Chapter 20 Chapter 20 Teresa's Kiss

Thomas couldn't help it, his first instinct was to hope it was her, and he called out for her.He hoped that she was waiting for him a few hundred feet away after all the hardships. Teresa? No one responded. Teresa?Teresa? Still no response. He still had the scar from Teresa's disappearance in his heart, like an empty pond.But... that person could be Teresa.Maybe there is something wrong with their ability to communicate. The girl had come out from the back of the building, or more likely from the inside, and was standing there.Although the girl stood in the shadows and couldn't see her face at all, it was obvious from the way she stood that she was facing them, arms folded, staring at them.

"You think that's Teresa?" Newt asked, as if he could read Thomas's mind. Thomas nodded, knowing what he was doing. He looked around quickly to see if anyone was paying attention to them. There seems to be no one. Finally he said, "No clue." "You think it was her screaming?" Frypan asked. "The screaming stopped when she came out." Minho muttered, "It's more likely that she was torturing someone. She killed her when she saw our group of uninvited guests." Then, for some reason, Minho clapped his hands, "Okay then, who wants to To meet this young and pretty lady?"

Thomas was really puzzled that Minho could be so relaxed at such a moment. "I'll go," Thomas said very loudly. He wanted that girl to be Teresa, but he didn't want to make it too obvious. "I'm just kidding, fool," Minho said, "Let's go together, there might be a whole bunch of psycho ninjas in her little house." "Psycho ninja?" Newt repeated.Even if Minho's attitude didn't make Newt angry, it still somewhat surprised him. "Okay, let's go." Minho started to walk forward. Thomas acted instinctively, yet unexpectedly. He said, "No!" He lowered his voice, "No, you stay here, I'll go and talk to her. Maybe it's a trap or something. We'd all be fools if we all fell into the trap. gone."

"Aren't you stupid to go by yourself?" Minho asked. "But we can't just go ahead without checking. I'll go. If something happens, or anything suspicious, I'll call for help." Minho remained silent for a long time. "Okay, let's go, our brave little guy." Minho opened his palm and patted Thomas's back hard, causing Thomas a little pain. "That's stupid!" Newt interjected, taking a step forward. "I'll go with him." "No!" Thomas yelled, "Just... just let me go. My sixth sense tells me that we have to be careful. If I cry like a baby, you come and save me." Before anyone else asked Objecting, Thomas walked quickly towards the girl and the small building.

Thomas quickly approached the goal, walking on sand, mud and rocks, the soles of his shoes creaked, disrupting the silence around him. Thomas smelled the desert, and something burning in the distance. When he stared at the silhouette of the girl beside the small building, he suddenly became very sure.Maybe it's the shape of the girl's head and figure, maybe it's the way she stands -- her arms folded to one side, her hips cocked to the other.Whatever the reason, Thomas understood. is her. It's Teresa. Thomas approached Teresa, just a few feet away, and immediately could see her face clearly in the dim light. But then she turned away, walked through an open door, and disappeared into the small building. The small building was rectangular, with a longitudinal roof slightly sloping in the middle, and Thomas noticed that the small building had no windows.A large black cube hangs from the corner, possibly a speaker.Maybe the sounds they heard were played through the speakers to create an illusion, which would explain why they could hear the sound from so far away.

The door was just a big plank of wood that just stood open against the wall.It was darker inside the door than outside. Thomas moved forward, he walked through the door, even realizing how reckless and stupid it was, but the girl was Teresa. No matter what happened, no matter how she explained her disappearance, her refusal to communicate with him through thoughts, Thomas knew Teresa would not hurt him, never. The air inside was noticeably cooler than outside, and still very humid. It feels good.Thomas took three steps inside, stopped in the dark, and listened, he could hear her breathing. "Teresa?" Thomas asked aloud, trying to push away the temptation to call out to her in his mind, "Teresa, what happened?"

She didn't answer, but Thomas heard her take a short breath, then a hesitant breath, as if crying but trying to hold it back. "Teresa, please! I don't know what happened, or what they did to you, but here I am. It's weird, tell me—" Thomas's words stopped abruptly as he saw a light appear, it danced rapidly, and then turned into a small ball of flame.Naturally, he looked in the direction of the flames, and saw a hand holding a match. He watched the match fall slowly, and then lit a candle on a small table. After the candle was lit, the hand waved and the match went out. Finally Thomas looked up and saw her.He understood that he had been right all along.Seeing Teresa alive, Thomas couldn't contain the joy in his heart, but this joy was quickly replaced by doubt and pain.

Teresa was clean from head to toe, and Thomas had expected her to be as dirty as he had walked through the desert, to be ragged, to have greasy hair, and to have a tanned, smudged face.Instead, Teresa was neatly dressed, her hair fell neatly to her shoulders, and the pale skin on her face and arms was undamaged. She was more beautiful now than when he had seen her in the labyrinth, more beautiful than he had ever remembered since his traumatic transformation. But Teresa had tears in her eyes, her lips quivered with fear, her hands trembled beside her.Thomas knew she recognized him, knew she hadn't forgotten him, but there was fear beyond that.

"Theresa," he said softly, confused, "what happened?" She didn't answer, but her eyes wandered to one side, then back to Thomas.A few tears fell down her cheeks, and finally fell to the ground. Her lips trembled even more, her chest heaved with choked sobs.Thomas took a few steps forward and held out his hands to her. "No!" she screamed, "Get away from me!" Thomas stopped, as if something huge had slammed into his heart. He held up his hands and said, "Okay, okay, Teresa...then..." He didn't know what to say, what to ask, what to do.

He felt more and more that something in his body was breaking, and this sense of rupture spread to his throat, and he felt like he was about to suffocate. Tomas stood still, frightened and agitated Teresa again. He could only look at her, trying to communicate what he felt with his eyes, begging her to tell him something, anything. The silence lasted for a long time, Teresa's body trembled, as if struggling to get rid of something invisible, which reminded Thomas of something... Thomas remembered how weird Gary had been in that room with the woman in the white shirt when they had just escaped from the Glade. That scene happened right before everything went crazy, before he killed Chuck.

Thomas had to say something, or he'd break down. "Teresa, after they took you away, I miss you every second, you..." Tereza didn't let him go on, she took two big strides, rushed to Thomas, grabbed him by the shoulders and threw herself into his arms.Thomas was shocked. He wrapped his arms around her so tightly that he suddenly worried that he was holding her so tightly that Teresa couldn't breathe.Teresa put her hands on the back of Thomas' head, then cupped his cheek, and made him look at her. And then they kissed each other, and it was as if something exploded in Thomas's chest, driving away all the insecurities, doubts and fears, and the pain that had been in his heart a few seconds earlier. For a moment, it seemed that nothing mattered, never mattered. But Teresa moved her lips away, and she staggered back until she hit the wall. There was a look of fear on her face, as if being controlled by the disaster headquarters, she urged in a low voice: "Tom, leave me! You all go! Don't argue with me. Go! Run!" Her neck tensed, trying to get the last few words out. Thomas had never felt so much pain, but what he did next shocked him. He understood her now, remembered her, and he knew she wasn't lying—something was wrong here, very wrong—worse than he had imagined before. To stay here arguing with her, to try to force her to go with him, was to completely betray Teresa, who had escaped her present predicament with what amazing perseverance to warn him! "Teresa," he said, "I'll find you again." With tears in his eyes, he turned and ran out of the building.
