Chapter 50 Chapter 50: The Mystery of the Disappearance of the Immune

The van stopped, Lawrence turned off the engine, and there was silence. The only sound Thomas could hear was the throbbing of the veins in his head, and he closed his eyes, trying to slow his breathing.Neither of the other two said a word for a long time, until Lawrence broke the silence. "They're just outside, surrounding us, waiting for us to get out." Thomas forced himself to sit up, and faced the front of the car again. It was dark outside the broken window glass. "Who are you talking about?" Brenda asked. "Boss's guards, they know it's one of their vans, but they won't come near us until we show up. They've got to figure out who we are, and I'm guessing there's about twenty guns now Face us."

"Then what should we do?" Thomas asked, not wanting to confront anyone again. "Let's get out, be good, get out slowly, and they'll recognize me in no time." Thomas climbed over from his seat. "Shall we go out together, or alone first?" "I'll go out first and tell them there's nothing wrong. You wait, I knock on the window and you come out." Lawrence replied, "Are you ready?" "It should be fine," Thomas said with a sigh. "We're going to lose all our work," Brenda said. "After all the hard work, if they shot me...I'd definitely look like a lunatic right now."

Lawrence opened the car door and got out, Thomas anxiously awaiting his cue. There was a loud bang on the truck frame, and Thomas was startled, but he was ready. Brenda opened the door slowly and carefully and went out, Thomas followed her, groping in the dark to see something, but it was pitch black. Suddenly there was a beep, and the place was suddenly illuminated.Thomas held up his hands, squeezed his eyes shut, then shielded himself with his hands, squinting to see what was happening.A large spotlight on a tripod was shining directly on them, and he could see two people standing on either side of the spotlight, and he could only see their silhouettes. He scanned the rest of the area and saw at least a dozen people standing there, all armed with assorted weapons, just as Lawrence had said.

"Lawrence, is that you?" someone yelled, and the voice echoed off the concrete walls, making it impossible to see who was speaking. "Yes, it's me." "What happened to our truck? Who are these people? Didn't you come in with infected people?" "While passing through the alleyway, a large group of demented patients jumped up and tossed for a long time. These people are immune guys... They forced me to bring them to see you, and they want to see the boss." "Why?" the man asked. "they said--" The man interrupted him: "No, I want to hear them say it themselves. Tell us your names and tell us why we forced our people to bring you here and wreck the few cars that were left. gone."

Thomas and Brenda exchanged glances, trying to decide who would answer, and Brenda nodded to him. Thomas turned his gaze to the spotlight, looking at the man on his right.Who was talking to him, he could only guess. "My name is Thomas and she's Brenda. We know Gary...we were together at WICKED and he told us a few days ago about the Righteous Army and exactly what you're doing .We are ready to help, but not in this way. We want to know what you plan to do, why you kidnap people who are immune and lock them up. I think it is no different from WICKED." Thomas didn't know what he wanted to hear, but the guy started giggling. "I thought I'd let you see the boss, so you could see if we were like WICKED after all."

Thomas shrugged and said, "Okay, let's meet your boss." The man looked like he really hated WICKED, but Thomas still couldn't understand why they wanted to arrest those people. "You'd better not lie, boy," said the fellow. "Lawrence, bring 'em in. One of you go check the van and see if there's any weapons." Thomas was led up two flights of stairs with Brenda without saying a word. Then through an old wooden door and down a dirty corridor. There was a lightbulb hanging in the hallway, the wallpaper had peeled off, and then finally a large interior space, like a conference room that was over fifty years old, looked fine. Now, all that remains of the conference room is a large, scratched table and a few plastic chairs scattered around the room.

There were two people sitting at the other end of the table, and Thomas saw Gary on the right. He looked tired and disheveled, but he pulled himself together, nodded and smiled, and there was nothing more than an unfortunate wrinkle on his face.Sitting next to him was a large man with more fat than muscle, and the white plastic chair could barely hold him. "Is this the headquarters of the Justice Army?" Brenda asked, "I'm a bit lost." Gary lost his smile and replied, "We've moved here and there, I can't count the number of times, but thank you for your compliment."

"Then who is the boss?" Thomas asked. Gary nodded to his companion. "Don't be stupid... Vince is in charge, give it some respect. He risked his life because he believed he could turn things around." Thomas held up his hand, trying to moderate the situation. "I don't mean anything else. When I was in your apartment, looking at you, I thought you were the person in charge." "Well, I'm not, Vince is." "Does Vince know how to talk?" Brenda asked. "Enough!" cried the big man, in a deep, powerful voice. "Our whole city is full of delirious people. I don't have time to sit here and listen to your childish quarrels. What do you people want?"

Thomas suppressed his anger. "Just one thing, we want to know why you got us, why you kidnapped people for WICKED. Gary gave us so much hope, we thought we were on the same side. Think how surprised we were, finding out The righteous army is actually the same as the people they are fighting against. How much money can you make from human trafficking like this?" "Gary," the man replied, but he didn't seem to hear a word Thomas said. "What's up?" "Do you trust these two people?" Ignoring Thomas' stare, Gary said, "Yes." He nodded. "We can."

Vince was leaning over, his thick arms resting on the table. "Then let's not waste time, boy, it's a similar operation, but we don't make anyone a penny, and we're gathering Immunizers to pretend to be WICKED." Thomas was surprised to hear this answer. "Why are you doing this?" "We want to use them to get into their headquarters."
