Chapter 1 foreword

war and memory 赫尔曼·沃克 561Words 2018-03-14
It is a historical legend. The theme is about World War II, and the point of view is American. is the prologue, published in 1971, and sets the historical framework for the book by depicting the series of events leading up to Pearl Harbor.is a novel about American warfare—from Pearl Harbor to Hiroshima. This is the main story I'm going to tell.I certainly hope that even in this busy age, some readers can find time to read these two novels, but they are a story in themselves and can be read without reading the prologue. The theme of these two novels is one.It clearly manifests itself in Victor. In Henry's final words on the Battle of Wright Gulf: "The war is over, or we are over."

I use the color and movement of the art of fiction to represent this theme so that "everyone who can walk can read" and remember what happened in the worst of the world's catastrophes. As for the historical facts in these two novels, I believe that the knowledgeable reader will find that they are written carefully and responsibly. Only one conclusion can be drawn from these two consecutive novels: war is an old habit of thought, an old state of mind, an old political method, just as human sacrifice and human slavery are a relic of the past , the war will definitely become a thing of the past in the future.I have no doubt that the human spirit will prove itself up to the long and arduous task of ending war.Despite the pessimism of our times, and despite the dark side of what I have written in this book, I think the human spirit is inherently heroic. The various heroic deeds described in this novel are aimed at showing this heroic and fearless essence in action.

The beginning of the end of war resides in memory. Herman Walker in Washington March 23, 1978 Purim 5738 Judah
