Legend 杨力 7816Words 2018-03-13
Xuanzang had no choice but to go on a hunger strike to resist Gaochang's forced stay. The king personally brought meals to persuade him, and the princess cried and begged him.But Xuanzang resolutely refused. After seven days, Xuanzang lying on the wooden couch was dying... This morning, the sun was shining brightly, and the birds were chirping. Xuanzang was meditating under a big bodhi tree in the courtyard of the palace. He was holding a Buddhist scripture and muttering: "When Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva practices the Prajna Paramita Heart Sutra, he sees that the five aggregates are all empty, and overcomes all hardships..."

There was a burst of laughter... In the courtyard came the beautiful Princess Irina of Gaochang Kingdom, followed by two maids. She was in her prime, with a high nose bridge, thin and slightly pouty lips, and a pair of big watery eyes under her slender black eyebrows, and her eyelashes were long and rolled up. Today she is wearing a pink gauze dress, with two black braids hanging down her undulating chest, and a gauze scarf on her shoulders, she looks very slim, just like a beautiful girl from the Western Regions. When Princess Irina greeted Xuanzang at the gate of the city, she was overwhelmed by his appearance. After that, she would come every time Xuanzang gave a lecture, and stared at the eminent monk intently. After a month, Xuanzang had become a saint in her mind. She didn't know whether it was love or admiration. Anyway, as long as he didn't see Xuanzang for a day, he would be upset. It can be said that he had reached the level of infatuation.

This morning, she listened to his lecture, but she didn't see Xuanzang in the afternoon, so she looked around and saw Xuanzang chanting under the bodhi tree from a distance, and the princess walked over happily full of joy. Seeing the princess approaching, Xuanzang got up and said, "Amitabha, good morning, princess." "Amitabha, the master is auspicious. Is the master reciting the Prajna Paramita Heart Sutra?" "Exactly." "Oh! I also like this scripture very much, Master. I would like to ask you to enlighten me on the true meaning of this scripture."

Xuanzang then spoke seriously to the princess: "Prajna in Sanskrit means wisdom, Paramita means reaching the other shore, and Heart Sutra means the core and outline. The purpose of this book is to help all living beings escape the sea of suffering in the world and enter the realm of Nirvana." The princess took a step closer to Xuanzang, and asked with fiery eyes: "Is the mage willing to help me overcome the sea of suffering?" Although Xuanzang is a monk, he is not ignorant of worldly love. When he first arrived in Gaochang Kingdom, at the gate of the city, when King Quwentai introduced his daughter to him, the princess's fiery eyes once made him tremble in his heart.Afterwards, every time when the scriptures were preached, the princess sat beside the king and stared at Xuanzang intently. Occasionally, when her eyes collided with her, her lightning-like passion would make Xuanzang's eyes avoid quickly as if they were about to be struck by lightning. Open, every time Xuanzang was forced to silently say "Amitabha" before continuing. When there is no scripture lecture, no matter where Xuanzang is, the princess will find an excuse to come to see him.

Today, Xuanzang was thinking of staying under the bodhi tree for a while, but unexpectedly the princess came again. Xuanzang had realized the feelings of the princess, so he hurriedly avoided her gaze, put his palms together and said: "Amitabha, the poor monk wishes to help all sentient beings to escape suffering." "Then ask the mage to shave me, and let me go to Tianzhu with the mage to learn scriptures, how about it?" "Ah! Never! The princess is about to be a bride, please don't make the king sad." The princess retorted: "Didn't you hurt your family's heart by leaving?"

Xuanzang hurriedly said, "Amitabha, that's not the same." The princess chased after her and said: "I know that Buddhism is about abstaining from lust, but I only go to learn scriptures with the mage, and I don't have any wrong thoughts. Why doesn't the mage refuse?" Xuanzang blushed and said: "The princess is here, the poor monk will give lectures in the afternoon, so I will not accompany you." After saying that, he seemed to run away and left. "Mage..." The princess looked at Xuanzang's back, and tears rolled down her beautiful cheeks.

At night, the moonlight shone into the palace, and Xuanzang tossed and turned on the couch, unable to sleep. Although Xuanzang was a monk, he was also a human being, a man of flesh and blood, and he was also a handsome man.Of course he couldn't accept the princess' affection, but it aroused his nostalgia for another girl... The scene of meeting the girl Huaqin in Chang'an can't help but come to mind... It was an afternoon in spring, Xuanzang was giving lectures in the monastery. Not far away, a father and daughter held drawing boards, drawing while listening... The girl is about 21 or 20 years old, with an oval face, fair skin, under the fine willow eyebrows, a pair of handsome eyes shining with waves, she looks very intelligent and soft.

With her slender hands, while drawing the portraits of the characters, she said to the old man beside her: "Father, Master Xuanzang is really like the Tathagata Bodhisattva. It can be said that he is the reincarnation of the Tathagata." "Yes. Not only does he look like the Tathagata Bodhisattva, but he also has profound Buddhist principles." The old man looked fifty or sixty years old, with a thin face and kind eyes. He was listening to Xuanzang's lecture attentively, and praised him from time to time. At the end of the speech, Xuanzang stood up and said loudly:

"Everyone has Buddha nature, no matter who is pious, he can cross to the other side of Nirvana!" Xuanzang's concluding remarks won the applause of the people who listened to the scriptures. After the meeting was over, some people gathered around and asked: "Excuse me, eminent monk, do robbers have Buddha nature, and can they cross to the other shore?" Xuanzang replied: "You have asked this question very well. As long as the robbers let go of the robbery and practice piously, they can also cross to the other shore." At this time, the father and daughter squeezed in front of Xuanzang, and the girl said politely:

"Master Xuanzang, this is my father. He is a painter. We think you are too much like the Tathagata Bodhisattva, so we drew a portrait for you. Do you think you look like it?" Xuanzang looked at it and praised, "It's so similar." The Buddhist leader in Hexi, Master Huiwei, also said: "It seems that the Tathagata has come down to earth." "Where did you two come from?" Xuanzang asked. "Oh! My name is Chen Huashi, and she is my daughter, Huaqin, from Chang'an. She is now painting murals in Dunhuang. We are also interested in Buddhism, and we are painting Buddhist scriptures in Dunhuang. I heard that eminent monks came to Chang'an to give lectures, so I came from here. Dunhuang came to ask the mage for advice."

"That's right, please go to Han Temple to have a talk." Master Huiwei warmly invited them. Xuanzang turned over on the couch, and an unforgettable memory appeared before his eyes again... Xuanzang's heart has changed since he got to know Huaqin, and it is often difficult to calm down like a river is overwhelming. One day, Xuanzang accompanied Huaqin and his daughter to their residence in Chang'an.Xuanzang was stunned by the Buddha statues and Buddhist scriptures hanging in the room. He pointed to one of the statues of Guanyin Bodhisattva and asked the old artist. "Who painted this? It's like the Tathagata descended from the world." Huaqin's father pointed to Huaqin and said, "I guided her to paint." Xuanzang cast admiring glances at Huaqin, and praised: "I really didn't expect the girl to have such a unique skill at such a young age." Huaqin's father sighed: "Qin'er has a hard life and lost her mother since she was a child. I was the father and mother who brought up her brother and sister. I make a living by selling paintings. She has been learning painting from me since she was three years old. It's not easy to have the kung fu I have today. She learned to paint the piano extremely hard, and she kept painting..." "Ah!" The old man sighed, and said again, "Mage, please take a look." The old man pointed to the finger of the piano and said, "The paintbrush has worn her fingers into blood calluses. I don't paint during the day, and I still light candles at night." Deng Hua, alas! Sometimes I really feel sorry for her! For the sake of art, she will give up everything." Xuanzang looked at her hands in surprise, and sighed in his heart: It turns out that she is learning art just like I am studying scriptures, and she regards death as home! Hearing his father mention his mother, Huaqin raised his head. When Xuanzang saw her beautiful eyes tearing up, he couldn't help being moved. He was deeply moved by the girl's fate and persistent artistic spirit. . Huaqin pointed to a portrait of Tathagata Buddha and asked Xuanzang: "Master, look, this is my painting, father's eyes, what do you think?" Xuanzang looked at it carefully for a while, and said, "The painting is not bad, especially the eyes." "Really? Why?" Huaqin asked happily. "Because the Buddha's extraordinary birth can be seen from the clear and untainted eyes. In addition, the lips are also well painted, showing the tolerance and kindness of the Buddha. The eyes that seem to be open and closed correspond to the lips that seem to laugh and cry, reflecting Therefore, this Buddha statue is well painted and well-pointed, and it is worthy of being a masterpiece of the family." "Ah! The mage is overwhelmed. That's why I got enlightened after listening to your lecture!" Huaqin's father said humbly. Huaqin's father said again: "Master, we want to paint Buddhist scripture stories in Dunhuang, please give us a hint." Xuanzang said: "There are so many stories in the Buddhist scriptures, including stories about the journey of Bodhisattvas and Arhats to become Buddhas and their salvation of sentient beings. There are many stories that are very touching and really worth painting." Huaqin said anxiously: "Then ask the master to tell some touching stories." Huaqin's father let Xuanzang sit down at the table of the Eight Immortals, served hot tea again, and said: "Master, drink some tea first and talk slowly." After speaking, he also sat down.Huaqin also put down the pen in her hand and sat down beside her father. She rested her cheeks on both hands, blinked her beautiful eyes, and waited for Xuanzang to speak. Seeing that the father and daughter were so serious, Xuanzang didn't dare to be negligent. He took a sip from the teacup, and then began to talk: "Let me tell you the story of Ananda first. Ananda is the cousin of Buddha Sakyamuni. When the boat crossed the border river between the two countries, the kings of the two countries sent troops to fight for him. Ananda was afraid that the war would destroy them, so he recited the Buddha's ascension from the boat to the sky and burned himself. The two kings were shocked After a while, the relics of Ananda's fire fell equally on the boats of the two kings. The two kings were deeply ashamed, and they reconciled as before. A half body stupa." After hearing this, Huaqin said excitedly: "Ananda Buddha's heart is really kind, that's great. We must draw this story. Please continue to tell it." Xuanzang said again: "I will tell you a story about a robber who became a Buddha. It is recorded in the Buddhist scriptures that a robber dressed in a cassock and sneaked into Sakyamuni's disciple Shen. Sakyamuni judged him from his eyes. He used to be a villain, but since he was willing to change from evil to good, he accepted him tolerantly. But he did not change his bad habits, often drinking and beating others, even stealing meat, and did not abide by the rules of the courtyard. The Buddha even saw him a few times Eager to move." Xuanzang paused and said again: "So the Buddha enlightened him with karma, repeatedly told him that good will be rewarded with good, and evil will be rewarded with evil, and showed him his past evil deeds. After seeing the tragic experience of the person who was robbed, he finally moved his heart to hide. After that, the robber determined to change his past, repented, and practiced seriously. After he practiced hard, he finally became an arhat." Huaqin sighed: "Ah! It's so legendary. From a robber who violated nature and justice to an arhat who saves all living beings, this is exactly what you said in the lecture hall, 'everyone has Buddha nature', isn't it? Master? " "Yes, anyone who can put down the butcher knife can become a Buddha immediately." Huaqin said: "Okay, this story, I also want to include it in the series. Please continue." So Xuanzang told a third story: "This is a story about five hundred blind people who became five hundred arhats. In the past, there were five hundred blind people in Vaishali, Tianzhu. They bought five hundred gold coins and hired a guide to take them to Sravasti to meet the Buddha. Unfortunately, the damn guide was a liar, and he took them halfway and slipped away with the money. The five hundred blind men had to touch it by themselves. They went to find the Buddha. They pulled the skirts of the clothes one by one, and went back and forth several times in vain. Finally, they found the Buddha after going through hardships. The Buddha was moved by their spirit, so he helped them see the light again. Since then, five hundred blind people Seriously practice, for five hundred arhats." "Ah! Five hundred blind men cultivated five hundred arhats. It's so legendary. Father, can we make a picture of this story as well?" "Okay." Huaqin's father nodded excitedly. "Five hundred is the most auspicious number in Buddhist scriptures. When Sakyamuni first became a Buddha, he accepted five hundred disciples. After Sakyamuni passed away, his great disciple Kassapa gathered five hundred bhikkhus and became five hundred arhats." Huaqin's father sighed: "The stories of these five hundred arhats are enough for us to paint for several years." "Buddhism is really vast!" Xuan Prize unpacked his luggage, took out a few books, and said: "These few Buddhist scriptures are given to you. There are many Buddhist scripture stories in them, for your reference when composing paintings." "Ah! Thank you so much, thank you so much." Huaqin's father took it with both hands, and the father and daughter were very grateful to Xuanzang while flipping through it. The three of them were chatting enthusiastically, and they didn't realize it was dinner time, when the family brought the food, Huaqin and his daughter forced Xuanzang to stay and entertain him to the vegetarian meal. During the meal, Huaqin's father pointed to his daughter and said, "She is determined to complete the Dunhuang murals, and in order to paint Buddhist paintings well, that's why she came to Chang'an from Dunhuang to invite you to come and guide her." Oh!So it is!Xuanzang sighed in his heart. Perhaps because of excitement, Huaqin didn't talk much today, she always looked at Xuanzang with a pair of talking eyes from time to time, and after hearing what her father said, she said earnestly: "Master, don't go to the Western Regions. It's too dangerous. Come with us to Dunhuang! Dunhuang murals need you." Although Xuanzang was moved by the spirit of Huaqin, his ambition to go west was fixed and he would never change it, so he had no choice but to comfort Huaqin and said: "Looking at your paintings, you have already understood the true meaning of Buddhism. I believe you will be able to fulfill your long-cherished wish. May the Bodhisattva bless you, Amitabha!" After hearing this, Huaqin sighed, raised her head and glanced at Xuanzang, and Xuanzang also glanced at her, seeing that the tender eyes clearly contained deeper meaning, Xuanzang's heart trembled, and he hurriedly avoided. "Amitabha!" After he silently recited a sentence, it took a lot of effort to calm down the surge in his heart. After the meal, Xuanzang told his father and daughter some Buddhist stories and got up to leave. Huaqin insisted on giving Xuanzang a ride, but seeing Xuanzang's troubled face, she said, "What if I were your real sister?" Xuanzang seemed to have seen a crystal in her eyes from her clear and flawless eyes. Heart, there is no reason to refuse. Huaqin's father knew what his daughter was thinking, so he didn't say anything, so Xuanzang clasped his palms together and thanked Huaqin's father who sent him out of the door. Fortunately, night had fallen, so Xuanzang felt relieved and walked towards the monastery together with Huaqin.Huaqin knew that Xuanzang would not let her be sent to the monastery, so she took the time to talk to him.Knowing that Xuanzang was afraid of being seen, Huaqin walked into an alley and asked him: "When is the mage going to leave?" "You have to wait for the approval of the court before you can leave." "Who is going with you?" "Just me." "Are you going to Tianzhu alone?" Huaqin was so surprised that she stopped in her tracks. She opened her almond eyes and asked again: "Didn't you say a few days ago that some companions would go with you?" Xuanzang said silently: "Yes, but they saw that the imperial court's order was hopeless, so they returned. Now the border is tight, and they are not allowed to enter and exit!" "Master, since that's the case, don't go, go to Dunhuang with us! If you make Buddha statues and draw stories from Buddhist scriptures, don't you also promote Buddhism!" A gleam of hope flashed in Huaqin's heart, and she took advantage of the momentum to think Persuade Xuanzang to give up traveling westward. But Xuanzang said firmly: "No, I have more important things, even if I am alone, I will never back down!" Huaqin was very admired when she heard it, and she said excitedly: "The mage is really amazing!" Seeing that he was about to turn out of the street ahead, Xuanzang stopped and saluted Huaqin with palms together and said: "Girl please go back now, the poor monk bids farewell." When Huaqin saw her, she had to bow to Xuanzang and said: "Today, my father and I thank the Master for coming to the humble house, and we are very grateful for the Master's teaching." After the ceremony, the two separated and went back to their residences. Xuanzang walked quickly towards the monastery after breaking up, while Huaqin was still standing on the road, she watched Xuanzang go so far away that she couldn't even see his back, so she turned around and returned disappointed. On this day, Xuanzang had just returned to his residence after preaching the scriptures, when a young monk came in and said, "Master, a female benefactor has come to visit you." "Oh, where?" "Outside the courtyard gate, she refused to come in, saying that she was in a hurry to find you." "Okay, I'll go out and have a look." Xuanzang walked quickly to the gate of the monastery, and saw Huaqin standing under the bodhi tree waiting for him, Xuanzang thought to himself that her father and daughter came together every time, why she was the only one today, just wondering, Miqin had already stepped forward He salutes. "Master, I'm sorry to bother you. I'm here to say goodbye to you today. My father and I are going back to Dunhuang tomorrow." "Oh, I'm leaving soon. The court still hasn't approved it, and I'm going to cross the border." "Ah, it's too dangerous! I heard that the punishment for illegally crossing the border is very heavy, and if you catch it, you will be sentenced." "Oh, what can I do!" Xuanzang sighed. "Master, let's go to Dunhuang with us! My father and I implore you again, and hope that you will cooperate with us to complete the Dunhuang murals. My brother is a mural carver, and he very much hopes that you will go. Guidance, our art must be more reflective of Buddha nature.” Xuanzang said: "Buddhism and art are indeed closely related. The combination of the two can reach a very high level of art. However, I have talked with you many times. In fact, you have already comprehended deeply and can fully embody the Buddha nature. " Huaqin said eagerly: "My father and I listened to your lectures several times, which gave us a lot of inspiration, but we still hope that you can come to guide us in person." Huaqin's eyes were shining with anticipation, and she was staring at Xuanzang ardently. Xuanzang had already understood that there was another meaning hidden in these eyes as deep as autumn pools. His heart trembled again, but he said solemnly: "Amitabha! We have our own ambitions, so we have to go our separate ways." Seeing that the persuasion was ineffective, Huaqin had no choice but to leave, and bowed to Xuanzang: "Master, since that is the case, then I will leave, please take care." Xuanzang clasped his palms together and said, "Amitabha, I'm sorry to send you off, safe journey." When Xuanzang saw Huaqin's eyes about to shed tears and turned around hastily, he was so moved that he almost moved Fanxin. Looking at Huaqin's back, he sighed secretly: well! It's a pity that I'm a monk with great ambitions, otherwise she would be the embodiment of truth, kindness and beauty, who would not be tempted by such a talented and loving girl. Thinking back to this point, Xuanzang who was lying on the bed said to himself: "What's wrong with me, I've already entered and exited, why..." He immediately stood up and meditated, reciting the "Prajna Heart Sutra", and it took him a long time to calm down. Xuanzang had been lecturing on the scriptures in Gaochang for more than ten days. Because he was eager to go west, he came here to bid farewell to the king on this day. When King Qu Wentai heard this, he stamped anxiously: "No way, no way! I will never let the mage go away." Seeing that the king was so sincere, Xuanzang couldn't bear it, so he said: "Since Your Majesty is in such a hurry, Xuanzang will continue to lecture on the scriptures for a few more days, but the journey to the west cannot be delayed." The king still disagreed after hearing this, and said: "Our country believes in Buddhism and urgently needs the guidance of an eminent monk like you. Besides, the road to the place you are going to is dangerous and your life is at stake. If you encounter any danger, wouldn't it be a great loss for Buddhism?" Xuanzang replied: "The poor monk traveled westward to obtain the scriptures, and he did not hesitate to pay the price of his life for this. Even if he really died, he would die without regret." Seeing that the entreaty was not enough, the king said angrily: "The disciple refused to agree to keep the mage again and again, so don't blame the disciple for being unreasonable. Now there are only two ways in front of you, either stay and not leave, or send you to solidify the Tang Dynasty." Xuanzang was so anxious that he burst into tears. He choked up and said: "Xuanzang traveled westward to seek Dafa, but now he is blocked. However, I have vowed that I will never return eastward until Tianzhu. Even if the king leaves my bones Can't keep my heart." The king walked away angrily. Xuanzang had no choice but to preach the scriptures for more than ten days, but there was still no sign of letting him go. However, Xuanzang had no choice but to resist with a hunger strike. When the king learned that Xuanzang was on a hunger strike, he personally brought a meal box to persuade him to eat, but Xuanzang was determined not to eat. "Master, please eat, you will damage your body in this way." "You want me to eat, unless His Majesty lets me go west." "Ah!..." The king shook his head helplessly. Xuanzang had not touched water or rice for several days. Xuanzang, who had been meditating and chanting scriptures, could only lie down and could not get up. On the seventh day, his breathing was very weak. When the princess came to see him, seeing the mage's breath was weak, she was so sad that she burst into tears. She brought a bowl of porridge and persuaded him while crying: "Master, you are so respectable, please eat, so as not to hurt your life." Xuanzang closed his eyes, unable to speak anymore. The princess cried and ran to report to her father. "Father, the master's hunger strike is almost over. Please let the master go. My daughter is willing to go to Tianzhu with him to learn scriptures. If you don't let him go, my daughter will also accompany the master on hunger strike." "Nonsense!" the king yelled at her angrily. Seeing the princess crying like tears, the queen, who had already seen her daughter's mind, said to the king: "The mage insists on leaving, let him go, if the stalemate continues, if someone dies, how can the Bodhisattva agree? It will cause great losses to the Buddhist world. Besides, even if you keep someone, how can you keep his heart." King Qu Wentai sighed and said: "Hey! That's the only way, but our country really needs him..." "Father, my daughter is willing to go with the mage..." Before the princess could finish speaking, the king waved his hand and said, "Impossible! Don't dare to have unreasonable thoughts. Don't forget that you are about to get married. Queen, let's go and see the master." "it is good." The king, queen, and princess hurried to the master's Zen palace. After a while, the king, queen, and princess came. They were very anxious to see Xuanzang in this state. The king took his hand and said kindly: "The mage is really a Buddha. It is really admirable. I have discussed with the queen that I will not keep you anymore. We will definitely fulfill your will." The queen took the bowl from the princess and said sincerely: "Master, please have a meal, we will definitely assist you to complete your ambition." Xuanzang opened his eyes after hearing this, and tears flowed down the corners of his eyes... King Qu Wentai had been waiting by Xuanzang's bed for several days, and personally nourished Xuanzang. Seeing that Xuanzang's complexion gradually improved, the king was relieved.Xuanzang was deeply moved. On this day, the sky was clear and the sunset glowed red. King Qu Wentai held a grand farewell vegetarian banquet for Xuanzang on the square outside the palace. The king and Xuanzang sworn brothers. On the square outside the main entrance of the king's official, a platform was temporarily set up, and banners of various colors were planted above and below the platform and around the square. On the right side of the square are ministers of civil and military affairs, and on the left side are monks from various monasteries. The surroundings are full of guards and soldiers, and outside are crowds of onlookers. When the auspicious time came, the drums and music sounded together. King Qu Wentai joined hands with Xuanzang, followed by the queen mother, queen, and princess... and stepped onto the banquet stage amidst the music. All the officials and the common people shouted: "Long live the king, long live the king!" "The mage's merit is immeasurable!" After standing in the center, the king waved his hands to thank everyone. The music ceased, and the calling ceased. The king bowed to Xuanzang, and after saluting all the officials and people, he said: "My subjects: "Today we hold a grand Vegetarian State Banquet to honor Venerable Master Xuanzang. He will start his journey to the west tomorrow. Master Xuanzang's profound Buddhist studies are beyond the reach of masters, and his moral excellence is not comparable to that of great sages. I wanted to force the mage to stay, but the mage refused to die, so I had no choice but to let it go. The perseverance of the mage is really admirable. Now, I will drink blood with the mage and become a life-and-death friend. From then on, brothers will be called Yinghong Buddhism." After the king finished speaking, he waved his hand, and the left and right drums played in unison. A servant held two bowls filled with water in both hands, and knelt in front of the king. The king and Xuanzang both rolled up their sleeves... There was another burst of drum music, and a courtier knelt in front of the king and Xuanzang with a sword held high in both hands. The king stabbed his arm lightly with his sword, and the blood dripped into the bowl in front of him. Xuanzang bit his finger and dripped the blood into the bowl in front of him. The two drank the blood wine in one gulp to the sound of drum music. , Thunderous applause broke out at the banquet. After drinking, the king wiped his mouth and said excitedly: "The mage and I have become brothers from now on, and we have become friends of life and death. My subjects, bless us!" "Long live the king, long live the king!" "The master's merits and virtues are complete, and the Dharma is immeasurable!" After the two swore their vows, the drums and music played again. At the feast of fasting, the king and Xuanzang attended the table amidst the cheers of his ministers. After the two sat down, the ministers also sat down one by one. With a burst of melodious music, the princess led a group of girls to dance. The princess was wearing a pink dress and light gauze. Jumping happily. King Qu Wentai clapped his hands happily, but Xuanzang noticed the tears in the princess's eyes, and he clasped his hands together and prayed in his heart: Amitabha, may the Bodhisattva bless this beautiful and kind princess, and wish her good luck in her life. Xuanzang was praying for the princess, a round of warm applause made him raise his head, seeing that the princess had finished dancing, he went back and sat down beside the queen. On the day of departure, the king, queen mother, queen, princess, monks, and subjects all gathered at the city gate to see Xuanzang off. The king held Xuanzang's hand and wept endlessly. The queen mother, queen, princess, monks, and subjects all wept bitterly, and Xuanzang also burst into tears. The scene was very tragic. The princess wanted to send Xuanzang off again, but was stopped by the king. During his stay in Gaochang Kingdom, Xuanzang resisted the forced stay with a hunger strike, and was released only when he was dying. During his journey to the west, he experienced the test of death.
