Chapter 70 Chapter 70: Fighting Grim Beasts Again

"Listen to me!" Teresa screamed. She grabbed him by the shoulders, turned him around, and looked into his face, "On the Griever's tail," she said, pointing to the nearest chrysalis, "the Creator said it was the barrel—in its fat There's a switch in there, like a handle. You have to get your hand under the skin and pull the handle out. If you can, the thing will die." Thomas nodded. "Okay, you take everyone to move on." The upper end of the animal pupa continued to open, and Thomas rushed towards the nearest animal pupa. When he came to the front, the lid was almost half open, and he tiptoed to look inside. The Griever's massive, slug-like body trembled and squirmed, sucking water and nourishment from the tubes that connected its body.

Thomas ran to the far end, climbed onto the cover of the chrysalis, leaned as hard as he could to the inside of the Griever, thrust his hand into the wet skin, and found the handle that Teresa had drawn. With a low snort, he pulled out vigorously, finally found a hard handle, and then pulled with all his strength. The ghost fire beast was scattered all over, and fell limply at the bottom of the pupa like a pile of jelly. He threw his hand to the ground and rushed towards the next pupa whose cover had slipped to the ground. He climbed up in seconds, flipped inside, reached into the fatty flesh, and grabbed the handle.

As Thomas ran to the next chrysalis, he looked at Theresa frantically. She was still helping people who had slid down the steep slope to the door. They moved quickly and came down one by one.Sonia arrived, followed by Frypan, then Gary, Minho sprinted over while watching.Thomas came to the chrysalis, the lid was now fully open, and the tubes connecting the Griever and the chrysalis came off one by one.He rolled over again, thrust his hand into the thing's skin, and pulled out the handle. Thomas jumped to the ground, turned and rushed towards the fourth pupa, but the Griever had already started to move, the front end had slipped over the edge of the open pupa, appendages protruding from the skin to help it squirm.Thomas had just come up to it, and he jumped over it, flipping over the side wall of the chrysalis. He reached under the fatty skin and grabbed the handle.A scissors-like blade swept across his head.He dodged it with his head down, and pulled his hand out of the monster's body, and it died, its huge body being pulled back into the coffin-like container.

Thomas knew it was too late to stop the last Griever, which had crawled out of its chrysalis. He turned around and considered the situation for a moment. He saw its whole body slap and slide to the ground, and the small viewer grooves protruding from its forehead like eyes began to look around. Then, as he had seen so many times before, the monster curled up into a ball, and spikes emerged from its skin.Accompanied by the huge swishing sound of various machines in its belly, the monster spun forward. Its spikes tore through the floor, and concrete was thrown into the air.Thomas watched helplessly as it charged into the crowd that had just slid down the steep slope. The sharp blade thrust forward and cut those people open. Unfortunately, they didn't have time to figure out what was going on!

Thomas looked around for something to use as a weapon, and snapped an arm's length iron pipe from somewhere in the ceiling, ran to it, and picked it up.When he turned to face the Griever, he saw that Minho was already charging, kicking the monster desperately and violently in terrifying fashion. Shouting for people to get out of the way, Thomas charged straight at the monster. The Griever turned around to face him as if it had heard an order, sat down on its ball-shaped tail, and straightened its body. Two appendages appeared on both sides of the monster, and Thomas slammed on the brakes. The two attachments were two brand new metal arms, one holding a spinning saw that sizzled, and the other was an ugly iron clip with sharp blades on all four points.

"Minho, let me lure it away!" he yelled, "Take everyone out of here and let Brenda lead them to the maintenance room!" But as he spoke, he saw a man trying to crawl away from the Griever. But before he could climb a few steps, the monster shot out an iron rod and pierced the man through the chest, and he fell to the ground spurting blood. Thomas rushed over, raised the iron pipe, and hit it all the way, through the strange arms, and went straight to the handle.Just as he was about to reach it, Teresa suddenly flashed from the right and jumped on top of the Griever. It immediately curled up into a ball, all its metal arms retracted, pressing her under the skin.

"Theresa!" Thomas yelled, stopping there, not knowing what to do. She turned around, looked at him and said, "Go! Take them away!" She began kicking and clawing, sinking her hands into the monster's fat body.So far, she appears to have been unharmed. Thomas moved closer step by step, clutching the iron pipe tightly, trying to find a place where he could attack without hitting her. Teresa saw him again. "Go away..." But her words fell away, and the Griever sucked her face into its thick skin, pulling her in bit by bit, and she couldn't breathe. Thomas stood there dumbstruck, too many people died!Too much!He didn't want to just stand there and watch her sacrifice her life for herself and others, he couldn't let that happen!

He roared, ran over with all his strength, jumped up, and flew towards the ghost fire beast. The whirling saw hit his chest, and he dodged to the left while swinging the iron pipe. The iron pipe hit hard, and the saw was broken and flew into the air.Thomas heard it hit the ground with a clang. He turned around with his strength, and inserted the iron pipe into the monster's body right next to Teresa's head. Then he yanked it out and in again, again and again. Another iron arm caught him, lifted him up, and flung him out.He hit the hard concrete floor hard, rolled over and jumped up again.Teresa had stretched the monster's body a little, put her knees there, and slammed the Griever's iron arm.Thomas attacked again, jumping up and grabbing its fat.He smashed it with the iron pipe, and Teresa struggled desperately underneath. The monster lurched sideways and spun, throwing her a good ten feet before dropping to the ground.

Thomas grabbed one of the iron arms, kicking it away as the claw came across. Then he dug his feet firmly into the fat and stretched back on his stomach and sideways. He dug his hand into the fat and began to fumble for the handle.Something scratched his back, causing severe pain all over his body. But he dug on, searching for the handle. The more he pushed in, the more he felt that the monster's flesh was like thick mud. Finally, his fingers found a hard piece of plastic. He stretched his hand inward again, grabbed the handle, pulled it with all his strength, and then jumped away from the ghost fire beast in a whirl. He looked up to see Teresa had just slapped away a pair of knife blades inches from her face. The monster's mechanical guts crackled loudly, and then it died. The room was suddenly dead silent. The monster collapsed to the ground, becoming a pile of fat white meat and some devices, and its protruding iron arms were scattered on the ground, limp and weak.

Teresa rested her head on the floor, took a few deep breaths, then crawled beside him and pushed him up so that he lay there on his back.He saw the pain on her face, scarred, flushed and beaded with sweat. However, she smiled. "Thank you, Tom," she said. "You're welcome!" The feeling of relief after the battle was so good, it seemed unreal. She pulls him up. "Let's get out of here." Thomas realized that no one had slid down the steep slope, and Minho had just led the last few people out of the double gate. Then Minho turned around, facing Thomas and Teresa.

Minho bent down, put his hands on his knees, panting continuously. "It's all over," he groaned, standing up, "at least for those who survived. I think I understand why they let us in so easily: they wanted to use those stinky will-o'-the-wisps The beast cut us to pieces! Anyway, you have to get ahead and help Brenda lead the way." "So is she all right?" Thomas asked, feeling a huge weight lifted. "Yes, she's already there." Thomas struggled to stand up, and before taking two steps, he stopped again.A low rumbling sound came from all directions. The whole room trembled for a few seconds, then fell still. "We have to move fast!" he said, and leaped to his feet, catching up with the others.
