Chapter 2 preface is just a story

"It's a story that can never be made public." Chen Shou knelt in the room and said to the blank wall. The shadow on the wall shook with the candlelight, as if laughing at him. "But I really want to record it. Not every historian has such an opportunity." Chen Shou picked up the brush, and his eyes were full of light. The shadow continued to shake. In a corner of the wall, the volumes of "Three Kingdoms" are neatly piled up like a mountain.Chen Shou sighed wearily: "It took me more than ten years to live up to the expectations of the court and finish writing the history from the end of Han Dynasty to the beginning of Jin Dynasty. Now I can finally do something I like."

As he spoke, he turned his eyes from "Three Kingdoms" to another pile of broken bamboo slips and silk. They were piled up so randomly, exuding a rotten smell. There are many words written on it, the handwriting is different, and it can be seen that they are written by different people. There is still a smear of dark brown blood between some words, and there are several shocking sword marks on some bamboo slips. Chen Shou closed his eyes and listened quietly.Countless deep voices linger from the pile of old papers, they are whispering and telling. As if driven by those dead souls, Chen Shou raised the brush in his hand, and slowly tapped on a piece of blank bamboo slips, outlining a series of neat and clear characters.

This is not history, this is just a story, a story that has been forgotten for decades, nearly a thousand years, and is about to decay into ashes. The water of time flows back to Jian'an for four years.
