Before telling this story, let's talk about fate. What?Don't you mean fate? "Fate" is the title of this story, it can be said to be fate, and all kinds of things related to fate; or not. What kind of story is it telling? It's still the same old saying: read on, and you will know naturally. Anyway, let's talk about fate first. In the world, in the universe, although there are too many wonderful things to win, they are never more wonderful than fate. Does fate exist? It seems to be illusory and elusive.Does fate not exist? But it seems that all the people in the world are subject to fate.

(Not only human beings are controlled by fate, but all creatures, living beings, also have "fate". Even non-living substances also have their destiny. Every creature or substance has its destiny.) Everyone is most concerned about their own destiny, especially want to answer a question: what will happen to me in the future? In other words, people are most concerned about their own future destiny. What will happen in the future? In the course of life, what happens? Is it possible to know in advance the future events in one's own life course through some method? This is the first-level question group, and the answers to this series of questions are also difficult to determine.

If not, there are countless methods handed down from ancient to modern times, both at home and abroad, to predict a person's future destiny. In ancient China alone, there are so many methods that emerge in endlessly, including physiognomy (face, palm, body, bone, etc.) , There is Pai Bazi (calculate the future based on a person's birth time), and there are various calculation methods, divination and seeking signs, and various small methods are transformed from the big methods. I really want to count, Ziping, Ziwei, Meihuashen Count... At least one hundred kinds can be counted. There are ways, that's for sure. Some methods are very complicated, requiring not only profound knowledge, but also inspiration and talent in metaphysics. Some methods are very secret, and those who are not familiar with the art cannot even get a glimpse of their methods.

But here comes the question again, is the future fate calculated based on all these methods accurate? So that's it? Thus, the problem group entered the second level. What's in the future is what hasn't happened yet. A thing, no matter how simple, is superficial. In fact, no matter how simple a thing is, it is extremely complicated, and it is related to thousands of factors. The combination of thousands of factors produces an extremely simple thing. To give an example: walk into a fast food restaurant, buy a hamburger, and eat the hamburger, how common and simple it is!I don't know how many people are doing it every day, and few people think about how complicated it is from such a simple thing.

Hamburgers are made from flour. Who made the flour?Under what conditions is the wheat sown? What about the source of the beef?Onions naturally come from farmland, but if there is exactly one pest that eats that onion, it will naturally be thrown away. Of course, you can still eat a hamburger, but it is not the same one anymore. There is a slight difference. Small differences mean change, and that must be acknowledged. That is to say, when this hamburger comes to your mouth, it is formed by the combination of hundreds of millions of factors. As long as one of the factors is different, the whole thing will be different. Although the difference between the same and the different may be very small, the difference is different!

To give another example, a few years ago, in the mid-levels of Hong Kong, on a stormy night, landslides completely destroyed a 12-storey building with amazing destructive power, causing huge disasters , Many people were tragically buried in the collapsed buildings and the landslides, and lost their lives. Those who died unfortunately had a very bad fate. But there are also those who were lucky enough to escape the catastrophe. It seems that those who escaped the catastrophe should not have escaped, but those who died unfortunately should actually be able to escape. These two short stories can interest those who care about their own future destiny. After reading them, they can also think about them carefully.

The first one encountered difficulties: a young man asked his girlfriend to go out, but because of the heavy wind and rain, he temporarily canceled the date and stayed at home.As a result, the building collapsed and suffered misfortune. Before he declined the appointment, he must have thought about whether to go out or not to go out at that time, the decision was based on a single thought, and a single thought determined his life's fate. The factor is not on him alone. If his girlfriend persists, it can influence his decision. Then, his future fate is another matter. Storms are unpredictable, and there are so many factors that form a storm, natural factors, plus human factors, the combination of various factors: it is just such a coincidence.

The protagonist of the second story is a lucky young woman. The young woman was pregnant at the time, and on a stormy night, she suddenly remembered to eat some kind of food (it is said to be a kind of bread), so she drove away from home to buy this kind of bread. When she braved the wind and rain, bought bread, and drove back, the whole building had disappeared. Although she was shocked, she also escaped the bad luck of being crushed to death. She decided whether to brave the wind and rain to buy bread, she must have thought about it, and the decision to go or not was just a matter of one thought, but it was just this thought that determined her life and future destiny.

Perhaps there is an old saying that can be applied: "Life should not die".This is a way of acknowledging the existence of fate, and it sounds quite mysterious: those who should not die will naturally decide to go out in a single thought, and those who should die will stay. But why? There is no answer, there is, and it is still an old saying: destiny. This kind of predestined statement ignores the existence of many factors, and it is an oversimplified statement.Like that young woman, she suddenly remembered to eat a certain food, naturally because she was pregnant, which is one of the characteristics of a pregnant woman's life.If she hadn't been pregnant?Naturally everything has changed, and even for men and women with normal physiology, pregnancy is an extremely complicated process. If she happens to be pregnant, her fate will be different. If she is not pregnant, it will naturally be different.

The so-called antecedents and effects, there are thousands of antecedents, just like that, there is that kind of result, a slight change in the antecedent, the result will be different. Therefore, in theory, no matter which method is used to calculate the future destiny, all the antecedents must be calculated correctly, so as to achieve the only correct result. Since the antecedents involve such a wide range, is it possible to understand them one by one? What's more, the formation of each antecedent, there are hundreds of millions of factors that form this antecedent. If it is involved, if it is expressed in numerical values, it is simply infinite, and it is really impossible to calculate - then it cannot be established theoretically. The possibilities can be calculated!

Well, even if there is some way, it is really possible to include everything and calculate the future; or, as I described in , everything that is going on on the earth is just a kind of "mirror reflection", which has already happened in other places far away What happened in the past can naturally also be used to know what will happen in the future through the records of what happened in the past. Well, even if the future fate can really be calculated, so what?Next, naturally entered the third level of the problem. That is: Knowing the future destiny, can it be changed? If you can't change it, so what if you know it? Using the above two examples again, if the young man had passed a certain method, he would have known that he would be crushed to death in the collapsed building, so he would not stay at home that night, and no one would know To be crushed to death and still stay there waiting to die. So, he will leave. Therefore, when the building collapses, he will not be crushed to death. The upshot: he didn't die in that disaster. Then, the calculation was inaccurate, because the calculation calculated that he was going to die in that disaster. This is a very interesting logical problem: if the calculated result can be changed, then the calculated result is by no means accurate, not only inaccurate, but in most cases, it will be completely opposite. And if the calculated result is accurate, it will not be changed and cannot be changed. However, that is the most painful torment for a person who already knows his future destiny. In this story, there is a vivid description of the pain of a person with the ability to predict: "Life is like reading an old newspaper that has been turned over and over again, and it is extremely boring!" Since, there are only two possibilities for predicting the future fate: (1) Inaccurate! (2) Accurate, but painfully inexplicable. So, why are there still so many people, almost everyone, so anxious to know their future. The future will come after all, and anyone who walks through their own life can clearly know what happened. But all, ancient and modern, are anxious to know in advance. Regarding whether the future destiny of man is known or not, the general situation is as above. The stories I describe rarely have such long prefaces. This preface, which is thousands of words long, is a conversation I had with some college students: young people who have received advanced modern education are interested in metaphysics and want to hear my opinion, so this conversation happened. There were even more examples given at that time, but now I am omitting them because of the haste to describe this story. At the end of that conversation, a young man asked: "So, Mr. Wesley, what is your conclusion?" My answer, may not satisfy the questioner, but that is the only answer I have. My answer is: "I have no conclusion. My opinion has been simply expressed, and you cannot draw any conclusions from my opinion." The young man said again: "Then—" I interrupted him: "Yes, then, what is fate and what is fate, I have no conclusion." A few days after the conversation ended, the story that I now call the chronicle began to take place. The following is the real beginning.
