Chapter 66 Chapter Sixty-Six: An Unknown Attempt

Thomas understood everything in that moment, and he didn't understand Vince's fanaticism until now.The way the Righteous Forces treated them after taking them hostage in the Berg was also not quite right. Also, why are they using these explosives instead of conventional weapons?Unless their goal is destruction, not takeover, there's no explanation. It turned out that the righteous army thought differently from him. Maybe they thought their motives were pure, but Thomas began to realize that this organization had hidden intentions. He has to tread carefully, the key now is to rescue his friend, find and release other people who may be held.

The lady's voice interrupted Thomas' thoughts: "You have a lot to think about in your little brain." "Yeah... sorry, when do you think the explosives will ignite?" "Soon, I think, they've been laying it out for hours. They want to detonate it all at once, but I don't think we're that good at it." "What about the people in there? What about the people who came to the rescue?" The two looked at each other, then shrugged and said, "Vince wants to get everybody out." "He wants? What does that mean?" "He hopes."

"I need to talk to him." What Thomas really wanted was to find Minho and Brenda. With or without the Righteous Army, he knew what they were going to do: go to the maze, get everyone out, board the plane traverser. The lady pointed to the hole in the side of the building and said, "Over there, across the road, is pretty much where they're taking over. You should be able to find Vince in there, but be careful. WICKED guards are hiding everywhere, they're evil little things." "Thanks for the reminder." Thomas turned around, eager to get in.The hole looked gloomy, dusty and pitch black.Hearing no sirens or seeing any flashing red lights, he stepped inside.

At first, Thomas couldn't see or hear anything. He walked forward quietly, taking every turn carefully, lest there be danger ahead. As he walked in, the lights became brighter and brighter, and when the corridor was almost at the end, he finally saw a door, which was already open.He trotted over to look inside, and saw a large room, with several tables scattered on the floor, placed against the wall like shields, and several people squatted behind the tables. Those people looked at a double door in the opposite room. No one noticed that he was hiding by the door frame. Basically, his whole body was hidden inside. He leaned his head to get a better look.He finds Vince and Gary behind a desk and doesn't know anyone else.At the left end of the room was a small office, in which he figured at least nine or ten people were hiding. He craned his neck to look there, but couldn't recognize a face.

"Hi!" he plucked up his courage and whispered, "Hi! Gary!" The boy turned immediately, but looked around for a moment before he spotted Thomas.Gary squinted, as if he couldn't believe what his eyes saw. Thomas waved his hand, convincing him it was him, and Gary motioned for him to pass. Thomas looked left and right again, crouched down after making sure it was safe, ran to the table, and fell to the ground next to his old enemy. He has so many questions to ask and doesn't know where to start. "What happened?" Gary asked him. "What did they do to you?"

Vince stared at him, but said nothing. Thomas didn't know how to answer. "They... did a few tests. Look, I found where they hid the immune. We didn't get them out, so you can't blow up the place." "Then go save them," Vince said, "This is our only chance, and I don't want to waste it." "You brought them here!" Thomas looked at Gary for support, but he only saw Gary shrug in reply. Thomas can only fight alone. "Where are Brenda, Minho, and the others?" he asked. Gary nodded to the next room. "Those guys are all there and say you don't do anything until you come back."

Thomas suddenly felt sorry for the scarred boy beside him. "Gary, come with me. Let these people do what they want, but you have to come and help us. Don't you want someone to do that while we're still in the maze?" Vince turned suddenly, facing them. "Don't even think about it," he howled. "Thomas, you know what we're here for. If you desert us now, I'll consider you a traitor, and you'll be our target." Thomas stared at Gary, and it broke his heart to see the sadness in the boy's eyes.He also saw something he hadn't seen before: trust, genuine trust.

"Come with us," Thomas said. Gary smiled, something Thomas had never expected his old enemy to respond to. "Ok." Thomas didn't wait for Vince to react, he grabbed Gary's arm and they sprinted away from the desk together, then ran to the office and slipped inside. Minho was the first to come to meet him, and he hugged him with open arms, embarrassing Gary next to him.Saw everyone else there: Brenda, Jorge, Teresa, and Ares.Thomas greeted and hugged everyone one by one, his head spinning. He was particularly excited to see Brenda, and he talked to her a little longer. It felt good, but he knew they didn't have much time for their relationship.

He draws away. "I can't explain it to everyone right now, we have to go find the Immunizers that WICKED captured, and then find the back door to the plane traverser that I know. We have to hurry before the Justice Army razes this place to the ground. " "Where are the immune ones?" Brenda asked. "Yeah, what do you know?" Minho continued to ask. Without thinking, and never thinking, Thomas said, "We're going back to the maze."
