只听商老太枯哑的声音说道：“剑鸣不幸为奸贼胡一刀所害，你既与他有同门之谊，就该设法报仇。今日遇上仇人之子，你兄弟俩却怕了外人，袖手不顾，这等不仁不义之人，活在世上何用？”王剑英道：“剑鸣师弟的死讯，我们今日才听到，更不知是胡一刀所害的。若是早知，自然已为他报了大仇。”商老太冷笑道：“你昧了良心，说这等鬼话。”王剑英说道：“刚才我手上受伤中毒，不也是为了……为了……”一言未毕，只听飕的一声，狗洞中射进一枝箭来，若非王剑杰眼快，抢上一步踏住，伏在地下的王剑英还得中箭受伤。 殷仲翔自长剑被赵半山震断后，一直默不作声，心想自己与此事全然无涉，却在这里陪着送命，也可算得极冤，问道：“商剑鸣造这座铁厅，想害什么人？”王剑英怒道：“这人跟先父学艺之时，为人就不正派，鬼鬼祟祟地造起这种房屋，还能安什么好心眼了？” 胡斐心想：“那商剑鸣打不过我爹爹，于是造了这座铁厅想来害他，哪知这个脓包还是死在我爹爹手里。”他心中想到，口里却不说话，四下察看，找寻脱身之计。 胡斐的推想却也错了。商剑鸣与胡一刀素不相识，他是与苗人凤结下了深仇，知道这位号称“打遍天下无敌手”的金面佛极不好惹，总有一日要找上门来，若是比武不胜，就可用这铁厅制他。哪知找上门来的不是苗人凤而是胡一刀。商剑鸣一向自负，全不将胡一刀放在眼里，一战之下，不及使用铁厅，首级已被割去。 这段仇恨商老太时刻在心，既知胡一刀已死，而他的儿子胡斐武功又极是厉害，眼见大仇难复，乘着赵半山与陈禹相斗、众人凝神观战之际，她悄悄与儿子出厅，悄悄关上了前后铁门，然后指挥家丁，堆柴焚烧。这座铁厅门坚墙厚，外面烧火，厅中各人竟未知觉，待得陈禹烧死在铁门之上，各人已如笼中之鸟，插翅难飞了。 众人在厅中绕走徬徨，好在那厅极大，铁门虽然烧红，热气还可忍耐。赵半山道：“咱们总不能在这儿生生困死，大伙儿齐心合力，掘一条地道出去。”殷仲翔皱眉道：“此处又无铁铲锄头，待得掘出，人都烤熟了。”徐铮一直担心未婚妻子马春花隔在厅外，不知有何凶险，他是个莽夫，空自焦急，想不出半点法子，这时听赵半山说到掘地道，大声道：“赵三爷说得对，总是胜过束手待毙。”拔出单刀，将地下的一块大青砖挖起，突见一股热气冒将上来。 他吓了一跳，伸刀在热气上升处一击，只听当的一响，竟是金铁撞击之声。众人更是惊诧。王剑杰道：“地底也是铁铸的？”用刀接连撬起几块青砖，果然下面连成一片，整个厅底乃是一块大钢铁。掘地道固然不用说了，更唬人的是，地面上的热气越冒越旺。 徐铮骂道：“妈巴羔子，这老虔婆在地底下生火，这厅子原来是一只大铁镬。”胡斐笑道：“不错，老婆子要把咱们九个人煮熟来吃了。” 众人眼见热气袅袅上冒，无不心惊。过得片刻，头顶也见到了热气，原来厅顶也是铁板，上面显然也堆了柴炭，正在焚烧。 王剑英突然又伏在狗洞之前，叫道：“商家弟妹，你放我们出来，我兄弟为你取那姓胡的小杂种性命。”胡斐听他出言不逊，提起脚来往他屁股上踢去。赵半山拉住他手臂向后一扯，这一踢登时落空。赵半山低声道：“这里大伙儿须得同舟共济，自己人莫吵，须得先想法子出去。”心想：“只要商老太肯放王氏兄弟，便有脱身之机。” 却听商老太说道：“小杂种的性命早已在我手中，何必要你假惺惺相助？再过半个时辰，你们人人都化成焦炭。哈哈，这里面没一个是好人。姓胡的小杂种，马老头子，厅上好风凉吧？” 马行空皱眉不答。商老太又枭啼般笑了几声，叫道：“马老头子，你的女儿我会好好照料她，你放心，我给她找一千个一万个好女婿。”马行空心如刀割，他年纪已大，对自己性命倒不怎么顾惜，只是独生爱女却落在外面，受这恶毒的老婆子折磨起来，那可是苦不堪言。 王剑英站起身来，在兄弟耳边说了几句话，王剑杰点了点头。王剑英向赵半山拱了拱手，说道：“赵三爷，咱们同在难中，兄弟可有句不中听的言语。”赵半山拉着胡斐的手，说道：“一切全凭王大哥吩咐。可是要伸手加害这小兄弟，却办不到。”原来赵半山见王氏兄弟交头接耳，已知二人为了活命，想先杀胡斐，再向商老太求情。 王剑英被他一言点破了心事，脸带杀气，厉声道：“赵三爷，商老太的对头只有这孩子一人。冤有头，债有主！大伙儿犯不着一齐陪一个孩子做鬼。”他向众人逐一望去，说道：“各位说冤是不冤？”殷仲翔立即接口：“除了这孩子，大伙儿跟这件事全没牵连。”王剑英道：“马老镖头，你怎么说？”马行空自忖商老太与己有仇，未必能放过自己师徒，但眼前情势危急异常，只有设法脱身先说，胡斐是死是活，原也不放在心上，于是说道：“王大爷说得是，此事原与旁人无涉。” 王剑英道：“孙大哥，你来赶这蹚浑水，那更是犯不着。姓陈的已经烧死，你与吕家小妹妹的仇已经报了。”孙刚峰觉得他的话很有理，只是心中极感赵半山之情，实不便公然与他作对，于是劝道：“
