In December 1997, Huntinggan Willard of Rezev University School of Medicine in Maryland, USA completed an unprecedented work: artificially assembled a chromosome.
Biological chromosomes have three main components:
1.The two ends are telomeres, just like the hoops at the ends of shoelaces. Its function is to ensure that normal chromosomes do not fuse with each other;
2.The middle is a short sequence of repeated DNA replication;
3.. is the so-called "replication origin" DNA sequence that initiates the replication of chromosomes during cell division.
