Books are like this, and so are people. Things in the past may be very beautiful, but we can't stay in the past.

In the process of writing this work, there is a question that has been debated and never seems to be answered. What kind of novel is this?Alternative historical novels?Obscene novels?science fiction?Historical fiction?Or is it an allusion novel, a conspiracy novel? Most of the readers who like this book are not willing to classify this book as "overhead history" or "obscenity"-these two are sometimes almost synonymous; this persistent view also angered Many readers—after all, no one can change the fact that "Xin Song" is a "genre novel".Its theme is time travel, describing a modern person going back to the past and changing a piece of ancient history. No matter how reasonable the novel is written and how rigorous the details are, readers will always find some kind of substituting pleasure from it.What's more, "New Song Dynasty" is not perfect.Therefore, they will think that it is a kind of hypocrisy.In fact, I have never denied the fact that "New Song" is a genre novel, and I am proud that I have contributed to the development of this genre of novels-although this sounds a bit arrogant.

We've also tried to define fiction as "science fiction" or "historical fantasy"—and that can't be said to be wrong.The conjecture of parallel worlds is a basic point of "New Song Dynasty".The novel also tries to describe as reasonably as possible how a society changes due to the ingenious role of one person.If we don't understand "science fiction" superficially, we must admit that it is indeed a type of science fiction.As a sci-fi fan, I think this classification is a kind of appreciation.At least I worked hard to verify every detail of history, and earnestly deduced the possibilities of history. These efforts have been affirmed. The first three volumes of "New Song Dynasty" were once combined into one volume and published in the name of science fiction.

But the opponents also have their reasons. In "New Song Dynasty", historical factors overwhelm everything.Many readers bluntly said that the only reason they like "New Song" is because of its sense of history.Some people even think to the extreme that "New Song Dynasty" is just a treatise, a treatise on how history will develop if it is like this; a treatise showing my view of history—Amen!Let's hope it's not a dissertation.I hope it's fiction, at least if it's a good story. Indeed, this is a novel set in the era of Wang Anshi's reform, and in order to portray the historical sense of that era and highlight the truth of historical details, I often sacrificed the portrayal of characters.How much sense of history do I bring to you? All readers who open this book may have different evaluations.But I am very happy that many readers who have read this book told me after reading the book: "This is really a wonderful historical novel! A wonderful new historical novel!"

This evaluation, for me, is a great encouragement.During the three years of writing, I was most satisfied when some readers told me that after reading "New Song Dynasty", they began to re-understand the Song Dynasty, and even liked the Song Dynasty, becoming a "Ha Song" family. There are also quite a few readers who insist that this is an allusion novel, or a conspiracy novel.For the former, I can only say that it is a coincidence of history.The era we live in, like the era of Wang Anshi's reform, is an era of great change.Whether we realize it or not, history remembers our time.Therefore, please don’t be too surprised if we find that we also encounter the same problems that Wang Anshi encountered a thousand years ago.As for the latter, I hope the readers will judge for themselves.The book is indeed full of power struggles and intrigues, which are also part of history.

When I was writing "New Song", I didn't think about what kind of novel it was.Classification is not my job. For me, the most important thing is to give readers who like this book a good reading experience within the scope of my ability.But sometimes I can't help but wonder: Is it possible that there is a novel that is both an alternate history novel, a science fiction novel, and a historical novel at the same time? This new edition of "New Song Dynasty" will abandon the original volume structure, try to unify the style, and publish in volumes at a rate of about one volume per month.The original volume, this time it will be published in three volumes.Taking advantage of this opportunity, I made another revision, almost word for word.Only in the first three volumes, compared with the old edition, I have made at least hundreds of revisions, corrected a lot of flaws, modified some words and sentences, and added some descriptions.In addition, I also wrote appendices such as "New Song Dynasty Geography", "New Song Dynasty Fengwuzhi", "New Song Dynasty Gongzhanzhi" and other appendices, which are attached to each volume; in each book, there will also be attached The map of the changes in the territory of the Song Dynasty, the map of the war situation, and the map of the places where the main characters were active are for easy reading.

I believe these changes will result in a better reading experience.But for those readers who have bought the old edition, if they don't want to buy it again, I understand very well.Therefore, if you can support from the fourth volume, I am also very grateful. It is inconceivable that "New Song" can go today without the unwavering support and understanding of many readers for more than three years.
