Foreword by the English translator (note to the article "Minutes of the Wannsee Conference" is attached) For a retired naval officer, it is often difficult to pass the time. However, in recent years I have been concentrating on translating General Armin. "The Lost Empire of the World" and its sequel "Carnage of the World".
These strategic summaries are drawn from Ronna's two-volume operational analysis of World War II, which he wrote while he was in prison as a war criminal.Long's view may seem too general, abstracting away the campaign analysis that underpins these summaries.Yet his entire work is written for military specialists, who can read German directly.A German publisher first compiled it as a two-part popular history of the war, and other people can only learn Long's views from this section.
Although these two volumes are strongly nationalistic, the general strategic views in the books should be of interest to readers who need a work worth reading that details the "opposite" view of the whole process of the war.Long's thorough analysis of previous naval battles in the Pacific Ocean shows the pinnacle of German military expertise. We must know that the Pacific Ocean is a battlefield far away from its own country.Wherever I feel that I disagree with Long's point of view, my comments are marked in imitation Song characters.
I prefaced this book with an article written by Long for a military magazine shortly before his death, titled "The Minutes of the Wannsee Conference".I think this article should be listed as required reading for first-year students in all military academies.
Since The Lost Empire of the World was published, I have received many letters from old friends and comrades (among them a Soviet general) expressing surprise at my willingness to promote the views of a convicted German war criminal.I am not defending the Germans.They waged the most heinous war in the history of mankind, nearly won it, and committed unprecedented crimes under the pretext of wartime secrecy.I think we have to study the mental state of the Germans, which led to massive raids (which were militarily brilliant), and their dead-end allegiance to a mad tyrant.Without Armin.Feng.Long and his ilk followed Hitler and fought for him to the end, Adolf.Hitler could only be a useless, fanatical blowhard all his life, never the most powerful demon king in history, who almost destroyed the civilized world.That's why I translated Almin.Feng.Long's book is also the reason why I think "Wannsee Meeting Minutes" should become a must-read for soldiers.

We cannot fail to classify the Jews as an underground organization with potential power, which is difficult to deal with in terms of numbers, intelligence, and material means.The worst enemies are often the desperate ones who have nothing to lose.Guerrillas of other nations can change their allegiances and stand with us.Jews have no such choice.The military had no choice but to cooperate with the authorities' special treatment of Jews.
The nature of these measures is outside the remit of the military.Jointly performing this task are various federal police agencies, such as the German Central Security Bureau, the Gestapo, the SS Security Service, the regular SS, etc., all of which represent the Nazi elites who are fighting for power and profit.All these bodies converge into a single executive Adolf.A powerful tool of Hitler's will, since policy concerning the Jews was governed by Adolf.Hitler made it alone.The essence of this policy is to eliminate the Jewish people in Europe.It should be noted that this policy failed.Despite nearly four years of Hitler's regime on the continent, about half of Europe's Jews have narrowly escaped death.The implementation of this policy has been corrupted by bureaucracy from beginning to end and has nothing to do with the military.

Naturally, few documents survive the catastrophe on this secret policy.Because this policy is implemented with extreme care.The key orders are all given verbally, "Only you know and I know".The materials in black and white are indeed so scarce that some authoritative figures firmly believe after calm thinking that the so-called "extinction" is purely false.According to this argument, all but hundreds of thousands of Jews actually fled to the Soviet Union, to the West, or to Palestine; The conditions were, of course, harsh; and the crematorium was just a routine sanitation facility dedicated to the cremation of those who had died under state prohibition.
Unfortunately, these written records, though scarce, suggest the opposite.For example, the surviving census has very few people listed as executed; and thousands of prisoners often die of "heart failure" on the same day.Obviously, there must be an inducing reason for such a large number of people suffering from heart failure at the same time.To insist on distinguishing those who died in this way from those who were sentenced to death is tantamount to conducting an overly detailed analysis for the purpose of pursuing legal responsibility.
Moreover, there are SS documents discussing the painless efficacy of "Zyklon B" gas, its comparison with shooting and carbon monoxide asphyxiation, etc., etc., and German industrialists and SS officers discussing design and Detailed correspondence on the construction of a gigantic crematorium, etc., etc.All of these unmistakable documents point to a systematic plan to create and dispose of large numbers of human corpses.Therefore, people cannot help but admit that the practice of exterminating corpses has indeed taken place.
Of these surviving German documents, none is more telling than the Minutes of the Wannsee Conference of January 20, 1942.
"Wannsee Meeting Minutes" Due to the sudden collapse of our various fronts, this meeting minutes was able to see the light of day.Many tons of top-secret documents in our country should have been destroyed according to standard secrecy practices, but now they have fallen into the hands of the United States, Britain, and the Soviet Union intact. "Wannsee Conference Minutes" is one of them.
Had Moscow suddenly fallen into the hands of our Army Group Center in December 1941, the same damaging documents would have fallen into our hands.Stalin was a man exactly as ruthless as Hitler.He ordered numerous mass and secret massacres of his own Russian people, and his minions obediently complied.It is estimated that the number of people killed was as high as 60 million!But so far there has not been an official file to expose this incident and shock the world.Therefore, no one slandered the Russian people as a nation of murderers.
And what if, as I had been advocating for a while in June 1940, we carried out a lightning raid across the English Channel into England and captured London?So what shameful Whitehall file has escaped our exposure?In India, in Egypt, in Malaya, in South Africa, virtually wherever the British imperialists unfurled the Union Jack, the local people revolted, unwilling to be drained dry to fatten the Anglo-Mixons, and thus suffered Wherever British troops brutally suppressed such appalling incidents, they would have been well documented.But now these things are still a well-kept secret.
Only Germany has suffered the ignominy of having its own archives uncovered.Only Germany was exposed to broad daylight.Even Japan, the defeated nation, was allowed to keep their emperor and government agencies, so that they could hide the documents related to the Nanking Massacre and the March to Death on Bataan.
In fact, documents such as the "Wannsee Meeting Minutes" exist in the secret archives of every country.Human nature is the same everywhere.Let the United States open its files on its extermination of the Red Indians, on its looting of Texas from Mexico, on its persecution of Japanese Americans after Pearl Harbor.Let us then see how such facts compare with the truth revealed in the Wannsee Minutes.
The meeting minutes of the Wannsee meeting are 15 pages of mimeographed confidential documents, which were discovered by American investigators when reviewing a large number of seized files of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of my country.A note stated that thirty copies had originally been printed.Today only the copy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, numbered sixteenth, remains.Scholars of world history rely on such a thin clue to gain an in-depth understanding of Hitler's Jewish policies.The secret was almost kept!
The document describes a meeting held at the headquarters of the International Police Organization in the Gross 10,000 Lakes district of Berlin on January 20, 1942, shortly after the United States entered the war.The chairman of the meeting was Heydrich, a naval officer who had been dismissed for scandal and became the head of the security police and the head of the German Central Security Bureau in the chaotic Nazi era.This guy named Heydrich was number two in the SS under the unpopular Himmler.As early as the beginning of 1942, the SS had taken control of all the security and police departments of our country.So when Heydrich convened this meeting, the ministers of various ministries came one after another.They met for about an hour and a half with seven SS men, one of them, Adolf.Lieutenant Colonel Aikman takes minutes of the meeting.These meeting minutes were reviewed by Heydrich and became the "Wannsee Meeting Minutes".
These eight senior officials were from the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Regional Affairs in the Occupied East, the Governor-General of Poland, the German Chancellery, and the Office of the Plenipotentiary for the Four-Year Plan-in fact, every one except the armed forces. All important government departments have participated.There is no evidence that anyone in the armed forces knew of the meeting.
This is the grim fact exposed by the "Wannsee Conference Minutes".The honor of the German state is entrusted to our armed forces, and our armed forces know nothing about it.It was a joint meeting of the secret police and the federal bureaucracy.The Eckermann-Heydrich document proves this.

Heydrich seems to have called the meeting to please his superiors.Six months ago, on July 31, 1941, when we were aggressively attacking the Soviet Union, German Marshal Hermann.In a top-secret letter, Goering ordered him to organize and deploy to deal with the Jewish problem; to recruit other government departments to participate if necessary; and to submit a draft to Goering "as soon as possible", stating what actions have been taken and further plans what is it.Although according to SS practice, such things do not appear in the text, the "Wannsee Minutes" was obviously produced to impress Göring with Heydrich's fawning.
Goering used the words "a complete solution for the Jews" in his letter.Since the revelations of the meeting minutes: the term "complete settlement" has taken on nasty collateral connotations in anti-German writing.Heydrich often uses a more precise term: "regional solutions".This article uses this noun.
The Regional Solution Three approaches to the Jewish problem have appeared in various policy analysis articles over the years: the immigration solution, the deportation solution, and the regional solution.
At first the Nazis thought that once they came to power, most of the Jews would emigrate.But in the end, the Jews in Germany were unwilling to give up their homes and careers, as well as the tombs of their ancestors, even after Hitler's Nuremberg Laws reduced them to low-class pariahs.They hoped that the Nazi regime was just a passing storm.Few of the Jews elsewhere in Europe seemed to think that there was going to be a major war, and that if it did, Germany would win.Consequently, far more Jews stayed in Germany than left.Outside of Germany, Jewish immigration was insignificant.
But even for the few Jews who wanted to leave, the immigrant solution ran aground.If Hebrews are no longer welcome in Germany, it appears that the rest of the world is not very welcoming either.After Hitler came to power, Western European countries imposed stricter restrictions on the entry of Jews every year.Those sparsely populated and vast countries in the New World, under the leadership of the United States, the "refuge of oppressed mankind", closed their iron doors one after another in front of the Jews.This is a dark chapter in the history of man-to-man inhumanity.
When the Hitler regime understood that the Jews were unwilling to emigrate, and that it was not easy to find their way into another country anyway, the solution to deportation was proposed, namely forced emigration.The tricky question is: where to go?
Of all the deportation programs, the one that stands out among the surviving documents is the Madagascar Plan.The problem of forcing European Jews to settle on this French island off the coast of South Africa has been given considerable consideration.But because of the difficulties--lack of ships to transport these eleven million people, the enemy's control of the sea, the great expense, and the fear of offending the Vichy French government, with whom we seek to cooperate, and this unexplored Tropical islands were not hospitable to Europeans—so it's hard to say how problematic this plan was.All talk of Jewish settlements on the island ceased when the navy later pointed out to Hitler that the British would one day land on Madagascar to defend their sea lines of communication in the Indian Ocean.The Führer declared that Britain would only "redistribute these harmful bacilli all over the world".
The situation thus developed to the point where it could only be settled locally on European soil.This leads to regional solutions.Heydrich lifted the veil of secrecy at Wannsee, so that the bureaucrats of the Federation could once and for all clearly understand the nature of the work they were about to do.
Program Logically, this cruel program should not exist in the twentieth century.it's a pity!Cologne, Dresden, Katyn, and Hiroshima illustrate that this case of wartime moral decay was indeed not limited to Germany.The regional solution to the Jewish problem was a frivolous scheme, conceived out of thin air by irresponsible and incompetent office-bearers in Berlin.From an administrative standpoint, the scheme was a mess from start to finish.Like most of the plans that people conjure up out of thin air in those comfortable suites in Government House, they seem to be well-organized and orderly, but they hit a wall when they arrive on the scene.It is true that many Jews died in the course of the execution, but on the whole it was a shameful failure of unprecedented proportions.
The key to the regional solution is that in 1941 we occupied a large area of land.After searching and searching, I finally found a place in the Eastern Occupied Area where the Jews could be sent.Because there is no need to negotiate with any government here, and there is no need to comfort the local people.This is half of the European continent under German guns, sparsely populated.
Heydrich came up with a simple plan that made the most sense.The European Jews should be "cleared from the West to the East", temporarily concentrated in the Transit Jewish Ghetto, and then organized into huge labor brigades according to gender, and transported to the Eastern occupied areas.When I got there, I asked them to build roads, which are in great need of roads in this backward area for military purposes.In the process of taking this action, "most Jews will undoubtedly be eliminated by natural factors", such as poor living conditions and physical weakening due to labor.As for the few tried and narrowly escaped, Heydrich said bluntly that they had to be dealt with "correspondingly", because natural selection proved that they were tenacious, and if they were not dealt with, they would constitute The new seed of the Jewish nation.This is the cruel and ruthless thinking of the government at that time.
The unanimous response from cabinet officials was one of high enthusiasm, offering suggestions to improve or speed up the program.The meeting ended in a good atmosphere with unanimous agreement, and after the meeting, a feast of good food and wine was held in accordance with the practice of upper-level officials.
But the plan almost never worked out from the start.Labor brigades have not been established at all.No road was built either.Since 1943, during the rapid march of our army to withdraw from Russia, the army deeply felt that the plan could not be realized and suffered greatly.Indeed, Jews from all over Europe were rounded up and shipped east to the transit ghetto in Poland.But they stayed there-the large number of these imprisoned refugees caused a huge burden on Germany's manpower and material resources, and posed a growing threat to the rear in terms of health and security.
None of the later SS meeting minutes are now available, and there is no way to explain why Heydrich's plan was abandoned.The regional solution was haphazardly refashioned into the construction of large factories near the ever-expanding transit ghettos and the use of Jewish forced labor on the spot.They tried to achieve the expected natural reduction in the number of people by reducing nutrition, strengthening labor progress, and other methods.But uprooting and relocating 11 million people is, after all, an unimaginable administrative task that cannot be solved by the stupid villages in Berlin who are in charge of this plan. As mentioned above, half of the The Jews escaped the catastrophe.Only 5.5 million people died as a result of this plan, with the highest estimate being 6 million.
Less Painful Executions We still don't know exactly when the sudden switch to gas chambers for euthanasia (less painful executions) happened or how.There is widespread misinterpretation and misunderstanding of this unclear issue.
Heydrich's plan was created by a group of pampered bureaucrats. They didn't suffer as much as soldiers, suffered so much, and experienced so many times of life and death.The resulting plan turned out to be a scandal of the utmost absurdity.The resilience of the human mind and body is amazing.Prisoners of war endured harsh living conditions for several years.They learn to eat and drink almost anything.Driven by the need to survive, the needs of their depleted bodies are reduced to almost nothing.All of these phenomena took place in the transit ghetto.Natural elimination is slow and painful.Suddenly the plague spread, and the germs did not distinguish between the captives and the captives.Consequently, sickly Jews became a constant threat to the local population and to our armed forces.
These developments evidently aroused the thought that these people were already condemned to death anyway, so why not save them long-term suffering by a quick and painless death?At the same time, wouldn't it be possible to remove a great burden from our army?This burden is so heavy, I didn't expect it in time.
It turned out that the gas chambers were justified entirely in these essentially humanitarian spirits.Saving Jewish lives was simply impossible.Adolf.Hitler himself issued the order to kill them, and his will was the law.People can only implement it in the most legitimate, practical and civilized way.It is regrettable in retrospect that the undeniable fact that a million children were poisoned in this way has been so much publicized.Starving to death, however, would be a more painful slow death for the child, and the parents would also have to endure the pain of watching the child emaciate and die.
As for the plundering of the newly arrived Jews, and even of the corpses of those unfortunate victims, such behavior is truly inexcusable.The SS amassed gold and silver treasures worth billions of marks in this way, but it is doubtful whether this was good for Germany's war effort, because Himmler-Heydrich's secret service was domineering and corrupt.As for the legend of using corpses to make soap, of course it is nonsense that the British replayed the First World War.
Military influence: (1) Manpower This is not a rear problem without military influence.Regional solutions have concretely compromised our military operations.
The biggest damage is on the human side.Large numbers of able-bodied German men were drawn from combat duty to run the Jews.Search teams, concentration camp guards, etc., were recruited from among the local population.Despite this, there are still several divisions of Germans who do not go to war, but are busy with Jewish affairs in government agencies and concentration camps.
The problem of insufficient manpower also often occurs in our factory.Prisoners of war and forced laborers from the occupied territories worked half-heartedly at best, and continued to sabotage no matter how many people were shot.However, the Jews are full of talents, skilled craftsmen and professionals, and men and women can easily learn any technical labor.In fact, that's how they were used before the ruthless Snatchers came to take them away.They don't do much sabotage.On the contrary, they worked extremely well, which shows that they desperately wanted to keep themselves alive and the lives of their loved ones.We have thus lost millions of highly reliable, highly motivated, highly productive labor forces.

Military impact: (2) The burden on railway transportation caused by military supplies and logistics at that time was really unimaginable, and it was regular.No matter how packed the trains are - and such overloading is well known - the occupation of most of the wagons is always a serious problem.There were never enough wagons and locomotives for the front.The officers and soldiers of the Combat Division sat trembling at the rear station, while the trains specially used to transport Jews were full, and the wheels rolled away to the east, and then returned empty, without any other use.This non-combat use has an overriding secrecy priority which in the United States has been given only to the atomic bomb-building units.
Military Effects: (iii) Morale Although the ultimate intent of this policy was always kept secret, many German units did see it in action.This is well documented.Regrettably, some troops were also recruited, not only in transporting Jews or guarding them, but also in the killing process.
Local troop commanders also sometimes provided and transported mobile firing squads, since they were on official business.These SS firing squads, known as Special Operations Squads, followed our advancing troops into Russia.In order to kill guerrilla activities in the bud, they were ordered to shoot political commissars without trial; this was the famous "Order of Political Commissars" issued in March 1941.They were also ordered to treat all captured Jews as the main threat to Germany's security and immediately eliminate them.The local residents were happy and volunteered to join the special operations team to deal with the local Jews. The results were horrific, especially in Lithuania, Romania and Hungary.Hundreds of thousands of Jews were systematically shot by relatively disciplined German firing squads within the military area.
German soldiers could not always avoid seeing what was happening.In individual cases, erroneously guided local army commanders even allowed their troops—or even ordered their troops—to participate in massacres.It turned out to be all the facts, as well as the photographs: Soldiers in the uniform of the German Armed Forces shot dead Jewish women with babies in their arms.Events of this kind undoubtedly had a somewhat demoralizing effect in our ranks and raised doubts about the purpose of our war.When this happens to an army, its fighting spirit is damaged.As with many aspects of regional solutions, this demoralizing effect on our troops cannot be expressed in percentages or other telling numbers.However, this was a real factor on the Eastern Front.Like defeatism, lack of self-confidence has an intangible but significant effect on warfare.
A soldier is trained to kill.It is to risk one's own life against the enemy's; this is the most upright principle of being a soldier.Soldiers also sometimes have to perform the more regrettable and dirty tasks.They had to shoot blindfolded, powerless spies or guerrillas who stood there waiting to die.They were sometimes ordered to hang young men, girls and women who might become good guerrilla fighters.But this does not mean that soldiers have always endured this kind of work, especially a German soldier, who is trained to be brave and good on the battlefield, but also pay attention to decency and integrity.At this point, the sins that the Nazis have done to our German youth are unforgettable and unforgivable.
The nature of the enemy thus brings us to the heart of the whole question: Is this solution, despite its drawbacks, an absolutely necessary security measure in time of war?Are the Jews really the fundamental enemy of the security of the Reich that Hitler assumed?Another question arose in conjunction with this question—"Which kind of empire?"
Since the French Revolution we have philosophically and politically two irreconcilable conceptions of empire.
(a) Concept of Liberalism: a peace-loving empire, culturally open to the outside world, inclusive, freeing the Jews, establishing a bourgeois democracy following the example of France and England, and making Germany a military secondary .
(b) The concept of nationalism: the Empire as a new world power, the natural successor of the British Empire; the establishment of a German culture free of all foreign colors; the establishment of Armed forces; blind loyalty to the king, to the country, to the ancient virtues of Christianity.
Out of these two ideas sprang socialism, bringing with it the sentimental and poisonous hodgepodge of cosmopolitanism, egalitarianism, and the abolition of private property.But nationalism is the true essence of Germany.Whenever the nationalist empire prevailed - 1866, 1870-1871, 1914, 1917 - we were strong and victorious.Whenever liberals and socialists showed their faces, Germany suffered.
All thanks to Adolf.Hitler's political genius fused the mysteries of a nationalist empire with the motivating appeal of socialism.Thus was born National Socialism, a mass movement on the verge of breaking out.Hitler's reformed socialism would not provoke opposition from the military.This kind of socialism is the imposition of strict economic control, with basic employment, health care and welfare measures for all people except the Jews.
Yet the Jews were the backbone of German liberalism. 'Liberalism gave them citizenship and privileges.Liberalism frees them to use their energy and talents freely in the worlds of finance, freelance work, and the arts.These people who had been discriminated against in the past, were then everywhere—thriving, foreign, holding important positions, flaunting their newfound wealth with carelessness.For the Jews, liberalism was their salvation.So, to Adolf.For a man as devoted to nationalism as Hitler, the Jews seemed to be the ultimate enemy.
Sad to say, everything is based on this point of view.
The real power of the Jewish people, however, stands in the face of an actual historical fact, and all attempts to justify a regional solution fail.The Jews proved to be incapable of saving themselves, and of inducing others to save them; and the instinct of self-preservation is the touchstone of a people's true strength.
The Jews outside Hitler's hands could only watch helplessly, watching their flesh and blood brothers in Europe end up in an unexplained, sinister and terrible end.So what was the basis for Hitler's thesis of belief that the Jews held politically firm control of the Western world?The Jews can neither persuade a country to open the door for them, nor can they buy a country to do so, and they can't even have an effect on a republic in South America. So where is their so-called endless wealth?In 1944, when the secrets began to leak, they begged the British and Americans to bomb Auschwitz, but it was a waste of words. So what is the so-called pervasive influence of them?
These things are self-evident.Hitler exaggerated the threat of the Jews and led the well-meaning German people astray.The Jews could have been of great use to us.It would be desirable for our side to add rather than subtract from their significant role in terms of manpower, skills and international influence.Maybe even the ending of this war will be different in the future!
