“我那仇家名唤甄海。其父乃是南宋末年一个福建的舟子，载客人飘洋浮海，遇风浪将舟卷向南海一座岛上。那里天生各种灵药甚多，无有食粮，便以岛中草果为食。有一天，无心中吃了一枝迷阳毒草，原是极热之药，为采补中的圣品。被他误服下去，立时欲火烧身，忍受不住。仗着食了三年草果，内中不少灵药，体健身轻，力大无穷，因为无从发泄，便在海水中泅泳解热。遇见一只母海豹，被他擒住。这舟子一沾生物肉体，越发欲火如狂，当下将那海豹擒上岸来，交合了二日三夜。虽然泄了欲火，人已从此瘫倒，不能行动。那海豹居然还有良心，每日衔些小鱼虾给他挨命。同时海豹已有了孕，到第九年上，生下一子，海豹随即死去。舟子因此子是海豹所生，取名甄海。此子幼禀异质，不但生而能言，而且出没波涛，行动如飞。由舟子教导，埋了他母亲，照样去采鱼虾草果与乃父度命。又挨过了十余年，舟子方才老死。甄海在南海流荡，忽然遇见异人，爱他质地，传了他许多道法，才有今日。”

到了那座荒岛一看，虎头禅师和二凤、三凤三人都已不知去向。金须奴回宫时，虎头禅师又未说明甄海所居之处。而且违约先走，其中难免不有差错，不由大吃一惊。二人一商量，甄海巢穴既相隔那荒岛不远，除了在附近海中搜寻外，别无法想。仗着二人都是惯于水行，踏波涛如履康庄，那一带的岛屿又不多，尚易寻找。二人在海中行未多时，忽见前面有一座大岛。近前一看，满岛都是瑶草琪花、珍禽异兽，景物幽秀，形势雄奇，颇似仙灵窟宅。因水上没查见什么异状，猜是到了地头，忙即飞身上去。那岛地面不大，方圆不过百里，高处望去，仿佛一目了然。二人分途搜寻，不消顷刻，便走完了一半，一点朕兆俱无。初凤暗忖：“二凤等如果来此，必与妖童对敌，绝不会没有一点踪迹。就说地方不对，这里花草有好些都经过人工布置，怎地没个人影？”正在焦急，忽见金须奴在左侧面山麓之下用手连招。忙着飞过去时，金须奴已不等她到，径往山下面的一个大湖之中钻去。
飞近一看，那湖位置正当岛的尽头，三面俱有山峰围绕，宽有十里，深约百丈，清可见底。水中养着许多海豹，正围着几道光华张牙舞爪，欲前又却，已有几个尸横湖底。初凤一见那光华，业已认出是自己人，无暇多观，正待飞身而下，金须奴已将那两道光华带起，飞上岸来。放在地上一看，正是二凤和三凤两个，被许多形如长带、又白又腻的东西捆了个结实，连试了许多法宝飞剑，俱斩不断。初凤看出那东西是纯阴之质，恐湖中敌人尚在，不便迎敌，只得夹了二人，驾遁光先回紫云宫。与慧珠、金须奴三人围定二女，运用玄功，施展三昧真火，连炼了三日，才将那东西烧断。所幸二女神志尚清，服了点丹药，便即还原，言动自如。一问原因，才知又是三凤招惹出来的祸事。
原来金须奴走后，三凤便不住向虎头禅师探听甄海虚实，除归藏袋外还有什么宝物。虎头禅师本无机心，便照直说，甄海曾得异人传授，所炼法宝俱无足奇，自己此番前去，一则为了报仇除害，主要还有别的原因，暂时不能明说。三凤知他必还觊觎甄海的法宝，便和二凤以目示意。想是被虎头禅师看出，恰巧金须奴和初凤又去迟了一步。虎头禅师在第三日之前，人便复原，他起初不愿人多，既要别人相助，又恐到时翻脸，和他要那朝夕梦想欲得的一部道书。一见三凤神色有异，急中生智，故意装作入定，忽然失惊，说甄海即将离海他往，去请能人，时机一失，不但制服不了，日后彼此俱有大祸。自己只得冒险前往，与甄海拼一死活，请二女在荒岛上等到金须奴约了初凤回来，再行同去接应。二凤因守金须奴之戒，还在将信将疑，力持等金须奴到来，再行同去；否则便请他说了地方，随后与他接应。三凤却是利令智昏，明知其中有诈，偏猜他只须守过三日，便无用人之处，想一人前去独吞，再三力说：“既是妖童将要他去，你一人势单。彼此都为报仇，无须再候大姊。”非一同前往不可。虎头禅师装作无可奈何，才行应允。二女也未看出。二凤知三凤性拗，拦她不住，又恐三凤有失，只得同往。因虎头禅师说，如能三人同去，手到成功，连催起身，什么都未顾及。
一到海岛上，果是日前妖童出来应战，二女更是深信不疑。谁知刚和敌人交手，虎头禅师忽然隐去。甄海已是觉察，狂吼一声：“大胆妖僧、贱婢，竟敢用诱敌之策，前来盗我仙书！”说罢，也不再和二女交战，径直飞入湖中。二女当然紧追下去。三凤听出虎头禅师果有私心，那仙书必是异宝，越发动了贪心。及至追落湖中一看，虎头禅师已将湖水劈开，左手拿着一个玉匣，另一手放出一道乌光，正和一个女子对敌。那女子已受重伤，兀自不退，见甄海飞落，只喊得一声：“艮兑带书走了。我受了这贼秃重伤，且去那边等你。切莫恋战，改日再报大仇吧！”说完，一道白烟冒过，便即不见。虎头禅师还想追赶，甄海已红着双眼杀上前去，将他拦住。三凤见虎头禅师手中拿着一个玉匣，也不知他那部道书到手也未。因为还在争斗，便恨不能早些将敌人杀死，好问个明白。偏那甄海虽在紫云宫受伤惨败，失了重宝，依然还有全身本领，玄功奥妙，幻化无穷，不似上次轻敌，一时半会儿不易取胜。同时又因这里是他巢穴根本重地，不舍丢失，只管拼命相持，并无退避之意。
斗到后来，甄海忽从身畔取出一个透明晶球，一脱手，便连人化成一团黄光，直往三人头上飞来。二凤、三凤的法宝飞剑竟失功效，只能围在黄光之外乱转，不能抵御。说时迟，那时快，黄光业已罩临头上。那虎头禅师一味敷衍应敌，原为诓他这粒身外元丹。一见诱敌计成，心中大喜，忙将长袖一抬，飞出千百道细如游丝的紫光，朝那团黄光射去。二凤、三凤见黄光临头，方觉一阵心慌神迷，那紫光业已射入黄光之中，只听咝咝连声，黄光立即缩小，只如碗大。接着又听一声怪啸，一道青光直往那座宫内飞去。虎头禅师早已防到，手一抬，先将那团下落的黄光收去，也化作一道青光，从后追赶，转眼同入宫内。等到二凤、三凤心神稍定，想追时，那座宫门业已紧闭，将二女关在外面，不得入内。恼得三凤兴起，连忙指挥空中法宝飞剑上前攻打。那座宫殿也不知何物制成，异常坚固，二女飞剑法宝攻上前去，眼看光华飞绕中，黄沙如雨，只管破碎，却是不易即时攻破。
待了一会儿，宫门自开，虎头禅师笑容满面飞身出来。二凤便问妖人何往？虎头禅师道：“仇敌已诛，大功告成，全仗二位道友相助。异日有缘，再图重报吧。”说罢，便要走去。三凤本惦着那部道书，此时又见他胸前袈裟鼓起，猜是又得了什么宝物，便没好气拦道：“禅师且慢！适才我
