Chapter 18 Chapter 18 The Attack Is Ferocious

Someone grabbed Thomas by the collar and pulled him violently to the left. He staggered and fell behind the cargo box, and then there was the sound of glass shattering, and the whole hangar was flickering and crackling.Several lightning flashes formed several arc lights, wrapped around the crate, and the air was full of the smell of burning. In the blink of an eye a volley of bullets came and fell on the wood. "Who untied them?" Minho called out. "Now is not the time to think about this shit!" Newt yelled back at him. A group of people curled up on the ground, their bodies pressed against each other. It is basically impossible to fight back against them in such a posture.

"They're going to flank us any moment," Jorge yelled. "We've got to start shooting them!" Despite the ferocity of the attack over there, Thomas said suddenly: "So, I guess you're on our side?" The pilot looked at Brenda, shrugged, and said, "If she's helping you, then so am I. If you haven't noticed—they want my life too!" Thomas suddenly felt less frightened. Now they have to get on top of those Berg ships. The shooting stopped for a moment, and Thomas heard the rustling of footsteps and the snap of orders. If they're going to have any advantage, they'll have to act fast and preemptively.

"What shall we do?" he asked Minho, "This time you are in charge." His friend gave him a hard look, but nodded hastily and said, "Okay, I'll fire to the right and Newt to the left. Thomas and Brenda, you two shoot at the boxes. Jorge, you lead the way." , take us to your broken Berg ship. Shoot anything that moves or wears black, get ready." Thomas was kneeling, facing the box, ready to jump out anytime Minho commanded him.Next to him was Brenda, not a launcher but two pistols, eyes blazing. "Are you going to kill someone?" Thomas asked.

"No, I'm going to shoot them in the thigh. But who knows, maybe I accidentally overshoot." She smiled at him, and Thomas liked her more and more. "Okay!" Minho yelled, "Start!" They moved, Thomas standing, raising the launcher above the crate. He fired, not daring to take a good look, but jumped out when he heard the sound of the grenade exploding, looking for a specific target.A man stalked across the room toward them, and Thomas shot him.As soon as the grenade touched the man's chest, electric sparks exploded, and he was convulsed and rolled all over the floor.

The hangar was filled with gunfire and screams, and the sound of static. The guards clutched their wounds and tumbled to the ground, holding mostly their thigh wounds, just as Brenda had promised.Others ran and ran, seeking cover. "We beat them off!" Minho yelled, "but it won't last long, maybe they didn't realize we had weapons. Jorge, which one is your Berg ship?" "That ship," Jorge pointed to the end of the left corner of the hangar, "that's my baby, and I can fly away with it soon." Thomas turned his head and looked in the direction Jorge pointed. The cabin door of the Berg spaceship was lowered wide open, waiting for passengers to run up its metal ramp. This is more attractive.

Minho dropped another grenade. "Okay, first, everyone reloads. Then Newt and I come to cover, while Thomas, Jorge, and Brenda run towards the Berg ship. Jorge, when you launch the ship, let Thomas and Brenda go Covering us from the back of the plane sounds like a plan, doesn't it?" "Would the launcher hurt the Berg?" Thomas asked.By this time everyone was cramming extra ammo into their weapons and pockets. Jorge shook his head. "Not much damage, those beasts are stronger than camels in the Scorched Earth. If they can't hit us, but my battleship, that's the best. Let's start, brothers!"

"Let's go then!" Minho yelled without warning. He and Newt started firing grenades like crazy, sending them rolling all over the front of the Berg like volleyballs. Thomas couldn't contain his excitement. He and Brenda stood apart on Jorge's left and right, and ran over under the cover of the cargo box. There was a hail of bullets in the air, but there was so much lightning and so much smoke that it was almost impossible to target anyone.Thomas tried to aim his weapon as he ran, and so did Brenda. He swore he felt the bullet brush past him, almost getting hit.The grenade flew out of the launcher and exploded when it hit the glass, rattling left and right.

"Run!" Jorge yelled. Thomas stepped up and ran faster, his legs burning.Lightning flashed from every direction like knives and arrows; the bullets banged against the metal walls of the hangar; the place was smoky and twirling like fingers. His eyes were blurred and he couldn't see anything, even though the Berg was dozens of feet away. They were almost there when, suddenly, a grenade hit Brenda in the back, and she screamed and fell on her face, and then the lightning spread across her body like a spider's web. Thomas stopped abruptly, called her name, and fell to the ground, trying not to make himself a target.Tendrils of lightning snaked all over Brenda's body and turned into wisps of smoke when they touched the floor.Thomas lay on his stomach a few inches away from her, on his stomach, trying to get closer to her while dodging the white puffs of running air.

Apparently, Newt and Minho saw the tragedy, and the situation had taken a turn for the worse, so they had to abandon the current plan. They came running towards him, continuing to fire as they went.Jorge had already made his way to the Berg, disappearing into the cabin, but he came out again, picking up another launcher and strafing everything its grenades hit in bursts of flame.A few guards screamed at the sight of the flames, and others retreated a little at the new threat. Thomas lay on the floor next to Brenda, waiting anxiously, cursing himself that there was nothing he could do.He knew he'd have to wait until the flashes faded before he could grab her and drag her to the Berg, but he didn't know if he'd have time to do so.Her face turned pale, her nose was bleeding, her mouth was foaming, her limbs were twitching, her whole body was bouncing, her eyes dilated with fright.

Newt and Minho also rolled to the ground when they reached him. "Stay away!" Thomas yelled. "Keep going to the Berg, take cover behind the cabin, and cover us when we start walking through. Fire harder until we get there." "Stop talking!" Minho also yelled at him.He grabbed Brenda's shoulder, and Thomas couldn't breathe to see his friend frown—several jagged arcs of light climbed his arm.But the energy had weakened considerably, so Minho stood up and started pulling her forward. Thomas put his arms around Brenda's shoulders, and Newt lifted her legs. They backed up to the Berg, and the hangar was a world of noise, smoke, and lightning.Thomas felt a burning pain as a bullet flew past his thigh, and then blood oozes. An inch more and he'd be limping for life, or bleeding to death. He let out a yelp, thinking that everyone in black might be the one who hit him.

Thomas glanced at Minho, the boy's face was deformed as he struggled to drag Brenda. He suppressed his anger, bravely raised the launcher under his feet with one hand, and took advantage of someone pulling Brenda away, randomly shooting in all directions. Once they got to the cabin, Jorge dropped his massive weapon and slid down the ramp, grabbing Brenda's arm.Thomas let go of her shirt and let Minho and Jorge drag her into the spaceship, only to hear her heels thump against the raised anti-slip grooves. Newt picked up the gun and fired another burst, firing grenades left and right, until he ran out of ammo.Thomas also shot for a while and emptied his launcher. The hangar guards knew full well that they were running out of time, and a large group rushed to the ship, firing again. "Stop the ammo!" Thomas yelled. "Let's go!" Newt turned and climbed up the ramp.Thomas was right behind him, and just as his head was in the hatch, he heard a thud, as if something had split open in his back.In an instant, he felt a scorching heat behind him, and the energy of hundreds of strong lights quickly gathered on him.He fell backwards, tumbling, step by step, until he lay on the floor of the hangar, convulsing all over and blurring his vision.
