very disturbed: "I can't believe it, how could she do this," Rowena stood there grimly. "That woman killed my husband." Di's voice became sharper, and the big yellow dog stood up and stood behind him, "Mark's death is beyond our control. However, you are now in danger. " She walked slowly towards Babi, holding out her thin hands.Babi stood up silently, took her hand, her hand was stiff and cold, tightly grasping Babi's fingers, Babi felt the weight of it. "Let me remind you! Willie, please listen to me!" She spoke in a low voice. "Is it really that serious, Rowena?" Babi wanted to laugh, "Ai Pulu is a very charming mantis, and I have no allergies." Rowena's paralyzed fingers began to tremble. "April Bell didn't mean to kill you, Willy," she said softly. "You're in greater danger than death, uglier than death. Because she's trying to change you—to disturb the depths of your soul." Something that shouldn't be awakened." The big yellow dog made a rustling sound, approached Rowena, and then stood next to her long black dress. "She's so bad, Willy." Rowena's dark glasses looked straight at him uneasily. "I can see the ugliness in her soul, and I know she's going to subdue you, make you the evil kind she is. You'd rather be like Poor Mark died like that and couldn't let her lead you down evil ways. Believe me, Willie!" Babi let go of Rowena's cold hand, trying not to tremble, "No, Rowena," he argued unhappily. "I'm afraid I can't believe what you say. I think your husband's death may have been caused by excessive agitation and fatigue. He was, after all, in his seventies, and he was chronically ill. You think too much. " After finishing speaking, he walked around to the piano. "Would you like to play something and relax?" "I don't have time to play any music right now." She said, patting the big yellow dog's head lightly. Then, she became tense. "I'm going to continue poor Mark's unfinished battle with Sam, Nick, and Lester. Now you don't want to think about my warning to stay away from April Bell?" "I can't." Babi couldn't help it, and there was dissatisfaction in his words, "She is a charming girl, I can't believe that she would do something ugly." He tried not to make his voice too stiff, "But, I am really worried about her. You're sorry, Rowena. There's nothing I can do if you insist on it. But you do need help, why don't you give Dr Glenn a call?" Rowena stepped back, still maintaining her original demeanor. "No, Baby." Her voice was still neither high nor low, "I'm fully awake and normal," her thin fingers tightened on Turk's collar, and Turk leaned against Rowena tightly, Not so friendly eyes looked at Babi.Rowena is still so slow. "I've been a psychotherapist, and I think you need to see Dr. Gran, before your relationship with Epuro is over." "I'm sorry, Rowena, I should go." Babi said suddenly. "Don't go, Willie!" cried the Rowena, "don't believe—" Babi didn't hear what Rowena said behind him. He drove all the way back to the city, but it was difficult to concentrate. He had expected the absurd warning to Rowena Monrik, but he really wanted to call Aboulo's apartment, but he held back again and again. He wants to see her. The sky gradually darkened, and he gradually felt better. After Sheng, when he left the office in the city, he calmed down somehow. Obviously, it was too late for a phone call. On his way home, he stopped at a pub across the street, had a drink, then a second, and left with a full bottle to take back to his apartment on Bright Street. He figured that a hot shower, with some alcohol, would help him relax. He took off his clothes and found the white jade brooch in his pocket. He stood there for a long time, flipping the brooch absently in his palm, watching with wide-eyed eyes, all kinds of associations popping up in his mind. The pup's eyes on that brooch were the same color as Ai Pulu's, especially when she was intimidated or disturbed. The running limbs of the little wolf and the howling head are all carved very delicately. Judging from the polished surface, the brooch must be very old.He had never seen a trinket of such exquisite workmanship and such smooth lines. Thinking about the white wolf fur coat of Ai Pulu again, he suddenly had a kind of curiosity, as a symbol, what this little wolf means to Ai Pulu, this is quite an interesting object of psychological analysis, Dr. Gran There must be a conclusion. At this moment, he really wanted to find an opportunity to see Dr. Gran's personal medical records. The little green wolf eyes seemed to blink at him maliciously, and he shuddered, squeezing his eyes hard, trying to get rid of the feeling. He seemed to be just like that, half undressed, standing beside the creaking chest of drawers in the bedroom, falling asleep. The damn brooch was going to hypnotize him.He endured it so as not to flush it down the toilet. It's nerve-wracking to think that way. Of course, he admitted that he was a little scared of Aipuru, but he was always afraid of women-maybe Dr. Grann could explain why.Even the most accessible women would make him feel uneasy, and the more important a woman is to him, the more uneasy he would be. The hypnotic effect of breasts on him has no basis, he is sure. The reason for this is simply because the brooch represents Ai Pulu at this moment. He should wean himself off whiskey gradually, that was all his troubles, Dr. Grann would have told him.If he followed the impulse just now and flushed the brooch down the toilet, it would only mean that he accepted that Ai Pulu was really what she said.He cannot accept that statement. Barbie put the brooch carefully into an empty cigar case on the chest of drawers, along with a thimble, his old watch, an unused fountain pen, and a few used razor blades, but Epu But Lu always made him unable to let go.He couldn't give up, although it wasn't very strong, but he couldn't shake off the idea that Ai Pulu was indeed what she said - he didn't even want to think about that word - she was indeed a wizard, a witch. Born to be different, he prefers to use this term.He remembered reading some of Reinder's lab reports at Duke University.Scientists with a cautious attitude believe that some people understand the world through channels other than the general senses. These people can directly control the accidental or sudden events in the world without using the sensory functions of the body, which is called "probability" in philosophy. Is Ai Pulu born with this specificity and brought it into full play?Probabilities—Babbi remembered Monrique talking about things beyond the classroom in his anthropology class. That's anthropology class number 413.The doctor explained with twinkling eyes that probability is the core concept of modern physics. He said that the law of nature is not absolute, but the law of statistical averages that people have agreed upon. He pointed to the lamp used as a paperweight on the podium and said that the reason why the lamp can be placed on the podium is only because of the atoms in the trembling A coincidence of collision chances. As far as the podium is concerned, it has a faint but very certain probability at any time, and the seemingly well-structured podium may miss the light at any time.Babi remembered that the lamp that Dr. Monrique used as a paperweight was an ancient terracotta product that the Doctor must have found in the ruins of ancient Rome. The round top of the lamp is a black terracotta relief, showing a she-wolf feeding the heroic founder of Rome with milk. The explanation of modern physics to the entire universe is based on the theoretical basis of probability. The stability of atoms depends on the probability of origin, and its instability also depends on this probability. Such as the atomic bomb explosion, the direct control of thinking on probability is undoubtedly A channel to obtain huge energy, and this channel has a powerful deterrent effect. Reind's experiment seems to prove the existence of this kind of control. Babi wondered whether Ai Pulu was born with this unique and very terrifying Can the power of thought control the operation of probabilities? Not likely, Babi reassured himself. However, Dr. Monrik has repeatedly insisted that in this universe based on statistical theory, nothing is completely impossible. The slightest impossibility is ultimately just unreliability.Babi shrugged impatiently, turned on the shower head, and for a moment, the unreliable laws of emerging physics, and it fundamentally denied the traditional theories, the space and time of matter and the controllability of atomic bomb explosions. This new theoretical system makes Babi feel as disturbing as the cause of Dr. Monrick's death. While taking a shower, Babi unconsciously thought of the doctor's lamp again, what does that terracotta mean? What kind of ethnic traditional message does the image of a she-wolf feeding Roman heroes convey?Babi couldn't understand what it meant. He wearily toweled himself dry, filled himself with a large glass of wine, grabbed a magazine, and got ready for bed.But the unreasonable thoughts made his brain ache.Obviously, there was a reason for Monrik and his team members to be terrified; the press conference at the airport was so tightly deployed, but it failed to achieve the expected effect, what happened? This must mean that the potential threat is much stronger than they expected. That's sure to be harder to deal with than a freaky redhead. If Ai Pulu is really a witch as she said, there must be something else behind her, stronger than her, not as beautiful as her, and no one will dance with her. What about spiritual experiments? To put it mildly, through these experiments, we can actively explore our own potential and continue to develop this scientific means of thinking to control probabilities. If so, they may be organized, constantly making various preparations, waiting for an opportunity to test their strength, expecting the appearance of a leader—the Son of Darkness—to lead them to a major operation, Babi's sleepy eyes closed. On it, my mind is drawing a picture of the coming black savior. He would be a tall, thin, and majestic figure, clad in a terrifying black robe, standing majestically among the ravines. What would happen to the words and deeds of such a leader? Why does Ai Pulu smile all over her face?He didn't dare to vent his anger, squinted his eyes quietly, and looked over the leader's lids covered under the battle robe to see if he could recognize who it was - the white skull was grinning at him. He woke up suddenly, but the cause of the shock was not the nightmare itself, but a desire that he couldn't explain clearly. He felt a dull pain in the back of his head, so he poured himself another large glass of wine to relieve his tension. He turned on the radio, heard a whirlwind of commercial music, and turned it off again. He was suddenly very sleepy—and yet he was afraid of falling asleep. He didn't know the vague fear he felt about his own bed.Once he fell asleep, the vague uneasiness that haunted him could take over him completely. However, the feeling isn't exactly fear.Mixed with the fear was a longing he couldn't describe, to be awakened, to be relieved, to be free from all the things he hated. He also couldn't explain how he felt about Ai Pulu—a feeling that was part of all his confusion. He thought he should feel that Ai Pulu was more terrifying. She was either a witch she said, or a psychopath, whatever it was, she was responsible for Monrik's death, and it was the confusion and fear he felt that haunted Babi, the awakening of Apuru. Something terrible, dangerous, long imprisoned. He tried his best to get Ai Pulu out of his mind.Sure, it was too late to call her now.He wasn't sure if he really wanted to see her, though, there was a vague longing in his heart, and Babi set the alarm clock and went to bed, and the sleepiness made him fall asleep quickly. Ai Pulu was calling him. Her voice became very clear, a silver bell-like voice, far more pleasant than the sound of a car horn or the rumble of a bus, covering the noise of the street, the green sound waves like her eyes, echoing in the night sky Babi thought he could see Ai Pulu through the intricate architectural barriers of the city. Only she is not a woman. Her velvety, urging voice was still human, her long, wide eyes still squinted, her white wolfskin coat was now a part of her, she became — A white she-wolf, cunning, cautious and full of strength. She called to him with a clear female voice, loud in the dark. "Come on, Baby, I need you." Babi could feel him creaking in the small bedroom with peeling walls, the comfortable and moderately hard mattress under him, he could hear the ticking alarm clock, and he could smell the air coming in from the open window not far away. The smell of the mill.Obviously, he was not asleep, and the voice of the call was so real that he couldn't help answering it. "Hey, Ai Pulu," his voice was tired, "I will definitely call you tomorrow. Let's go dancing again." The strange thing is that the she-wolf seemed to hear it. "I need you right now, Baby." Her answer was very clear, "Because there is something we need to do together, something that cannot be delayed. You must come out immediately, come to me, and I will teach you how to change shape." "Deformation?" He repeated vaguely, "I don't want to be transformed." "You'll think about it," she said. "I guess you have that heirloom of mine—the white jade brooch, right?" "Yes, here I am," he whispered. "I found it on the strangled kitten." "Then, hold it in your hand." Babi felt himself half asleep getting up, going to the chest of drawers, groping in the odds and ends box, finding the brooch, and wondering how she knew. Babi took the brooch, went back to the bed, and fell down heavily. "Willie!" her voice came again, "Listen, now I'll tell you what to do. You must transform, as I did. It should be easy for you, Willie. You can be like a wolf Run like a wolf, chase like a wolf, kill like a wolf!" In the dim night, she seemed to be getting closer. "Relax," she urged, "I'll help you, Willie. You're a wolf, and you're shaped like the little wolf on the jade brooch in your hand. Relax your nerves and let your body levitate." -" Babi was in a daze, not understanding how the mind-controlled probability could turn a person into a four-legged wolf. However, his brain seemed too numb and dull for him to think normally. He clenched the brooch and tried to do what Ai Pulu said.He felt a strange, aching heat rush through his body—as if he were twisting himself into a position he hadn't had before, his muscles tugging to adapt to the new weight. In the darkness, pain soothed him. "Don't stop, Willie." Her voice kept urging him through the dark night sky, "If you give up now, if you give up halfway, you will die. You can do it, let me help you. Relax , imitate the appearance of the little wolf and let your body change. Okay, very good—you’re floating—” Suddenly, Babi succeeded. The painful shackles that had accompanied him for many years broke free in an instant. He jumped out of bed lightly and stood on the ground, sniffing the poorly ventilated air in the apartment, the burning smell of whiskey on the chest of drawers, the damp smell of soap in the bathroom, and the smell of dirty clothes in the big basket of dirty clothes. The sweaty smell of the mountains, plus the musty smell. This place is too closed, he needs fresh air. He trotted up to the open window, scratched impatiently at the screen, which was torn, and jumped into Mrs. Sedowski's long neglected flower bed.Shaking himself up, sucking in the smell of fresh soil, he walked across the sidewalk to the street full of the smell of burnt oil and hot rubber. run. Free-free--he was no longer bound by that sluggish, clumsy, numb body, his own shape, which now seemed so strange, even deformed.Four flexible legs are of course much better than two, and the long-term feeling of suffocation is lifted at once. Free, alert and flexible, full of energy! "Here I am, Babi!" the white she-wolf called through the sleeping city, "I'm on the campus—come on!" Babi heard her call and ran towards the campus. At this time, he suddenly had a willful impulse, turned around and ran south, crossed the commercial street, ran past the railway freight yard, and ran straight to the open area. of mountains. He wanted to escape from the chemical smell of the mill, away from the city smell that suffocated him, use his energy, see where the limit of power is, and then meet the cunning she-wolf. He hopped briskly down the sidewalks of the quiet warehouse district, pausing now and then to smell the tantalizing scent of coffee and spices wafting from the wholesale grocery store, as he slipped past a sleepy policeman on the corner , suddenly exposed to street lights, he hurried to the nearest small alley, so as not to let the police who had nothing to do take him to test the gun, this big bad wolf running around must be an ideal prey . Unexpectedly, the policeman just yawned, looked in his direction, threw the remaining cigarette butts to the side of the road, and then patrolled slowly, stopping occasionally to check whether the warehouse door was secure.Babi turned and ran in front of the police.Try your own guesses. The police didn't seem to see him.Bobby wondered why as he ran down the smelly street. He skirted the panting locomotive, ran across the station yard, and headed west along the highway, dodging smoke and cinders from the locomotive. Then he jumped into the deep ditch next to it, the soil under his paws was cool and moist. "Babi! Why don't you come soon?" He heard the she-wolf calling after him, but he didn't want to go with her just yet. A cool wind blows, sweeps away the smell of gasoline on the road, and brings the mixed fragrance of the farm and woods. The cool autumn night wind is so refreshing and pleasant. He enjoys the fragrance of the wet weeds and rotting leaves, and even likes the feeling of the cool dew soaking his paws, away from the deafening roar of the internal combustion engine, he stops from time to time, savoring and admiring the rustling of hamsters in the field , and even caught a small cricket with its front paws. Ai Pulu was calling him again, but he still ignored him. Joy and excitement cheered Babi: he had never felt so refreshed and alive. He threw his head high with joy, and uttered a long, low, quivering howl of pleasure toward the half-moon.In the darkness not far away, a frightened dog barked uneasily. He breathed in the cool air, sniffing out the restlessness of his ancient foe, less obvious but still unpleasant, the hair on his neck and back stood up, and the dog had to learn not to bark at him. The white wolf was calling again, more urgently than before. "Don't waste time with a wild dog. Tonight we have to deal with more dangerous enemies. I will wait for you on campus. I need you, and I need you now." Boss Babi turned his head unhappily and headed north. In the hazy night, the angry barking of dogs was gradually left behind. In a little while he was past Troy Hill, which was the name Preston Troy had given himself for his stately country home on the western outskirts of Clarendon. His luxurious residence sits above river valleys and rolling hills, where the city's power station is located, and his private power station.Bobby watched the lights from the big house, flickering above the treetops.A lantern was swinging in the stable, probably a groom tending to a sick horse. He heard a faint, restless neighing of the horse, and he stopped involuntarily, sniffing the horse's strong scent with pleasure. "Hurry up, Babi!" Ai Pulu begged. He started to run quickly again, running towards the impetuous and noisy direction exuding the atmosphere of the city.He breathed in a fresh and fragrant she-wolf smell, as refreshing as pine branches, and he stopped slowing down, and hurriedly ran towards the direction of the she-wolf. From some corner of the house came a few screams of a dog, but Babi ignored him, the smell of the she-wolf attracted him.The she-wolf sprinted out of the fragrant evergreen bushes on campus to meet him on the wet grass. Her long green eyes sparkled with undisguised delight. He sniffed her fresh and fragrant breath, let her touch his mouth, and gave him a long, cold kiss, "You're too late, Baby!" She jumped away from him. "We've lost much of the night, and we're going to take on the enemy. Let's go!" "Enemy?" He stared at her slender white figure, not doubting.Somewhere to the south that he just passed, a dog was barking hysterically. He howled in that direction and asked in a low voice, "There? You mean a dog?" With a vicious green light in her eyes, she said viciously, "Who's afraid of those nasty dogs!" As she spoke, she waved her front paw contemptuously, "Our enemy is man."
