The "Japanese soldiers" in the photos are a bit strange, some of them wear glasses, and some of them carry a kind of "gentlemanly spirit" in their demeanor, which is not like warriors on the battlefield. It turned out that this was 1941, and students who were about to graduate from Japanese medical schools were undergoing military training. This group of trainees was scheduled to go to the "Manchuria Colonization Company" to serve the Japanese immigrants of the pioneering group, and some members may enter the Japanese army. Why do you need military training if you don't need to go to the battlefield to be a doctor? It turned out that this was because there were frequent anti-Union activities in "Manchuria" at that time, and these medical students had to be prepared. In fact, not to mention the general Japanese army and settlements, even the heavily guarded bacterial warfare bases like the 731 Unit were once attacked by the Anti-Japanese Alliance. In September 1934, a unit of the Northeast Anti-Japanese Allied Forces attacked the Japanese bacterial warfare experiment base in Shuangcheng. The Japanese Army Bacterial Warfare Experimental Base is the predecessor of Unit 731. It is located on the bank of the Beiyin River in Lalin Changdong, Shuangcheng County, Harbin, Heilongjiang Province. Due to its tight security, it was once mistaken by the Anti-Union Army as an arsenal for the Japanese Army.

It was the Seventh Battalion of the Hadong Detachment (reorganized into the First Regiment of the Third Army of the Northeast Anti-Japanese Allied Army the following year) that fought the Japanese army's bacterial warfare base. Liu Haitao is from Shandong. His original name was Liu Baoren. He graduated from high school. When he was young, he went to the northeast and became a lumberjack.Later, because he offended the police because he was good at fighting injustice, he was arrested and imprisoned for half a year. After "September 18th", Liu led his troops to defect to Sun Chaoyang's anti-Japanese armed volunteer team. There is a groom in this armed force, Zhao Shangzhi who broke in and tried to pull the team.Soon, after Zhao Shangzhi showed his military talents, he was promoted to chief of staff, and then led his team away from Sun Chaoyang to establish an independent guerrilla, which became the earliest source of the Third Army of the Anti-Union Army.Soon, Liu Haitao led his troops to vote with guns. In July 1933, the Zhuhe County guerrillas were established, and Liu Haitao joined the Communist Party of China in the same year. In 1934, the Zhuhe County guerrilla was expanded into the Hadong Detachment of the Northeast Anti-Japanese Guerrilla. On June 29, 1934, Liu Haitao was appointed as the instructor of the Cavalry Team of the Hadong Detachment. After the reorganization of the Hadong Detachment in the autumn of 1934, Zhao Shangzhi served as the commander, Han Guang, the director of the Political Department, had five brigades under it, and Liu Haitao was the captain of the seventh brigade. Before and after attacking the Japanese bacterial warfare base, he also commanded troops to attack Lishugou in Shuangcheng, wiped out more than 100 enemies, and captured 50 short guns, which strengthened the prestige of the Hadong detachment. In November 1935, he served as the commander of the First Division of the Third Army of the Northeast People's Revolutionary Army (later the Third Army of the Anti-Union Army), and led the troops to carry out guerrilla warfare in the Fangzheng, Yanshou, and Mudanjiang areas.

When attacking the Japanese bacterial warfare base, it was found that the Japanese army was strong and the Anti-Japanese Alliance withdrew from the battle before occupying the entire base. Therefore, it can only be counted as an invasion, not annihilation or occupation. But after the battle started, the Chinese who were used as experimental subjects in the base (that is, the famous "Maluta" in the 731 Unit) launched a riot, and a total of 16 people escaped from the magic cave under the support of the Anti-Union Team.Considering that there are no reliable cases of surviving after being sent to the 731 base so far, this is probably one of the very few lucky people who escaped from the Japanese army's germ warfare experiment.

It was these survivors who provided the creepy inside story of the Japanese bacterial warfare base. After the July 7th Incident, the party organization sent Liu Haitao to the Soviet Union to study at the Eighth Campus of the Communist University of Stalin’s Oriental Laborers (that is, the Anti-Union Cadre School). The Comintern provided a report that may be counted as the world's first public revelation of Japanese germ warfare experiments and human experiments. Liu Haitao’s report retained a large number of spoken language features, and its content is as follows—— Hundreds of houses have been repaired, the windows are made of iron, and the prisoners cannot see out from the inside. In the houses, iron bars have been used to build countless iron cages, and the prisoners are placed in the iron cages. Each person occupies an iron cage. Can see other prisoners, allowed to speak, also allowed to sing and play in a low voice. The criminals who come here are not allowed to commit crimes that deserve to be executed. Even two quarrelsome or money-playing, as well as suspicious-looking, bearded, anti-Japanese elements, Japan sent to this killing field. This killing field not only kills people in and around Shuangcheng County, but also brings people here from Fengtian, Changchun, Harbin, Sanxing, Jiamusi and other places.Listening to the sound of the machine outside, people outside think that this is a newly established arsenal in Japan. No one knows that it is a killing field, but because Japan is very strict about this construction, let alone the people, it is how much trust the officials of Manchuria have in Japan. , and are not allowed to know, even ordinary Japanese people do not know. The food the prisoners eat here is not bad, three times a day of rice and white flour steamed buns, and no salt.Prisoners have to defecate once a day. If there is no defecation, Japan will never allow it. After defecation, Japan will examine the composition of the defecation in detail.Once every three days, the glass tube was made to suck blood, one cup of blood each time.Once a few days, the Japanese used a knife to scrape the ears and lips. After scraping, they looked carefully. There was also a rubber tube. The Japanese envoy took it and asked the prisoner to swallow it until the end of the rubber tube was on the left and right sides of the stomach. At this time, the Japanese pumped the rubber tube back, until the white thing in the stomach was brought out from the rubber tube, and they also carefully looked at the white thing. The blood sucked by the prisoners, the things scraped from the ears, and the things pumped from the belly were all taken by Japan.Prisoners who are in good health will have their blood drawn 15 to 6 times, and those who are not in good health will not be drawn after 8 or 9 times. The prisoner is asked to take a bath, so that the body is very clean after washing. The Japanese say again, saying that the prisoner is sick, so let's give the injection.Japan brought a large medicine needle, regardless of the head, feet, front and back of the body, all at once with hatred. After a few hours after the medicine needle was injected, the tongue could not speak well, and the whole body felt uncomfortable. Japan said that his illness was not good, so hurry up Pull it out, I don't know where it will go in the future. But when the prisoners went out to defecate, they saw a lot of men's shoes and women's shoes around the machine house... Last year, more than 300 people from the Zhuhe guerrilla area were carted away, and they disappeared. How many people were killed in this killing field? No one knows, not even the ones who came out of it (referring to the 16 people who rioted and escaped). They know that they often send people inside, three or two hundred a time. This is not like a big prison, and the lawsuit is settled. You can go out if you come here, but Japan treats them according to the same rules. I don’t know what use the blood drawn in Japan and the prisoner’s body are. Some say it is poisonous gas, because I don’t understand chemistry.Things like this should be studied.

Unfortunately, due to insufficient domestic and international knowledge of Japan's preparations for germ warfare at that time, this report did not attract enough attention. But the attack sparked fear on the Japanese side. Therefore, in November 1941, when the 731 Army was established, it chose the safer Pingfang District in the suburbs of Harbin instead of Shuangchengzi. And strengthened the military training of July 31 soldiers and civilian personnel. Liu Haitao entered the Anti-Union Cadre School to study, and then transferred to the Leningrad Infantry School. After returning to Yan'an in 1938, Liu Haitao was cordially received by Mao Zedong and Liu Shaoqi, and was sent to work in Shandong in the same year.At that time, Mao Zedong went to see him off in person.Liu Haitao was one of the founders of the Shandong Anti-Japanese Base Area.He successively served as the commander of the sixth and ninth detachments of the Shandong Column of the Eighth Route Army, and later served as the deputy brigade commander of the second brigade. The next year, he was promoted to the commander of the Luzhong Military Region. vibration. In November 1941, Liu Haitao led his troops to participate in the anti-"mopping up" and was surrounded by the Japanese army in the Wangshan area north of the embankment. In order to preserve his strength, he ordered the guard platoon and the youth battalion to break out of the encirclement separately. After completing the task of attracting the enemy, he, his wife Su Zhen, and social minister Zhu Yuqian and other eight people disguised themselves as Kuomintang officers and escaped from the encirclement of the Japanese army. At the time of Dujialin, east of Guanzhuang, he was trapped by the traitors Wang Liqing and Shi Shaowu pretending to be the Anti-Japanese Joint Defense Brigade. On November 25, eight people were killed in Sujia Village and sacrificed heroically.

It is worth mentioning that the two traitors who betrayed Liu Haitao both ended in disgrace. In March 1945, the Eighth Route Army conquered Mengyin and captured Shi Shaowu, the puppet captain who was stubbornly resisting;Wang Liqing fled. After the founding of New China, he fled first to Tianjin and then to the Northeast. However, the Tianjin public security department discovered by chance that his wife was pregnant for no reason, and based on this, it was determined that Wang had not been far away.Wang Liqing was finally discovered by the staff of the Public Security Bureau and brought to justice.

As the only anti-union general who may be able to break into the Japanese army's bacterial weapons testing ground, Liu Haitao may be able to smile at Jiuquan if he can tell the world about the enemy's crimes.
