Chapter 23 Information No. 12

Humanoid 王晋康 278Words 2018-03-14
Scientists have developed the first robot that can evolve and replicate automatically without human intervention, a key step towards artificial intelligence. Researchers at Brandeis University in Massachusetts designed a computer simulation process to enable 200 robots to evolve according to Darwin's evolution method. They will automatically remove useless or bulky parts of their bodies. The three most suitable designs are then sprayed out with layers of thermoplastic by a 3D printing head, which solidifies into the new 3D robot. The only thing humans have to do in the whole process is to install a small electric motor for the robot.

In another paper in the journal Nature, researchers at the University of Lausanne in Switzerland say they have taught robots to work as a team, making them behave like a society of ants, walking to avoid collisions and notifying everyone when they find food.
