Chapter 27 Chapter Twenty Six

"Besides, I'll help you with my brain," Simkin said, detaching the head from his shoulders (or rather, screwing it off) and throwing it at a technologist. That person may have a little magical ability, but in my opinion, technologists place too much emphasis on technology and too little on magic.Simkin's mouth fell open in amazement when he took his own head. And when the head still covered by the silver hood flew towards him, he immediately exclaimed and stretched out his arms to cover his face.Simkin's head exploded, the explosion stopped my heart, shook the cavern... a rain of daisies erupted.

"Action!" Mosiah yelled. He rushed forward, life force flowing in his body, the black robe that rolled around him clings to him, turning into needle-like black fur.His head was elongated, with yellow tusks protruding from curled black lips. His legs became animal legs, and his arms were likewise covered in black bristles, with nails extending into claws. The hem of the black robe became a tail with razor-sharp barbs.Mosiah became a dark wanderer, a murderous beast, one of the most fearsome creations of the ancient warlords. The Technician's eyes widened, but they were dizzy from the daisies that kept swirling before their eyes. And the next thing he could see was the dreaded Dark Wanderer standing upright before him, mouth open, claws slashing toward his throat.

Sheila said that the silver robes of technologists can block all kinds of conventional weapons like armor. But the Dark Wanderer is not a conventional weapon.Mosiah threw himself on the Technician, and the silver robe made a sound of shattering. The Dark Wanderer howled in pain. But Mosiah's claws tore the silver robe, and his weight pinned the technologist to the ground. Another Technician was not completely bewildered by Daisy like his companions, and a weapon appeared in his hand, which looked like a scythe, and a terrible energy shone from it.He stood beside Father Saryon and swung the scythe viciously back and forth, the blade cutting through the air with a whistling sound that reminded me of Simkin's out-of-key snort.

Alisa and I had no time to rush over, we could only watch this terrible scene in pain, powerless.Saryon lay on the ground, each swing of the tech-major getting closer to him.Qiao Lang leaned against the wall of the cave behind the technologist. His eyes gleamed, as if the poison inside him was burning his life. But he still staggered and took a step forward, trying to knock down the tech technician from behind. The guard heard his voice.Swinging the scythe back, the hilt struck Joram on the side of the head.Joram fell down beside Father Saryon.Even so, Joram still raised his head stubbornly, and his face was stained red again with blood. But he finally fell to the ground again and didn't move again.

Alisa cried out and ran to her father regardless of the danger.I caught her. "Please let me go, Your Majesty." After Sheila finished speaking, she rushed towards the tech man wielding a sickle with empty hands. "Watch out, Sheila!" roared the Dark Wanderer in Mosiah's voice. Blood and saliva flowed from the mouth of the murderous beast, and the blood also stained its claws and black fur.I glanced at its opponent, and immediately regretted doing so, and hurriedly looked away from the crippled body of the technologist. It was all flesh and daisies. "That sickle can absorb the life force of living things." Mosiah reminded Sheila.

"I don't know why you think it can scare me," Sheila said, blinking, and giving Mosiah a smile. She approached the tech technician, observed his movements, and suddenly raised her leg to kick the scythe's trajectory.Alisa closed her eyes.I watched in horror, thinking Sheila's leg would be severed by that sharp scythe. The blade hit Sheila's combat boots with a loud bang, and scattered in a thousand pieces, as if it were as fragile as ice.I couldn't see the expression on the Technician's face under the silver hood, but I could tell he was staring at his weapon in bewilderment. But he quickly recovered from his shock and poked the handle of the sickle at Sheila like a club.

At this moment, Sheila's boot heel was firmly kicking on his nose under the silver hood.I heard a chilling crack, and at first I thought it was the silver armor at work. But seeing blood gushing from under the silver hood convinced me that his nose had been kicked off.Technician fell backwards to the ground, and Sheila kicked him in the head again, ending his life. "What's wrong?" a voice called from outside the cave. "Is everything all right?" "There are still people," Mosiah still maintained the form of a dark wanderer, with a pair of red eyes flashing a fierce light. "It must be the people guarding the teleporter. They will be here soon. They have floating boats! Go!" He waved his blood-red claws at us, urging us. "Take Father Saryon and Joram away! I'll deal with them."

Saryon was already on his knees, bending over the unconscious Joram.Alisa also ran to her father and took his hand.I don't know how to take Joram away, he's a very tall and heavy man. "I will not leave Joram," Saryon said firmly. "Me neither," Alisa said, tears rolling down her face.I don't believe she knew she was crying. "Smither has the antidote." Saryon turned his gaze to Alisa, "Do you know where the Dark Sword is?" "Yes, Father." "Then we must find it and give it to Smither. That's the only way to save your father's life."

"Smither may not keep his word," Sheila said cautiously. "Perhaps he will," said Saryon sadly. "He must." "We have to get him out of this place," Sheila said urgently. "We can't leave him here and let them find him. Once they find him, they will definitely abuse him even more." Sheila touched Joram's forehead. Her dexterous fingers gently slid across the broken skin, wiping away the dirty blood on it. Joram opened his eyes and blinked, as if looking at a blindingly bright light. "The guard didn't answer, something must have happened," a voice came from outside the cave, "I'll go and have a look."

"Go!" Mosiah roared in a low voice. After speaking, he lurked to the edge of the cave. "I can walk," said Joram, pushing away the hands that tried to lift him up. "I don't need help." But when he tried to stand up, he fell limp, but Sheila's strong arms supported him. "Reuven," Sheila said, "hold him from the other side." Hearing Sheila's order, I hurried to the other side of Joran, and put my hand on Joran's waist.Joram glared at Sheila and me.For a moment, I thought he was going to hit us. "If you won't let us help you, sir," Sheila said quietly, "you won't be able to walk ten steps. If you can't move, your daughter will be with you, and so will Father Saryon. Technologist Will catch them and take away everything you've tried so hard to protect. Do you want that?"

Joram's resolute expression relaxed. He shook his head. "No. I'll take your help." He glanced at me. "And Reuven's." "Alisa, you lead the way." Sheila said, "Go quickly." "Wait!" Alisa turned to Father Saryon. "Where's my mother? Is she in the cell too?" "She's not here, child," Saryon said with concern. "She's not with us. I thought maybe you knew..." Alisa shook her head. "She's not here," Saryon said. "This is one of our hopes. If the technologists do capture her, they will definitely use her. I think she escaped safely." "Then where is she?" Alisa asked. "Maybe I have some clues," Saryon said. "Don't worry, I believe she is safe now, safer than us." Alisa tenderly kissed her father's blood-stained cheek, then took Saryon's hand, and led the way down the spiral tunnel.Sheila and I hurried behind, half dragging Joram.Only Joram groaned in pain as we started walking, and then he kept gritting his teeth against his pain. Behind us, I heard a wild howl mixed with panicked screams. As we entered the tunnel, it occurred to me, what happened to Simkin? I looked back and there was a teddy bear lying on top of a pile of silver robes, its head and two arms missing. The orange silk scarf that was originally wrapped around the bear's neck and tied into a gorgeous bow now just hangs on the bear's body. I hurried forward, secretly glad that Alyssa was only paying attention to my father and saw nothing else.
"This is so strange," Saryon said as we walked down the tunnel for about a mile. "This place feels familiar to me. Even though I know I've never been here." "Maybe not in this life, Father," Sheila said, "but who knows where you'll hang out in other lives?" Saryon glanced back at her and smiled weakly. He must have thought that Sheila was joking, but out of politeness he had to make some gestures that he was amused, but in his heart he felt that it would be frivolous to be joking at this time.Alisa kept using Sheila's flashlight to find her way ahead, not paying attention to the conversation behind her.Joram was just battling his pain with all his might and wasn't paying attention to their conversation. I was the only one who realized that there might be something else in Sheila's words.I glanced at her across Joram and saw she was looking at me too, a small smile on her lips.I couldn't ask her questions—I had to support Joram with both hands. I never really thought about what the truth was.I don't know if I can deduce what's really going on, but I've found a few pieces.I hope that Mosiah can understand the meaning of what Sheila said just now when he is here. But for all I know, Mosiah is probably dead.I haven't heard from him since I left. And the only sign that allows us to speculate that he has completed the task is that no technologist has caught up so far. Let's move on.Joram's body was getting heavier and heavier.Sheila was carrying most of his weight, but the weight on me was already making my shoulder muscles sore.I couldn't help feeling ashamed to think of Joram's suffering in silence, without complaining. So I resolutely drove out my worries about myself and walked forward vigorously. Saryon stopped suddenly. "I don't like this," he said. "There's a creature living down there. Can't you smell it? A dragon." His brows furrowed. "A night dragon." "There used to be creatures living here, Father," Alisa said, shining a flashlight on the smooth tunnel. "I don't know what it was, but it's gone now. When the magic died, it must have died too. Why do you think it's a dragon?" "I don't know." Saryon replied suspiciously. "It just popped into my head, that's all." Saryon was a wise man who had spent most of his life in the wizarding world of Simharlan. He looked at Sheila with a confused and disturbed expression. Now he was starting to take Sheila's jokes seriously. "Maybe we should wait here for Mosiah and make sure what happened to him before going down. Are you sure we have to go deeper into this bad place?" "Yes, Father," said Alisa. "I'm sorry, but we must go on. The Dark Sword is down there." Hearing this, Joram raised his head. His pale face was scary, and the blood had formed thick scabs on his face.He had already fallen into a coma before, with his eyes closed and his feet dragging on the ground. If I hadn't felt his pulse beating in his arm, maybe I would have thought he was dead.Only when his daughter uttered the word "dark sword" did he wake up with a start. "Where is this?" gasped Joram, his voice no louder than his breathing. "Is it safe here?" "Yes, Papa," Alisa replied. Her father's pain made her almost speechless. "It's safe here. Oh Dad, I'm so sorry! I was wrong..." Joram shook his head. "I was the one who made the mistake." After he said this, he tilted his head to one side, collapsed into our arms, and closed his eyes again. "Whatever happens, I must rest!" I gestured hastily, lest I should cause Joram to fall. Sheila nodded, and slowly put Joram on the ground. Aching warmth rushes over my numb shoulders.I bit my lip to keep myself from shouting. "Is he all right?" Alisa asked worriedly. She leaned over to her father and gently pushed back the curly black hair that fell over his face.Joram's hair was nearly identical to his daughter's, except for some gray hairs on the forehead. "He looks so weak." "We don't have much time," Sheila admitted, "neither for Joram, nor for us, nor for those who put their hopes in us." "I'm confused," I sign. "I don't know what time it is—not at all! How long do we have?" "Until this midnight," Sheila said, looking at the green fluorescent watch on her wrist. "The last ship will leave the outpost then?" Saryon asked. Sheila gave him a strange look. "The last ship has left," she replied coldly. "Conifer will arrive at midnight." "What?" Fear and panic left me gesticulating frantically. "How are we going to bring the Dark Sword back to Earth? What else can we do now? Why do we keep doing these stupid things? We're going to die anyway!" Just as Sheila was about to answer, the sound of hurried footsteps came along the corridor. We immediately shut up.Sheila stood between us and the voice. "Turn off the flashlight!" she whispered. Alisa switched off the flashlight. We huddled together in the dark, our fears hovering around us as if a living thing. At this moment, I heard a voice, a soft voice, that was Saryon praying to Emin. His hand took mine, strong and warm, comforting, comforting, reminding me of a being larger than ourselves guiding, watching over, and protecting us.While the end result may be dire, we are not alone.I also started praying, asking forgiveness for my weak faith and strength. A figure staggered out of the darkness and almost rushed into Sheila's arms. "Why..." came a voice. "Mosiah!" Sheila finally breathed a sigh of relief. Alisa turned on the flashlight. Mosiah glared at us. "What the hell are you doing here?" he asked angrily. "Picnic? Why—" He saw Joram unconscious on the ground. "Oh," Mosiah shook his head, and turned his gaze back to Sheila. "Is he dead?" "No, but it's not very good." Sheila glanced at Alisha cautiously. "We can't stay here. I dealt with the Technicians, but there are more coming from the teleporter at any moment. I haven't been able to stop them from sounding the alarm. We must get the Dark Sword back and get out of here quickly! You and I will carry Joram." "You look like you can't hold on to yourself anymore," Sheila said to Mosiah as they bowed together to Joram, "Do you still have life?" "Not much more." Mosiah snorted because of the force. He returns to human form. The change must have drained his strength, and he looked exhausted. "Maybe I can give you life force again," I said. The weakness just now made me feel guilty as hell. Saryon looked at me in astonishment. "You gave Mosiah life force, Reuven? How? When?" "It would be a waste of time to explain that, Father," said Mosiah. He and Sheila supported Joram and moved deeper into the tunnel. He rejected my proposal, saying that I should keep my strength, we still have a lot to do. Conifer will attack Simharon at midnight.Smither and his techies will be desperate to find the Dark Sword.Where do we go so that they don't find us?Also, how do we fight Conifer's army with a single sword? No matter how powerful that sword is.And, in more mundane terms, just now the word "picnic" reminds me that we haven't eaten all this time.We also carry very little water. We are all thirsty and hungry and don't know when we will find food and water again.Joram is near death.I couldn't help thinking that maybe he was the luckiest of us. Of course, I should have faith, as Saryon exhorted me in silence. But when all logic and reality are so unfavorable, it is difficult for me to maintain my sincere trust in Emin. Just as I was trying to keep the faint flame of hope burning, I heard a voice that snuffed out the last spark in me. I heard that voice once in this tunnel, in another life, a life that ended in terrible disaster. The sound of loud breathing "rumbling" came from not far below.
