Chapter 5 Chapter 5 Ambitious, General Pang became famous in the first battle

When Jishui flows eastward to Tangyi, about 30 miles southwest of Huangchi, it turns north by east, and then turns east again about ten miles northwest of Huangchi. .The water is shallow and the current is slow. If there is no heavy rain, the river will not be waist deep. Even in the central channel, it will at most overflow the top of the head. This kind of river is suitable for fording, which is what Qi Jiang Tian Ji took a fancy to.Soldiers of the Qi army built camps and tents on the beaches on both sides of the embankment, and dug a long row of stoves on the top of the embankment. When it's time to eat, the smoke from the kitchen rises every time, stretching for more than ten miles, which is quite spectacular.

The Qi army had won consecutive battles and was about to approach Daliang. King Qi Wei was very excited, and the special envoy Prince Pijiang went to the labor army.Pijiang and his party escorted the luggage to Jishui. Tian Ji heard the news and went to meet him for ten miles to welcome him into the tent of the Chinese army. The two talked in the tent for less than half an hour, and Pijiang couldn't wait to inspect the military camp and watch Jishui. The red sun is scorching, and the armor and helmet are shining.Seeing His Highness approaching, all the soldiers of the three armies held their guns and held their halberds, standing majesticly under the sun, looking very dignified at a glance.Pijiang, dressed in military uniform, walks side by side with General Tian Ji.The two checked along the river, and then slowly boarded the high observation platform built on the top of the embankment.

Climbing to the top of the platform, looking around, there are Qi army camps on the embankment and under the embankment, densely packed and well-arranged.On the river a little further away, there are patches of sandy beaches, clusters of aquatic plants, and occasional egrets flying down by the water. The river beach on the opposite bank was empty, without a single soldier, nor any camps or barriers.Further up is the river embankment, besides the thorns, there are continuous locust trees on the embankment. Pi Jiang watched for a while, then pointed to the empty beachhead: "General Tian, why is there no one guarding the other side?"

Tian Ji smiled and pointed to the river bank in the distance: "Your Highness, please look over there." Following Tian Ji's fingers, Pi Jiang could see the defensive formation of Wei soldiers looming in the woods, and there seemed to be rows of mechanical crossbows on the top of the embankment. It wasn't for the general's reminder, Pijiang really couldn't see it!" "Your Highness, you don't need to be humble. The Wei army has been defeated repeatedly, and they dare not use force, so they hide their forces in the dark, making it hard for me to know the truth. Your Highness has just arrived here, so naturally I don't know about these situations."

"The general knows himself and the enemy, and the chances of victory are in his hands. May I ask the general, when can we fight the Wei army?" Tian Ji pointed to the river water: "My ministers sent people to explore it. Although the central river channel is only about a few feet wide, the river water can overflow the top of the head. If thousands of troops rush to cross at the same time, the current will rise. There are many soldiers who are different. You can swim, even if you can swim, you may not be able to hold on because you have armor and weapons on your body." Pijiang pondered for a while, raised his head and said: "If it takes a long time, don't talk about anything else, just food and grass, I'm afraid I can't afford it."

"Your Highness, don't worry." Tian Ji was confident, "I watched the sky at night, and there has been no rain in the Wei area recently. The heat is unbearable, the summer drought has been long, the river is getting shallower every day, and the water level has dropped by about a foot in ten days. If it didn't happen as I expected, within five days, the water level would drop by another foot. At that time when crossing the river, don't say that Long Jia was seriously injured, even if he was in good health, I would arrest him under the horse. " "Well," Pi Jiang nodded and said, "It's so good! Wei's soldiers are brave and good at fighting, and they are invincible. If the king of Wei hadn't lost his virtue to the world, and Qin, Zhao, and Han were besieged, the father would not have turned against Wei. General Tian, the outcome of this battle is no small matter, father and king can't sleep at night because of this!"

"My minister asked His Royal Highness to play His Majesty, and said that within ten days, I will break the Wei formation and drive directly to Daliang. Within three months, I will detain Wei Yu and return to the court triumphantly, and His Majesty will ask the crime!" Pi Jiang was about to speak, when suddenly he saw a rider flying from the embankment on the opposite side, heading straight for the river, he turned his head and stared at the man intently. Tian Ji and all the generals also saw it, and all their eyes shot over.Come and ride close, and everyone can see clearly that it is the Wei Jun's messenger officer. The fast horse rushed to the river, hesitated a little at the water's edge, and rode the horse into the river.Everyone was wondering and wondering, the visitor had come to the heart of the river.Seeing that the river was overflowing to the horse's head, the lieutenant suddenly reined in the horse's head and shouted towards the bank: "General Qi is watching, General Pang, the pioneer of the Great Wei Dynasty, is going to fight!" He took out his longbow, put on a loud arrow, and shot it with a "swish".

The arrow fell to the shore with a whistling sound.A soldier picked up the arrow and handed it to the lieutenant who rushed to hear the news. Before the lieutenant could take a closer look, he flew straight to the high platform and said loudly: "Report, Wei Jun's vanguard battle letter!" Wei Jun still dared to write a challenge even though he was defeated, and just when His Royal Highness was working hard, Tian Ji's heart sank, and the corner of his eyes glanced at the general standing beside him.The general stepped down steadily, took the arrow from the lieutenant, returned to the stage, and presented Tian Ji with both hands.

Tian Ji took the arrow, pulled out the whistle on the arrow, and took out a ball of silk from it. It turned out to be a letter of war, on which was written "General Tian Ji's personal seal". When he unfolded it, it read: 〖It is rumored that the great general won all battles and is famous all over the world. I am amazed and sigh. Those who are surprised below, such a mediocre general, how can he be famous all over the world? What I lament below, the saying of a great general who survives a hundred battles will end on the bank of Jishui today!I am amazed and sighed at this, and I advise the general that if you stop the troops and return to Qi within three days, accept the form and plead guilty, the general will not only preserve his reputation for the rest of his life, but the clean water will also be free from blood stains; To decide who is superior, set up an array of 30,000 troops in three days and wait!As long as the general recognizes our formation, I will immediately bow my head and ask for surrender; if the general does not know, I will speak first, and if the general makes any mistakes, don't blame me for offending!Where do you go, please, the general, cut yourself off, and wait for your reply!

Presented by Pang Juan, the pioneer of the three armies of the Great Wei Dynasty〗 After Tian Ji finished reading, his face turned from white to blue, from blue to purple, and his fists were clenched. Pi Jiang looked at him in amazement and said, "General Tian?" Tian Ji handed the letter of war to Pijiang casually. Pijiang saw it, and his heart was shocked: "Pang Juan? How did this person become the vanguard of the Wei army?" Turning to Tian Ji, he smiled wryly, "It seems that General Tian has met his opponent this time." "Opponent?" Tian Ji sneered, his fists clenched and his voice was almost squeezed out between his teeth, "Tian Ji's opponent hasn't been born yet!" After a short pause, "Hmph, Vanguard is also worthy of the challenge! Your Highness is optimistic." , three days later, I will definitely break through the enemy's formation, capture this guy named Pang alive, and tear his body to pieces!"

But Pijiang didn't seem to hear it, his eyes still fell on Pang Juan's letter of war, half talking to himself, half asking: "It's strange, this person declined the title of Shangqing and the reward of a hundred gold from his father, but here What is the purpose of acting as a small vanguard?" Tian Ji snorted from his nostrils, and turned to the general beside him: "Respond to Pang Juan, depending on the formation he puts on, after three days, ask him to stretch his neck and stand in front of the formation, waiting for this general to behead him!" "The end will be ordered!" In Huangchi City, in a large mansion near the northwest side, hundreds of wounded military soldiers were lying or sitting, and more than a dozen military medical doctors were constantly helping them. Among them were hundreds of volunteer nurses and women. soldier. Two corpse collectors stood guard at the door, and as soon as the disease doctor judged that a soldier died, they would immediately activate and carry the dead out of the yard. This is a place full of pain and sorrow, but no one cries for pain, and no moans are heard. All the soldiers of Wei Dynasty were bloody men, not to mention there were women present. Several people hurried into the courtyard, the leader of the armed forces was Pang Juan, followed by the generals of the Chinese army and their personal guards. Seeing the general's arrival, there was no response from the entire courtyard, as if they were a group of unexpected guests.Pang Juan knew that the Wei army had been defeated repeatedly, and there was a lot of resentment in the hearts of the soldiers, especially those soldiers who were injured because of the general's incompetence. The general of the Chinese army was in a hurry, took a step forward, and shouted loudly: "Soldiers and soldiers, General Pang Juan, the vanguard of the three armies appointed by His Majesty, is here to visit you!" Hearing the words "handpicked by His Majesty", the expressions of the wounded became even more indifferent. Some people tilted their heads and let out a heavy "Bah", turning their faces to the other side.Only a nearby disease doctor who was treating the wounded got up to salute, but Pang Juan waved his hand to stop him. Pang Juan did not become angry like other generals, nor did he show any arrogance or anger. Instead, he looked calm, kind, and caring in his eyes.He didn't say a word, just swept his amiable eyes over all the wounded one by one, and then walked slowly in the aisle between the wounded. Pang Juan's calm and concerned eyes began to pay off. Everyone's eyes were directed at him, and even the soldier who turned away turned his head to see what he was going to do. Pang Juan saw an elderly woman sitting on the ground, holding a motionless soldier in her arms, and walked towards her.Several young women knelt beside the old woman, all of them looked sad, their eyes were closed, and they muttered prayers, obviously saying goodbye to the soldier who was about to go away. Pang Juan came to the front, walked quietly to the side, faced the soldiers, knelt behind several women, closed his eyes, muttered words, and prayed for him.The general and the accompanying guards glanced at each other, then knelt down after each other. Tears flowed from the eyes of the elderly woman holding the soldier, and she murmured in the dead man's ear, "Son, open your eyes and see, the vanguard general is here to see you off." The woman yelled several times, but the soldier didn't seem to hear him, and remained motionless.A disease doctor hurried over and swabbed the soldier's nostrils with his fingers. Seeing that he was already out of breath, he took out a white cloth from his sleeve and covered his face.Afterwards, the disease doctor waved his hands back, and the two old men guarding the door immediately came over with a door panel, picked up the soldier from the woman's arms, and gently placed it on the door panel.Pang Juan got up slowly, bowed three times to the soldiers on the door panel, and watched him being carried out of the yard step by step. Pang Juan turned around and walked along the aisle again. After walking more than ten steps, Pang Juan saw a doctor nearby who was squeezing pus for a soldier, so he walked up to him.The soldier's right leg was wounded with pus, and the pus was swollen like a white steamed bun.Pang Juan stood aside, watching the disease doctor squeeze the pus out one after another, the milky yellow pus was squeezed out little by little, and dripped into the clay basin on the ground. The soldier gritted his teeth tightly, closed his eyes, and sweated on his forehead, as if he was enduring the severe pain in his heart. After a quarter of an hour, the two pustules had been squeezed, and the doctor looked at the wound, as if thinking about how to get out the remaining pus. Without saying a word, Pang Juan immediately bent down, put on a posture, and under the amazed eyes of everyone, pointed at the wound and sucked hard.Legend has it that in the past Wu Qi sucked gangrene and pus, but no one had the chance to see it in person. On this day, Pang Juan kneeled and prayed for the dead and sucked pus for the wounded, but this was an indisputable fact that everyone present saw. All the people were shocked, all hearts were excited, and all eyes were moist and hot.The soldiers who were sucked by him even burst into tears, sobbing uncontrollably. Pang Juan took a breath, spit out the pus into the basin, took another breath, and spit it into the basin again.Repeatedly, until there was no more pus in the wound, Pang Juan stopped talking.Someone brought clean water a long time ago, Pang Juan drank a few sips to rinse, patted the soldier's shoulder twice, laughed twice, and half-jokingly said the first sentence he came here: "Young man, what are you doing here?" The pus is fishy and smelly, and the taste is not good!" Ignoring the severe pain in the wound, the soldier turned over and knelt on the ground, crying loudly: "General Pang—" Pang Juan pulled him up, helped him to lie down, and scolded him with a straight face, "Look at how promising you are! A man lives in this world, he only bleeds, not tears!" After saying that, he walked out of the camp without looking back. In the big tent of the Qi army, Tian Ji was alone with a few cases, closed his eyes and meditated. For more than ten years, Tian Ji fought in the south and in the north, and became famous all over the country. He defeated Chu general Zhaoyang, Zhao Xiangfengyangjun and Han Xiangshen Buhai, but he did not fight against the soldiers of Wei.Tian Ji wholeheartedly wanted to face off against the military pawns of the Great Wei, known as the world's number one iron army, but the emperor avoided him everywhere and never gave him a chance.Three years ago Wei Huihou proclaimed the king to attack the guard, and Tian Ji was ordered to help the guard. It was a good opportunity to fight, but the emperor let him stand still, and finally gave up the chance of the first defeat to the Qin people.Fortunately, heaven has eyes, Qi and Wei fell out when they were kings in Xuzhou, King Wei was angry and attacked Wei, and finally made his long-cherished wish come true. After entering the Wei Dynasty, Tian Ji showed great power, defeating the young master An three times, and defeating the Long Jia severely, making the invincible Wei soldier become a remnant and defeated general in just one month.Right now the Wei people were powerless to fight back, no matter from which point of view, he, Tian Ji, was sure to win, with just one order, 70,000 troops could step across Jishui and directly attack the beam. However, Tian Ji has always been known for his prudence in using troops. As the saying goes, don't force mourning soldiers, and don't chase poor bandits.Tian Ji wanted to wipe out Long Jia in one fell swoop, but also wanted to minimize his own losses, so he did not order to cross the river for a long time.In Tian Ji's eyes, the 30,000 soldiers of Longjia on the other side were nothing more than cooked ducks, and it was the same whether they were eaten early or late, which was why Tian Ji was not in a hurry. Long Jia is seriously injured, and the Wei army has become a mourning soldier. For the people of Wei, the best strategy for the present is to abandon Jishui and Huangchi, and protect the beams to the death. Who would have thought that instead of retreating, the people of Wei would write a letter to challenge him, and even ask him to fight on the river beach, It really surprised him. What surprised him even more was this Pang Juan.Knowing the enemy is better than knowing the general.Tian Ji had already had a plan in mind for Gongzi Ang, Long Jia, Zhang Meng and others, but he knew nothing about this Pang Juan who came out of the sky, except for the rumors he heard in Linzi that this person flipped his hands like clouds and rained his hands. . It is taboo to use troops without knowing your opponent on the eve of a war.The more Tian Ji thought about it, the more he thought about it, he got up suddenly, walked quickly to the side of the large tent, and shot his eyes at the military sand table like torches. The sand table was temporarily piled up by the military advisers and generals according to the nearby terrain. At a glance, Tian Ji saw the hilly terrain on both sides of the Jishui River, and bamboo sticks were inserted in the prominent areas. The bamboo sticks were marked with the types of troops, the number and the names of the generals of the two sides stationed here. After crossing Jishui, Huangchi is less than ten miles away, and Huangchi is only more than two hundred miles away from Daliang. If there is no obstacle, it can be reached by marching in a few days. Tian Ji stared at the sand table in thought for a long time, a sneer appeared on the corner of his mouth. No matter how capable this pioneer named Pang Juan is, it sounds like a joke if you challenge the 70,000-strong Tiejun with a defeated army of 30,000, and all you can rely on is a Jishui that can be crossed. But very different from flamboyant people like Gongzi An, Tian Ji will always be Tian Ji.Even though it was almost a joke, Tian Ji did not dare to be careless. He knew that the situation on the battlefield was changing rapidly, and any possibility would happen. The situation has turned one-sided, but Wei Jun dared to take the initiative to challenge. Either the general is crazy, or there is a hidden conspiracy. Thinking of the word conspiracy, Tian Ji shivered suddenly, and the sneer on the corner of his mouth also quietly disappeared, replaced by two thick eyebrows that gradually wrinkled and tightened. Yes, there must be a conspiracy. The Wei army was defeated repeatedly, and the remaining number was less than 40,000. Excluding the disabled, there were at most 30,000 capable soldiers.Pang Juan was only a vanguard of the Wei people, but he dared to declare in the letter of war that he would form an army of 30,000 troops to meet the enemy. There are only two possibilities for this detail, either the king of Wei increased his troops by 30,000, or the chief general Long Jia was willing to hand over the three armies to Pang Juan. Thinking of this, Tian Ji's heart moved, and he shouted loudly: "Come here!" The general heard the sound and walked in: "The end is here!" "Send another spy to cross the river in disguise, to find out about Pang Juan's details, and secondly, to find out whether the king of Wei is reinforcing Huangchi." "The end will be ordered!" The general was about to get out of the tent, Tian Ji said again: "Also, raise the high platform on the embankment by three feet, and erect another hanging pole." The general responded again and withdrew from the big account. Pang Juan looked at the wounded soldiers, and went to inspect important areas again. Just as he was about to pay back the money, the deputy general Zhang Meng sent someone to preach: "General Pang, the general has an invitation!" Pang Juan hurriedly followed the people to the Longjia army tent, knelt down in front of the couch: "Pang Juan, the vanguard, sees the general!" Long Jia's injury obviously worsened. He panted for a while, covered his chest with his hand, and nodded with difficulty: "General Pang, please forgive me." His eyes turned to Zhang Meng, "Zhang Meng." "The end is here!" "Take the seal of the general." Zhang Meng took the seal of the great general, held it in his arms, and looked at Long Jia.Long Jia took the big seal, took out the tiger talisman from under the pillow, held it together in his hands, and looked at Pang Juan: "General Pang, please accept the talisman and the seal!" It is the practice of various countries to use tiger charms to deploy troops. The Tiger Talisman is divided into two halves, one half is given to the general, and the other half is in the hands of the monarch. When the monarch dispatches troops, he sends a special envoy to the barracks to check with the general. Only when the two pieces of tiger charms are combined into one can the general send troops. Therefore, the tiger charm is a symbol of the general's power. As for the general's golden seal, it is an important certificate for controlling and dispatching subordinates. The tiger talisman is on the top, and the golden seal is on the bottom. No matter who has the talisman, he can command the three armies.Long Jia handed over all the talismans to Pang Juan, which was equivalent to completely transferring the general's authority. This was unexpected by Pang Juan. After all, he had just arrived at the barracks, and he hadn't built an inch of merit yet. After being stunned for a while, Pang Juan bowed his head and said, "Old General Long, the last general... this... this matter must not be done!" There was another sharp pain in the wound, Long Jia held back, held the talisman, and said with difficulty: "General Pang died on his knees and sucked gangrene, this old man... Fru. Your Majesty has the eyes to recognize talents, and the three armies will get good generals again, old man Die... die in peace... die in peace!" Pang Juan hesitated and said, "General Long—" Long Jia's breathing became more and more difficult, and he seemed to have exhausted all his strength: "The country is at the critical moment of survival, General Pang cannot refuse, this old man will go to... Your Majesty... Your Majesty, please... recommend General Pang... Command three... three..." Before finishing the word "army", Long Jia suddenly convulsed, and the tiger amulet and seal slipped onto the couch. Zhang Meng was shocked, and took a quick step to support him: "Old General Long! Old General Long——" Long Jia never answered again.Pang Juan wiped his nose with his hand, knowing that the old general had gone, he let out a mournful voice: "General Long—" Heaven and earth mourned silently, and the horns mourned. The generals of the three armies rushed to the big tent one after another when they learned that General Long was gone.Zhang Meng announced the death of General Long in public, and presented the general's seal to Pang Juan with both hands. Pang Juan thought for a while, then declined again, and the generals begged on their knees. In view of the current enemy, Pang Juan promised to act as the general temporarily, but resolutely entrusted the seal and talisman to the deputy general Zhang Meng for safekeeping, and still used the name of the vanguard to express the story of Long Jia's sacrifice for the country to the king of Wei, with very respectful words. The generals saw it and respected Pang Juan even more. At the same time, Zhang Meng, in the name of the lieutenant general of the three armies, also made a separate announcement about Long Jia's will and Pang Juan's kneeling death and inhalation of gangrene. At noon the next day, King Wei Hui's imperial edict arrived urgently, formally appointing Pang Juan as a general to lead the three armies. Pang Juan worshiped the imperial edict, took over the talisman from Zhang Meng, moved to the tent of the Central Army, removed the banner of "General Dragon" and replaced it with "General Pang", and ordered the generals to listen to orders in front of the tent. The story of Pang Juan kneeling to death and sucking gangrene spread like wildfire in the barracks. Pang Juan's six words of "only bleed, not tears" made the blood of the soldiers of the Wei Dynasty even more bloody, and they all rushed to their respective generals' tents with blood books in their hands to ask for a battle. .After receiving the order, the generals of the three armies walked into the big tent with bundles of blood books in their hands. When they saw Pang Juan, they knelt down without saying a word, each holding the blood books above their heads. Pang Juan walked up to the generals, put away the blood books one by one, and put them on several cases, then pulled up the generals one by one, and said in a loud voice: "Pang Juan thank you all, thanks to the soldiers of the three armies! Starting today, Pang Juan is willing to work together with you, Lying on the same bed, eating on the same table, riding or not riding, fighting without heels!" As soon as Pang Juan's words fell, Zhang Meng walked up to the generals, stood still at the top, stepped forward and said, "The last general, Zhang Meng, begs for a fight, please give the order!" All the generals took a step forward and shouted in unison: "The last general wants to fight, please give the order!" Knowing that the time is right, Pang Juan glanced at all the generals one by one, and said in a loud voice, "Everyone!" All the generals shouted together: "The end is here!" Pang Juan glanced at the generals again: "Qin, Qi, Han and Zhao four countries invaded me, tens of thousands of soldiers died for the country, Qi and the bandits stared at them, and His Majesty is very worried. There is only one way in front of us: defend the family and defend the country, and defeat the enemy bandits!" The generals shouted again: "I will follow the general to the death, defend my family and the country, and defeat Qi Kou!" "Okay!" Pang Juan said loudly, "The 70,000 Qi Kou are on the other side of the Jishui River. The time to fulfill your promise is at hand. All generals obey orders!" All the generals were excited, and then roared: "The end is here!" Pang Juan swept his eyes over everyone again, and slowly landed on a general in the middle: "General Li, have you prepared all the things you were supposed to prepare?" General Li took a step forward and said loudly: "If you go back to the general, all 10,000 sacks will be vacated. Please give the general an order on how to deal with it!" "Okay!" Pang Juan took out a command arrow, "You lead two thousand soldiers, transport all the sacks to Tangyi, and fill the narrow part of the upper reaches of Tangyi with sand to intercept the flow. At the time of the day after the day, you can see the white mist rising from the downstream and the beacon smoke rising. , the dam will be released immediately. The leaker will die!" General Li said loudly: "The last general has orders!" He picked up the order arrow and strode out. As soon as Pang Juan looked over, another general on the left of General Li had already stepped forward: "Report, the last general has prepared twenty carts of lime and one thousand wooden shovels. Please give the general an order on how to deal with it!" Pang Juan took another command arrow from several cases: "You take a thousand soldiers, grind the lime into fine powder, each hold a wooden shovel, and go to the locust forest behind the river embankment to ambush at the day of the Empress Day, and anyone who leaks the secret will die!" The general responded with a sound, took the command arrow, turned around and walked out. Pang Juan's eyes fell on the general on the left: "General Feng!" General Feng stepped forward in response: "The end is here!" "You take a hundred sergeants, pretend to be Cangtou, and stop Jishui ten miles downstream from Tangyi!" General Feng looked at Pang Juan in confusion: "Block the river again?" "Yes, stop the Ji water again!" Pang Juan also handed him a command arrow, "Recruit the people nearby, and say that they will stop the water there to irrigate the fields. But beat the gongs and drums, the more lively the scene, the better!" General Feng thought about it for a moment, he seemed to be suddenly enlightened, and replied loudly: "The last general has orders!" He took the order arrow and strode out. Pang Juan's eyes slowly turned to Fan Shao, who was standing on the farthest side: "General Fan!" Fan Shao hurriedly took a step forward: "The end...the end is here!" "Have you got everything ready?" Fan Shao hesitated for a moment, then blushed and said: "If you go back to the general, the last general has... already prepared... a thousand barrels of shit, if... how to deal with... please, general... …Down……" Fan Shao was originally stuttering, but this task made him unable to hold his head up even more, so his stuttering became even more cute. The generals couldn't help but want to laugh, and couldn't help it, and there were many strange scenes.Fan Shao's face turned red from holding back, so he had no choice but to lower his head. Pang Juan coughed, picked up a command arrow and handed it to him: "Very good! General Fan, you take a thousand warriors, each holding a ladle, seal the mouth of the excrement bucket, and lie down on the river bank at the time of the day after the day In the thorn bushes outside, waiting for orders!" Fan Shao was in a hurry, raised his head and shouted: "General... General, I beg... General... I beseech you, General, to accept... Take back your order, General Ning... I would rather go... to fight... to kill... the enemy, not... I don't want to spread... spread this stink... stink..." Fan Shao couldn't smell anymore, the generals couldn't help it anymore, they burst into laughter in unison. Pang Juan also laughed, and looked at Fan Shao: "General Fan, if you don't do it, a great achievement will belong to others." Fan Shao was stunned for a moment, and stared at Pang Juan with wide eyes: "What...what...what great achievement?" "Capture Tian Ji alive!" Fan Shao was both surprised and delighted: "Mo... Mo... Mo will get... got the order!" He hurriedly picked up the arrow of the order, turned around and left the tent with great joy. Seeing Fan Shao walking away, Pang Juan glanced at General Yu and said loudly, "Generals!" All the generals roared in unison: "The end is here!" Pang Juan slowly stood up from the front of the case: "Everyone take the troops of the headquarters, and at tomorrow's hour, follow the general to go to the back of the river embankment to set up a military formation. The flag is used as an order. The flag enters and the flag retreats. cut!" All the generals said together: "The last general has orders!" On the north bank of Jishui, people have returned one after another after going out to inquire about the truth.Tian Ji asked in detail, and learned that King Wei Hui offered rewards to recruit talents, Pang Juan applied for the job and was named a vanguard of the three armies by King Wei Hui, and also learned that although King Wei Hui worshiped Pang Juan as a vanguard, he did not assign him a soldier , Pang Juan rushed to Huangchi alone. Tian Ji waved his hand to let Xizuo back out, thought for a while, and said to Pijiang: "Your Highness, according to Weichen's guess, there is only one explanation for Wei Wang's move, that is, he doesn't trust Pang Juan yet." Before Prince Pijiang could speak, he joined the army and brought in another spy, which quickly confirmed Tian Ji's guess: "Report, Daliang and the surrounding cities have been on guard since yesterday, all gates are closed, and no one else is allowed to enter or leave. The king of Wei, wearing a battle robe, went to the city to inspect in person." After Xizuo withdrew, Pijiang looked up at Tian Ji, his eyes full of suspicion: "This... If King Wei doesn't trust Pang Juan, how can Pang Juan have an army of 30,000?" Tian Ji smiled slightly: "Returning to Your Highness, this humble official has thought about it too. This humble official thought that Long Jia must be seriously injured, and he was ordered to temporarily hand over the power of the three armies to Pang Juan." Pi Jiang still frowned: "This battle is about the survival of the Wei State. General Long has been on the battlefield for a long time. How can he entrust the three armies to others?" Tian Ji responded: "Long Jia is seriously injured and unable to command the three armies at all. The battle is imminent, the army must have a general, and among the Wei army, Long Jia really can't find a suitable general for a while, so it is right to entrust Pang Juan." After a pause, "Besides, Pang Juan is the vanguard ordered by the king of Wei. In case of defeat, Long Jia also has an excuse." "Yes," Pi Jiang nodded slightly, "What the General said is in line with common sense, and Pi Jiang agrees. Since this is the case, does the General have any countermeasures?" Just as Tian Ji was about to reply, there was a sound of horseshoes, and he came back again and said: "Report, Long Jia, the general of the Wei army, died yesterday, and the king of Wei appointed Pang Juan as the general." Tian Ji was startled, glanced at Pijiang, waved his hand and said, "Got it!" As soon as Xi Zuo retreated, the lieutenant in charge of monitoring the river rushed over and reported, "Report, Jishui hastened to retreat about a foot!" It is obviously an abnormality for Ji Shui to retreat about a foot in a day. Tian Ji frowned anxiously, and said to Pi Jiang: "Go, have a look!" Everyone rushed to the river, and saw that the water level had dropped a lot, and the water level mark on the pole dropped by a full foot, which was equal to the sum of the drops in the past ten days. Tian Ji looked up at the sky, but there was not even a cloud, and the sun was shining hotly on his head. Pijiang turned to the officer who measured the water: "How long has it been since it rained?" "If you return to His Highness, it will take more than a month." It is a time of turmoil, and there is no drop of water for more than a month, and it is possible that the river will drop suddenly.Pi Jiang nodded, looked up at Tian Ji, but saw Tian Ji frowned, staring straight at the river, very surprised: "General Tian?" Tian Ji pointed to the river water: "Please look, Your Highness, the water is muddy." Pi Jiang took a closer look and found that the river was indeed muddy, so he asked in puzzlement, "What's so strange about whether the river is muddy or not?" "Returning to Your Highness," Tian Ji responded, "The river retreated rapidly and suddenly became muddy. There is only one explanation. Someone is building a dam upstream, trying to intercept the flow and drown me." "Oh?" Pijiang was shocked, "If this is the case, how should I deal with it?" "Your Highness, don't worry." Tian Ji smiled sneeringly, "The water is covered with earth, even if the Wei people build a dam, I will have a countermeasure." Turning his head to the general who was following him, "Quickly let people go up the water and have a look. Did someone build a dam." The ginseng general agreed and left in a hurry. In less than half a day, Tan Ma reported back: "Report, it turns out that there are Wei people beating gongs and drums 20 miles upstream to block the river and build dams." Tian Ji asked about the location of the dam in detail, and he said angrily, "Who are they?" Tan Ma responded: "They are all gray heads. I heard from them that the crops in the field are going to dry up, and the village chief asked them to build a dam there, saying that they would divert water to irrigate the field." "Explore again!" Tanma responded, and exited the account. Pi Jiang frowned and said: "General Tian, the Wei people are building a dam on this juncture, no matter whether it is dark or not, we should be careful." Tian Ji smiled and said, "Your Highness, don't worry. If the people of Wei blocked the river and flooded me, they would not be so blatant, and they would not let Cangtou get their hands on it. Besides, even if they build a dam to flood me, they can't choose that place. I will go there personally." I have seen that the river is wide and the water is deep. With the strength of the people nearby, it will take not to mention three to five days, even ten days. It will not take half a day for our three armies to cross the river. Seeing that what he said was reasonable, Pi Jiang nodded and said, "Yes, that's very good. There are people from Wei blocking the flow of the water, so it's better to cross." While talking, there was a lot of noise on the other side of the Jishui River, and after a while, the general reported: "Report, the Wei army is dispatching troops and generals behind the embankment on the other side of the Jishui River, as if they are rehearsing a formation!" Tian Ji loved to watch the battle, and rushed to the high platform on the top of the embankment after hearing the news.According to Tian Ji's order, the high platform was built again, not to mention three feet higher than the previous few days, and a two-foot-high wooden pole was erected on the top of the platform, with a pulley on the top of the pole.Tian Ji climbed to the top of the platform and sat in the hanging basket. Several soldiers below pulled the rope, and the pulley swished the hanging basket to the top of the pole. Tian Ji seemed to be sitting in mid-air. Tian Ji's eyesight was good, but he was looking far away, and in a short while, he had a panoramic view of the situation on the other side.Behind the embankment, one can see flags fluttering, and countless soldiers and horses rushing back and forth, as if they were shuttled.Tian Ji watched for half an hour, and finally figured out a little bit of clues, and concluded that the Wei people set up a Yanxiang formation. The Yanxiang formation is like wild geese flying in a herringbone shape, with arrows, crossbows, and javelins as the main weapons, suitable for defense on plains and slopes.Tian Ji watched for a while and saw that the formation on the other side had not changed, so he smiled slightly and motioned to get down from the tower. On the second day, just after dawn, people shouted and neighed again on the other side.Tian Ji entered the hanging basket again, and saw that the opponent had changed his formation, this time he was playing a crescent moon formation. As the name suggests, the meniscus formation is shaped like a crescent moon, and the troops are arranged in an arc, which is symmetrical on both sides. The thick moon wheel in the middle is good for defense, and the sharp crescents on both sides are good for flank attack. This formation is a step further than the Yanxiang formation, when there is defense while attacking, and offense while defending.Tian Ji watched for another half an hour, seeing that the opponent's formation had not changed, he waved his hand again and got off the tower. Back in the big tent, Pijiang greeted him out of the tent and asked, "What formation did Pang Juan play?" Tian Ji replied: "Looking at the formation, it's normal. Yesterday it was the flying geese formation, but today it's changed to the crescent moon formation." Pi Jiang knew a little bit about formations, and when he saw Tian Ji declaring the names of such formations, he immediately felt relieved, but said: "Since Pang Juan dared to write a letter to fight formations, he must have some means, the general should be careful." Tian Ji smiled and said: "Your Highness, I don't know that marching troops is not a child's play. What is needed is combined efforts and real skills. It cannot be accomplished in three to five days. The Wei soldiers were defeated several times in a row. The general's organization was chaotic and lacked If there are more than half of the troops, if you want to form an army, you have to put together. No matter what kind of formation, if you just put together, you will be a mob. Besides, when Pang Juan first arrived in the barracks, he gave orders without making any achievements. ?” Seeing that Tian Ji's words were reasonable, Pi Jiang was more at ease, and walked into the big tent talking and laughing with Tian Ji to discuss how to defeat the enemy. In the morning of the next day, there was no cloud in the sky, and the southeast wind gusts on the river beach, which made people feel refreshed.Because of the fierce battle, most of the soldiers stayed up all night, put on their armor before dawn, gathered at the riverside, geared up, and prepared to cross Jishui and make achievements. Tian Ji asked people to explore Jishui again, and reported that the river was a foot shallower than yesterday, and the deepest point was only up to the navel. Not to mention people, even chariots could pass by at high speed. Tian Ji frowned slightly, and immediately let go.With such water potential, it would take less than half an hour for the three armies to cross the river.Even if the water is released upstream, it will be too late to flow here.As long as the three armies cross the river, victory is a sure thing, so Tian Ji didn't consider using ingenious techniques such as outflanking and sneak attack. Although the sky was bright, it was still too early for Pang Juan to break the formation.Tian Ji thought for a while, and for the sake of safety, he and Pijiang walked to the high platform on the top of the embankment again. Tian Ji boarded the watchtower and sat in the hanging basket like yesterday. In the morning light, Tian Ji looked from a distance, and saw that Wei Jun had already lined up along the beach of Jishui for a while.Tian Ji inspected it carefully for a while, and found that this formation is different from yesterday's formation, it looks like a tiger with wings stretched out, the tiger's head is stretched out on the beach, and the tiger's tail is placed behind the embankment, it seems to be still swaying slightly. Tian Ji observed for a while, then slowly descended from the tower, Pi Jiang went up to meet him and asked urgently, "General Tian, what formation is the Wei army in?" "Reporting to Your Highness," Tian Ji responded, "Today it has been changed to the Tiger Wing Formation. This formation is an ancient formation. It is said that it was laid out by Emperor Xuanyuan during his battle against Chi You. Not many people in the world know about it. This guy formed three formations in three days. There are still ways.” "Oh?" Pijiang said in shock, "Since that's the case, why break it?" Tian Ji smiled and said: "Your Highness, don't worry, these are all ostentatious. Since I know this formation, I can solve it myself." Turning to join the army, "The order is passed, the three armies will become dragons and form the formation, the dragon's mouth will meet the tiger's head, and listen to the sound of drums to cross!" The general agreed and turned around to deliver the order. After a while, Qi's 40,000 troops and thousands of chariots lined up on the beach of Jishui in a dragon formation. Seeing that Mao's time had come, Tian Ji cupped his fists to bid farewell to Pijiang and said, "The humble officials broke through the formation first, and after capturing Pang Juan and capturing Huangchi, come to meet His Highness again!" Pijiang returned the salute and said, "I wish the general great success!" Tian Ji jumped onto the chariot, drew his sword, and swung it forward. Immediately, the drums on the north bank of Jishui burst into loud drums, and 40,000 troops waded into the water in a formation of dragons on the river several miles wide. For a time, there were thousands of troops and horses in the Jishui River, the waves splashed, and the momentum was magnificent. Seeing that the Qi army was about to cross the river, Wei Ying's army did not advance towards the beach, but retreated 300 steps from the beach.Tian Ji was wondering to himself, when the military lieutenant who sent the battle letter before galloped to the shore again, and shouted at Tian Ji: "Listen, people of Qi, the general has an order, the soldiers of the Wei Dynasty are the teachers of benevolence and righteousness, do not attack the half crossing Journey, you can cross with peace of mind, and wait for the final battle after the formation is completed!" This is blatant contempt for the alignment people. Tian Ji was furious, he rode his horse to urge the chariot, and rushed to the opposite bank first. The generals saw that everyone was fighting bravely, everyone was vying to be the first, and within a moment, the vanguard had crossed the Jishui River, and was still lined up on the beach according to the Longteng formation, with the dragon's mouth facing the tiger's head of the Wei formation. Wei Jun retreated a hundred steps again to make more beachheads for the Qi people. After Qi's three armies crossed, the formation was formed, and both sides began to beat drums at the same time. As soon as the drum was played, the generals of the two armies drove their chariots to the front of the formation according to the practice of saluting first and then soldiers, and stopped at an arrow's distance. "The humble minister leads the decree!" "The end is here!" “大将军力挽狂澜,力退强敌,功盖日月,赏黄金五百,锦缎百匹,奴仆五十名!” "Thank you, Your Majesty Ron!"
