Chapter 52 Chapter Fifty-Second: Qu Wentai Insisted on Retaining His Younger Brothers, All the Bandits Robbed Ships for the Gods

In Yiwu's palace, there was sudden commotion, saying that a demon had written a letter to the king of Yiwu, asking for Master Xuanzang. Although the king of Yiwu Kingdom is a king, he is also afraid of that guy, so he obediently offers it up.Later we learned that the person who came to snatch Xuanzang from King Yiwu was Qu Wentai, King of Gaochang Kingdom. When he heard that Xuanzang had arrived in Yiwu first, he was very annoyed, thinking that Xuanzang looked down on Gaochang, so he sent envoys to Yiwu to forcefully ask for it, and asked Xuanzang to give lectures in Gaochang first.Yiwu is a small country that is bullied all the time, Gaochang is one of the largest countries in the Western Regions, and what Qu Wentai wants is not out of reach.Qu Wentai was confident that he could invite Xuanzang, so he asked the envoys to bring dozens of good cars and high-ranking ministers from Gaochang to meet him.

In this way, Xuanzang was inexplicably snatched away. In the middle of the night, Xuanzang was transported to the capital of Gaochang by a hundred and ten people. Qu Wentai waited for too long, he was always confident, but this time he couldn't sleep, he was overjoyed to see Xuanzang finally came, and asked people to give lectures to him and the queen in the middle of the night.Rows of maids holding candles welcomed Xuanzang, and Qu Wentai personally invited Xuanzang to his room.Xuanzang, who didn't know what happened like a sleepwalker, was arranged by Qu Wentai in the treasure house. The jaw-dropping scene finally happened:

But Qu Wentai suddenly knelt down in front of Xuanzang, and said affectionately: "After hearing the name of the master, I was so excited that I couldn't sleep or eat all day long. I told the envoy not to rest, and estimated that the master will arrive tonight." , Therefore, my wife and children are not asleep, really, I am waiting outside now, waiting for the master to give us a lesson!" Qu Wentai invited the concubine, maids, and children to worship Xuanzang. After a set of etiquette, Qu Wentai found that Master Xuanzang remained unmoved.Qu Wentai was also a wise man. He asked Xuanzang, "Is there anything the Master wants to say?" Xuanzang said:

"The poor monk is really sleepy, can you go to bed first, and talk about things tomorrow?" Qu Wentai was enlightened, and left happily. The next morning, Xuanzang got up and opened the door as usual. As soon as the door was opened, people blocked the door.Yes, Comrade Qu Wentai led a group of people waiting outside for a long time (he probably didn't fall asleep), and invited him to give a lecture. After a set of etiquette, Qu Wentai discovered that Master Xuanzang remained unmoved.Qu Wentai was also a wise man. He asked Xuanzang, "Is there anything the Master wants to say?"

Xuanzang: "Can the poor monk take a look around first? (Especially want to go to the toilet.)" Xuanzang finished reading it soon, so he gave a lecture. For several days in a row, the people who listened to the Buddha did not feel tired at all.But Xuanzang really wanted to leave Gaochang as soon as possible. Every time he opened his mouth, he would be held back by Qu Wentai's grand etiquette. After more than ten days, Xuanzang made up his mind to quarrel with Qu Wentai, otherwise it would delay his plan to learn Buddhist scriptures from the West.On this day, he found Wen Tai and told him about his determination to go west.

Qu Wentai is a devout Buddhist, he must keep Xuanzang, "I used to travel all over China with Emperor Sui (Yang Guang), and I saw countless famous monks along the way, but none of them caught my eye. Perhaps the master I don’t know, ever since I got to know the mage, I have made up my mind to support you for the rest of my life. I can even make all the people in the whole country become your disciples, so you better stop talking to me about Journey to the West!” Xuanzang made up his mind, and he said to Qu Wentai, "It's okay to teach the Dharma, but stay in Gaochang, there's no way!"

Qu Wentai almost collapsed. He pointed to the Congshan Mountain (Pamir Plateau) in the distance, and jumped and said, "My disciple likes the Master, just like this Congshan Mountain is as firm as this! I beg the Master not to despise the disciple, stay and teach the disciple!" "According to the previous arrangement, Xuanzang needed to sing a section, and then he would chatter endlessly to instill boring words and phrases in him. When Qu Wentai collapsed in the end, he could go westward smoothly. But Xuanzang, who is of excellent character, did not choose this way. He looked at the sincere Qu Wentai, and said righteously, "I accept the king's wishes."

Qu Wen jumped up vigorously, he felt that Xuanzang was really a person who toasted and refused to eat fine wine.He rolled up his sleeves, pointed at Xuanzang and yelled angrily: "Master, don't blame me for using ruthless tactics! I can't control whether you want to stay or not, but if you want to stay, I will let you be a national teacher in Gaochang Kingdom. If you leave, I will arrest you and send you back to Chang'an!" Qu Wentai's vicious words frightened the surroundings, but Xuanzang was the only one who was not afraid. Xuanzang looked at the front indifferently and said:

"My heart is no longer here. What is the use of this pile of rotten bones? (Only the bones are kept by the king, not necessarily the mind.)" So he went on a hunger strike for three days without eating or drinking, and Qu Wentai collapsed. He knelt down to Xuanzang and invited him to eat, "Master, I am convinced, you can leave if you want, but you still have to eat." Qu Wentai was moved by Xuanzang, and the two came to the Buddha statue and became friends. Brother who is in charge. The prototype of Tang Seng Yudi comes from this, but the emperor is not Li Shimin, but Qu Wentai.

In order to ensure the safety of his journey westward, Qu Wentai gave Xuanzang one hundred taels of gold, thirty thousand silver coins, five hundred pieces of silk, thirty horses, twenty-five attendants, and twenty-four letters of credence. We know that although Qu Wentai believes in Buddhism, he also knows the truth of bullying the weak and fearing the strong. In his letter to the Khan of the Western Turks, he changed his previous prestige and said modestly: "Master Xuanzang is the younger brother of my minister. He wants to go to the Brahman country to learn scriptures. I hope Khan will take care of my brother as he takes care of me. Let the western countries not embarrass him, and send someone to escort him out of the country, I thank you in advance!" It can be seen that from that time on, Qu Wentai misjudged the situation.

Xuanzang was about to leave, leaving Gaochang, bypassing Tubo, trekking thousands of miles to the west. Although there are thousands of people, I will go on. Qu Wentai hugged Xuanzang and wailed, and his wives (who) saw how sad he was, so they also started to cry. When the concubine cried, the maids in the palace also cried, and the maids in the front cried, and those in the back also had to cry.So, a group of people started crying like this. This time it was considered to be on fire, and the officials following behind saw this, and cried with great interest. The entire suburb outside the capital of Gaochang was colored by the cries of farewell. Xuanzang left Gaochang amidst the cries of farewell. The team has expanded, thanks to Qu Wentai. Qu Wentai had one and only one request for Xuanzang, that is, to live in Gaochang for three years after returning from studying the Buddhist scriptures. Xuanzang failed to do so, just as Tang Seng failed to remember Laogui's request. But Xuanzang did not forget, but he could not fulfill his promise.Thirteen years later, Hou Junji led the Tang army to attack Gaochang, and Qu Wentai was frightened to death.Seventeen years later, Xuanzang returned to the Tang Dynasty. During the Tang Dynasty, the cultural exchanges between the East and the West, Xuanzang contributed a lot. Monk Tang went through ninety-nine and eighty-one ordeals, but Master Xuanzang suffered much more than eighty-one ordeals. The 22nd Chapter "Bajie Fights Liusha River, Mucha Follows the Dharma to Enlightenment" has written about the danger of Liusha River, and there are poems to prove it: Eight hundred quicksand realms, three thousand weak water depths. Goose feathers can't float, but reed flowers sink to the bottom. According to the novel, the Liusha River is a big river, and there are fine sands floating on the surface of the water, which cannot be crossed by ordinary people. In this river, there is a goblin named "General Roller".There are quicksand rivers in reality. In the desert, quicksand may form anywhere.Quicksand consists of sand above and water below. A thin layer of sand floats and rolls on groundwater like a river.Once a person is trapped, the more he struggles, the deeper he sinks. When encountering quicksand, the best way is to stay the same, move your body slowly, spread your body flat on the sand, and you will naturally drift to a safe place. Xuanzang obviously didn't know how powerful the Liusha River was, and the Liusha River was not so easy to talk about. There was Monk Sha waiting for Master inside. On the night when he failed to find the Yema Spring, Xuanzang was exhausted and watched in the desert dying.Just at this moment, many strange things floated out of the soft and terrifying fine sand. The sand flows slowly, slowly spewing out fairy-like lights. The lights dance lightly, and when they rise to a certain height, they will be extinguished by themselves. All of a sudden, green, blue, and purple monsters rose up one after another, as many as stars, reflecting the vastness into a warm day. This is not hallucination. That's quicksand.Since the day the desert was formed, an unknown number of lives have been devoured. The thing floating now is not an elf, let alone a ghost, but a phosphorous fire. Anyone who has studied chemistry knows that this is phosphine burning. I don't know how Xuanzang and Claret Horse finally saved their lives in the quicksand. There is no sand monk, no water demon and scorpion spirit in the quicksand river. Only he can help him. After arriving in Gaochang, Qu Wentai gave Xuanzang a lot of gold and silver, but these things were superfluous.Because judging from the stories that happened later, in many countries, what he received was not courtesy, but robbery. Robbers don't pay attention to righteousness, they can grab one thousand but never five hundred.Soon, all the things Qu Wentai gave to Xuanzang were robbed. What's even worse is that those attendants were also lost as they walked, and there were fewer and fewer of them, and not many of them could complete the task. When he arrived in India, Xuanzang finally got rid of everyone. Here's the thing: On the Ganges, Xuanzang and more than 80 other people of various types took a boat. All of a sudden, more than a dozen big boats rushed out from the back of the big boat, and the people on board started to commotion, and someone shouted: "The robbers are coming!" So, those who dived dived, and those who hugged their heads hugged their heads.Seeing that there were too many robberies, Xuanzang was not in a hurry. In this way, he and others were dragged ashore by the robbers. This group of robbers is still very familiar to the locals. The robbers robbed, in addition to robbing the necessities of life, they also robbed living people to support their gods. They have faith, and what they believe in is Tuga God. Tujia Goddess, female, sex power faction, it is said that she is wearing a red cassock, riding a tiger, has more than a dozen hands, and holds various weapons. This "sex power faction" must be as the name suggests, the goddess gets power from having sex with men, so when offering sacrifices, she must find a man, it is necessary.Of course, the robbers in India are worshipers of the god Tuga, and finding a handsome young man as a living sacrifice every year is their most important job.But this year's business was a bit poor, and it was almost time for the sacrifice, and they hadn't found a satisfactory sacrifice yet. Finally, the boss made a final decision and decided to rob. The robbers took everything, including Master Xuanzang.Dozens of people who were robbed were glanced at by the robbers. The robbers immediately fell in love with the handsome Xuanzang and arrested him: "This monk is so handsome, wouldn't it be great to kill him as a sacrifice!" Everyone cheered and began to sharpen their knives. At this time, Xuanzang suddenly opened his mouth, "I am not worthy!" Everyone was stunned, Xuanzang was very calm, "You also know that I am a monk. I have come to learn the scriptures, but I haven't achieved the true fruition yet. It is too unlucky for you to use a dirty body that has not been cultivated to worship the gods!" The robbers froze for a while, and after a few seconds, they started to riot. Everyone agrees that Xuanzang is good-looking and elegant in speech, and we cannot assume that he is dirty just because he says he is dirty. So, after everyone held a meeting to discuss, they reached a consensus that Xuanzang was the most handsome and should be chosen as a living sacrifice, otherwise the goddess would not be able to bear it.Then, they clamored to push Xuanzang onto the altar.Xuanzang was a little puzzled, "Didn't I explain it clearly to them?" The robbers, who worshiped the God of Tuga, launched a series of packages to Xuanzang, hoping that the goddess would be satisfied with him. First, they soaked Xuanzang in a jar and washed it like a carrot; Then they cleared a piece of land in the middle of the woods, and built an altar; Then, the two robbers carried machetes and dragged Xuanzang to the altar; In the end, everyone was solemn, but at this moment, the hundreds of robbers present were stunned again.
