Xuanzang spent most of his life in almost extreme fatigue. Whether it was the hardships of trekking to the west, the hard work of studying in various places in Tianzhu, or the hard work of translating scriptures after returning home, Xuanzang was repeatedly at the limit of his life... Finally, he Falling ill, like a building about to collapse, came too suddenly... After returning to Chang'an from Luoyang, Xuanzang's energy was far less than before. In order to concentrate on translating scriptures, he lived in the Yuhua Palace far away from the busy city. His eldest disciple, Kui Ji, accompanied him.

It was another winter, and Xuanzang was most afraid of winter, but the severe winter was still coming, the weather was extremely cold, and the land was covered with ice. Xuanzang's body was already very weak, but he still insisted on giving lectures to his disciples. He wanted to carry forward the knowledge he had learned from Tianzhu in the east during his lifetime. That day Xuanzang gave Yuji a lecture on "Cheng Wei Consciousness Theory", and Yuji listened devoutly. "The core idea of the Consciousness-Only Theory is the word 'knowledge'. The key to knowledge is all dharmas (things) and only consciousness, that is to say, everything is transformed from consciousness, and specifically, all kinds of seeds are transformed into ten thousand dharmas. This is Mahayana The theoretical basis of the Youzong is also the fundamental difference from the Kongzong."

"Cough!...cough!..." Xuanzang coughed violently and had to stop speaking. Kuiji poured hot tea for Xuanzang, handed it to the master and said: "Master, drink some hot tea to warm up your body, and your cough will be cured." Xuanzang put down the scroll, took a sip from the cup, and sighed: "Ah! Freezing three feet is not a day's cold. I'm afraid I won't be able to recover from the lung-chill left in the snow mountain!" Kui Ji said with concern: "Master, I won't let you stay up all night anymore." Xuanzang looked at Kuiji and said movedly: "Kuji, although you were born in a noble family and you are so young, you are very caring about people. You are really a rare and good disciple! I must take the most essence of Buddhism I have taught you the principles of Buddhism, please carry them forward and pass them on to all beings."

Kuiji said gratefully: "Master, you and I are called master and student, but we are actually father and son. The teachings of the master to the disciples will never be forgotten by the disciples." Xuanzang smiled, "I am relieved to have a student with Buddha-nature like you." The master and apprentice huddled together and talked until late at night... "Cough, cough!" Xuanzang coughed violently again. "Master, rest for a while!" Kui Ji said worriedly. "No! My deadline is coming soon, and now I am living one day less. Therefore, I must pass on the theory of consciousness-only that I learned from Master Jiexian to you as soon as possible."

"Master..." Kui Ji was moved to tears. Xuanzang went on to say: "The key point of Consciousness-only School's belief in 'knowledge' is that if there is knowledge, there is truth, and if there is truth, there is nirvana. Nirvana is not illusory. This way of practice has purpose, otherwise everything is empty. Talk about cultivating Buddhism." Kui Ji nodded frequently, thinking seriously. Xuanzang said again solemnly: "In the future, we will establish the Consciousness-Wei School in China, so that all living beings yearn for the real existence rather than the illusory Nirvana Reality Realm."

As soon as Xuanzang finished speaking, he saw a dark shadow flickering outside the window. Kui Ji went out to look at it and came back and said: "Yuan Ce is eavesdropping." Xuanzang said: "If he listens, let him listen. Anyway, he is also my disciple. I will tell you first, mainly because you have gained a lot of understanding in translating "Cheng Wei Consciousness", so I want you to become the only one. The successor of Shizong. Then, you will explain it to all living beings, not just you, Yuan Ce has misunderstood it, but it is not bad for him to be so eager to learn."

Kui Ji nodded and said, "I understand." The next day, Yuan Ce was the first to give a lecture on "Cheng Wei Consciousness Theory" to his disciples in Ximing Temple. The main content was what he overheard Xuan Zang's lecture to Yuji in Yuhua Palace. A little monk came and told Kui Ji: "Eldest brother, Yuan Ce preached the Consciousness-Wei sect to all the monks in Ximing Temple." After hearing this, Kuiji was very angry, so he went to tell Xuanzang: "Master, Yuan Ce is the first to give a lecture on "Cheng Wei Consciousness Theory" at Ximing Temple."

Xuanzang laughed and said, "Why are you angry? It's a good thing to preach Consciousness-Only Theory! You are all brothers and sisters, you should unite and spread the Dharma together. Buddhism requires the six senses to be clean, and the dust is clean, so that you can save yourself and others!" Kui Ji felt ashamed when he heard this, so he didn't speak any more. Xuanzang spent most of his life in almost extreme fatigue. Whether it was the hardships of trekking to the west, the hard work of studying in various places in Tianzhu, or the hard work of translating scriptures after returning home, Xuanzang was repeatedly at the limit of his life.

Finally, Xuanzang fell ill, just like a building toppling down, it came suddenly and seriously... In the meditation room of Daci'en Temple, Xuanzang was panting on the bed, his complexion was very gloomy, and Kuiji and Yuance stood on both sides of the bed.Xuanzang looked at his two proud disciples, feeling relieved spontaneously. Kuiji is very talented and knowledgeable, especially he has the most thorough understanding of Xuanzang's views, and he has developed a lot, so he is deeply appreciated by Xuanzang. Since Kui Ji was accepted as a disciple, he has often served the master at his side, and what Xuanzang values most is that he has the most unique insights. For example, when translating "Cheng Wei Consciousness Theory", everyone advocated that the ten masters' treatises should be translated in a hundred volumes. Condensed into ten volumes. In particular, it brilliantly reflects the viewpoints of Dharma protectors without losing the integration of miscellaneous scholars, thus making this translation the most high-level translation, and laying the foundation for this book to become a classic of the Confucianism School.

What makes Xuanzang appreciate Kuiji even more is his special liking for the theory of knowledge only.As long as Xuanzang told him about Consciousness-Only Theory, his eyes would light up and he would be very excited. His thirst for knowledge from Xuanzang was as tireless as Xuanzang's tireless study of "Yogi's Land Theory" from Master Jiexian. There is Xuanzang's shadow in Kuiji, so Xuanzang also takes special care of him. Thinking of this, a smile appeared on Xuanzang's face. Xuanzang looked at Yuan Ce again. Although he was from Silla (Korean), he came to China at the age of fifteen and traveled extensively to study.

He is very diligent in his studies, has read all kinds of scriptures extensively, and has studied many people. After studying under Xuanzang, he earnestly studied and translated many scriptures, which was also favored by Xuanzang. He is twenty years older than Yuji, although his thinking is not as quick as Yuji's, but he is quite deep and has many unique opinions. well! It's a pity that the two of them often argue endlessly over some point of view, which often hurts their peace... Wen Xuanzang sighed, and both of them asked with concern. "Master, are you uncomfortable?" Kui Ji asked. Yuan Ce also said, "Master, what do you think?" Xuanzang sighed again after hearing this, and said to the two of them meaningfully: "Buddhism is supposed to be a pure land, but there has always been a struggle between Mahayana and Mahayana Buddhism. Even Mahayana Buddhism has always been arguing over whether the true and false of the Nirvana realm are divided into empty and empty, and there are two sects. Both of you They are my disciples, now we are Consciousness-only, so there should be no more differences, and we must unite sincerely and spread the Dharma wholeheartedly." "Yes, mage!" Yuan Ce said. Kui Ji also said: "The disciple obeys." "Then you two should swear to the Buddha." Xuanzang said with a serious face. Seeing this, Kui Ji and Yuan Ce knelt down to Xuanzang and swore: "Master, please rest assured, Kui Ji and Yuan Ce will follow the teachings of Master, and we will spread the Dharma with one heart and no longer argue." Xuanzang smiled in relief. Although the two disciples swore to Xuanzang, they did not engrave Xuanzang's words in their hearts. After Xuanzang passed away, although both of them promoted the Consciousness-Only School founded by Xuanzang, their viewpoints were still different, and it became more and more serious. They simply recruited their own disciples: Kyuki mostly recruited students from China, and Yuancee recruited students from Silla. ; Kuiji is based on Daci'en Temple, while Yuance is the abbot of Ximing Temple. Therefore, Kui Ji was called Master Ci'en by later generations, and Yuan Ce was revered as Master Ximing. In Buddhism, both of them have made great achievements. Kui Ji inherited and carried forward Xuanzang's Consciousness-Only Sect, not only became the representative of Ci'en Temple, but also wrote a large number of forty-eight volumes. Japan. Yuan Ce gave lectures on "Cheng Wei Consciousness Theory" and "Avatamsaka Sutra" in Ximing Temple, wrote 18 volumes, and trained a group of disciples for Silla, and passed the Consciousness-Only School founded by Xuanzang to North Korea. The two masters, Kui Ji and Yuan Ce, both made great contributions to the development of Buddhism and the promotion of the Consciousness-Wei School founded by Xuanzang.Among them, Kui Ji is of course more famous and has more achievements. He pushed the Consciousness-Wei School of Chinese Buddhism to its peak and made great contributions to the development of Chinese Buddhism.
