On September 18, 1931, the Japanese Kwantung Army launched an incident in Shenyang, marking the start of a full-scale invasion of Northeast China with the capture of the Beidaying Camp. From then on, the military and civilians in the Northeast began a long resistance.Initially, the people in the Northeast pinned their hopes on Zhang Xueliang's Northeast Army and the Nanjing Nationalist Government, hoping that the government would take on the responsibility of defending the territory. However, the Northeast Army adopted a comprehensive non-resistance policy, and the Nanjing Nationalist Government blindly relied on international mediation. As a result, although there were many officers and soldiers of the Northeast Army who stood up to resist, it was still difficult to avoid the fall of various key points in the Northeast within a short period of time.Since then, with the support of the resistance forces in the pass, the people in the Northeast, who were unwilling to give in, spontaneously formed a volunteer army to carry out the war of resistance.Because the Japanese army cut off the connection with Guannei, and at the same time, the Volunteer Army also lacked a unified command, and there were many contradictions. In the end, most of the Volunteer Army disintegrated in 1933. The remnants cooperated with the Northeast Anti-Japanese Allied Forces, and some resisted until the 1940s.So far, all parts of Northeast China have basically fallen into the control of the Japanese army and the puppet Manchukuo supported by it.

At this time, the Northeast Anti-Japanese Coalition Army led by the Communist Party of China began to step onto the stage of history, calling on the people in various parts of the Northeast to fight against the enemy bravely. The Japanese army regarded "Manchuria" as its lifeline and sent heavy troops to defend it, brutally suppressing our country's resistance army and civilians. In 1940, the main force of the Northeast Anti-Japanese Allied Forces, which had suffered heavy losses, retreated into the Soviet Union, but some troops remained to fight in the Northeast and established underground organizations, which persisted until the victory of the War of Resistance. The spontaneous resistance of the Northeast people has never stopped, and the Northeast Army that entered the pass has also become one of the important forces in the all-out war of resistance.

In 1945, the Northeast Anti-Japanese Allied Forces and the Allied Forces broke into the country. On August 15, the Japanese army announced their unconditional surrender. The 14-year resistance in the Northeast came to a successful end.
