Chapter 23 postscript

life and death balance 王晋康 960Words 2018-03-14
Occasionally, I saw a medical book signed and presented by Mr. Wang Yousan from my friend Dong Zhenhua: "Where is the medicine of tomorrow--My concept of balanced medicine", and I was able to make friends with this madman in the medical field. After reading this book, I have a great feeling of resentment. It just expresses some of my own thoughts in a hazy state.Frankly speaking, "balanced medicine" as a medical system is still very immature, it is just some rough-lined discourse. But the flashes of wisdom, those incisive and original insights are extremely valuable, and I believe it symbolizes the dawn of new medicine.

The nearly 10,000-year history of human civilization has created splendid modern medicine (mainly Western medicine). However, if we take a bird's-eye view from the perspective of an old man in history, I am afraid that Western medicine has entered the end of its glory. It focuses too much on the specific and neglects the whole. It basically bypasses the body's immune organs to fight pathogens directly. As a result, pathogens become increasingly ferocious during super-intensive training, and the human immune system becomes weaker and weaker while doing nothing. This is an extremely dangerous game.

From the beginning of life to the present 4 billion years, human beings have been evolving in an alien environment.Primitives (humans) have no medicine and have been passed down for hundreds of millions of years. It is because of the immune system and group advantages of human beings that have been refined for hundreds of years, they always have the upper hand in the fight against pathogens. It's a pity that the medical community has been dazzled by the brilliant medical progress and has forgotten this simplest fact.In this sense, how naive and short-sighted the medical profession declared the global eradication of smallpox in 1979, and today's efforts to eradicate polio. Can humans live in a pathogen-free world, no matter how advanced technology is?Elimination of a virus is just to make way for a new virus; a short period of peace is a preparation for a greater disaster.

So write this thrilling science fiction novel to alert the world. Some contents of Mr. Wang's works are quoted in the article, but I want to explain that this article is a novel rather than a medical monograph. It only focuses on the correctness of the trend of thought, and does not stick to the accuracy of medical details. Some of these insights are my own.For example, I believe that the purpose of medicine should not be to treat every patient, but to try to establish a balance of life and death that is beneficial to mankind. In other words, a certain rate of death from disease (at least the loss of reproductive rights) should be allowed to ensure the healthy progress of human natural selection and evolution. If this kind of heresy, which violates humanism, is proved to be wrong in a few hundred years, I don't want to let Mr. Wang take the blame; if it proves to be right, I don't want to give up the honor to Mr. Wang.

As for the wild and frivolous Huang Fulin who finally married a pockmarked beauty from Kuwait, he is a purely fictional character. The Xiehe Hospital was used as the target in the article, just wanting to find the greatest authority to try the blade. In order not to cause trouble to Mr. Wang, I have not had a single word of contact with him from the beginning to the end.The above three statements are pure nonsense, but in view of the special customs of our country, we have to do so.Disclaimer. When writing this book, I received help from Nanyang Library, Nanyang Normal College Library, and attending physician Wang Hewei from Nanyang Central Hospital.
