Chapter 38 Extra Story Two Psychiatrists

I know there is a saying: mild cases should seek a psychiatrist, and severe cases should seek a psychiatrist.I can tell you very responsibly: that is wrong. In fact, many psychiatrists need the assistance of psychologists, or vice versa. Moreover, psychiatrists are not that simple division, in fact there are many kinds: there are physicians who specialize in organic psychiatry; there are physicians who specialize in disordered psychiatry; Chromosomal psychiatrists; sexual psychiatrists; neuropsychiatrists; psychopsychiatrists...etc. Some of these psychiatrists work across the board, and some work in a single field. At present, the most scarce in my country (except Taiwan Province) are sexual psychiatrists and chromosome psychiatrists (there are not many physicians in this field). The former is difficult for many patients to talk about or simply immersed in (such as sexual manipulation or sexual submission), the latter is the late start of genetic research in my country... And I want to explain: psychiatrists are a dangerous profession.

If the doctor's judgment is wrong, it is likely to aggravate the patient's condition and bring danger to himself - the direct contact. It is not uncommon for mental patients to kill doctors. If you don't believe me, you can ask a psychiatrist, and you can tell a lot. What's more, contact with mental patients for a long time will inevitably affect them, and many of them are fatal, such as committing suicide.Of course, you can say that you want to think about it, don't care about your own life, what's the big deal, and what will happen in 20 years. So to speak. But that's not sacrificing one's life, it's two different things. If a person doesn't even care about his own life, how can he care about other people's lives?Don’t tell me that you have attained enlightenment and become immortals, ended life and death, returned to Buddhism, packed up your burdens, and are always ready to escape from reincarnation and go back to the Paradise of Bliss (it’s true to escape from the sea of suffering, that’s just a metaphor, but how to participate in the actual problem of healing? baptism?).

I remember I mentioned a sentence in a certain article: There are not a few psychiatrists who later become doctors and mental patients. This is not my alarmist talk, this is a fact.I didn't write about some cases of mental patients, but it doesn't mean they don't exist. One is that no one wants to read it because it is not a medical report. The patient just sits there and laughs, and laughs at everything you ask.Or if I asked the other party for an hour, how should I write that sentence? There is also a patient whose logic and worldview are impeccable, and they can prove it to you. Many senior doctors are still stuck here and even become one of their followers. For that kind of example, I will definitely not write (the reason I think).

As for some relatively special mental patients, in fact, psychiatrists do not completely look at them from a materialistic point of view.Because many phenomena are too strange. For example, there is a patient who likes to draw, and the things drawn are quite complicated and no one understands them. The patient will explain patiently, and after explaining, many physicians are stupid—including his attending physician and psychologist. The content of his paintings, every independent object in each painting has an independent perspective to express. For example, in this painting there are flowers, clouds, trees, pedestrians, a river, and a bridge. The angle of looking at the flowers is looking up, looking at the clouds is looking down, looking at the trees is looking at it from the perspective, looking at people is from the perspective of flowers, looking at the river is close to the river surface, looking at the bridge is viewed from the perspective of the bridge structure .If you compare them one by one according to what he said, you will find that his paintings are very accurate, but why are they so accurate?Because he said that's what he saw.He can look up at a flower without squatting on the ground, and can look at the angle of the river without lying on the board. On this point, I don't know if there is such a school of painting, and I don't know if there are any painters who can do it.

This kind of example, which seems special to us, is not uncommon among mentally ill patients (in fact, this is the original motivation for me to write this post). Then again, since everyone has never seen this kind of situation, there is no need for treatment. Putting it aside for now, what is it that needs treatment? The mania of this multi-angle vision sufferer. After N times of failures, after the final consultation, it was analyzed that the multi-angle vision problem still needs to be treated, because the angles the patient sees are too complicated, and sometimes he can’t understand it himself, so he will become more and more irritable and have manic attacks. But until now, there hasn't been much progress, why?In the words of a senior psychiatrist: "Maybe his eyes are not human eyes." To put it bluntly: the cause of the disease has not been found so far.

For this patient's situation, many psychiatrists and psychologists are in awe.The cliché is very cliché: too powerful. The case just mentioned can still be manifested, although it is not the root cause. But not all mental patients can draw, not all mental patients can express, so what should we do?It depends on the doctors themselves to observe and contact for a long time.If you are a salesperson in a shopping mall, can you guarantee to treat the shopping customers patiently every day?If you are a flight attendant, can you treat passengers patiently every day?Well, let's stop assuming and talk directly about the doctor's problem. For patients, if you don't really observe patiently and study the patient's problems with great concentration, it will be useless to talk face-to-face for a year, because what needs to be entered is a person's heart! This, jumping out of the window without picking the lock, if there is, the psychiatrists will all cheer - finally relieved from the huge psychological pressure.

People's psychological endurance needs to be relieved and decompressed, even if they really like this job.Let me give you a more vulgar example: I have a friend who likes beautiful women very much, and later entered the film and television industry. The friend wanted to come out with all his heart, so he quit.I asked why, and he said that he was tired of aesthetics, and now his vision is extremely critical, and he can't even stand the existence of human pores, thinking that it affects the close-up aesthetic effect (I don't know how he can see pores). In his own words: the look is numb, it's terrible, and I can't see beauty or ugliness. (Additional note: Recently, this friend likes to go to the zoo to see crocodiles. It takes a long time to see them. I think he is dangerous.)

Coming back to the topic, psychiatrists deal with mental patients all day long, and it is only a matter of time before they get mentally ill. Those with better mental quality will divert the downward pressure-suffer from mild mental illness or paranoia.I'm not kidding, I'm telling the truth. I know a psychiatrist who treats the disordered type and likes to tear newspapers into strips about the width of a pencil. When chatting, when watching TV, just tear it up.The several blind dates introduced by the family failed because of this. It is reasonable to say that she is a pretty beautiful woman (later married to an orthopedic doctor). There is one more...forget it, let me not go around in circles, what I mean is: psychiatrists are really not that easy to do, not simply chatting and being OK, nor knowing a little psychology and philosophy (plus Quantum physics?) solves everything.not that simple. And what we do every day is not just chatting. It is not an exaggeration to say that entering this line of work is dedicated. It is a high-risk occupation. And that high risk is not easy to find - psychological problems. In addition to the news of some bad hospitals abusing patients, there will be negative effects on reputation... I am not writing this to rectify the names of all psychiatrists, but to rectify the names of those dedicated psychiatrists. At the same time, let me explain: this field is not as fun and interesting as many people think.

A real psychiatrist would never sit here and write this, because there is no time and energy, even if he had the time and energy, he would go out to play, relax, and spend time with his family, anyway, he would not sit down and write about himself work, that's crazy. If you don't believe me, ask a practicing psychiatrist and ask him/her to write this? You might get spit in the face for catching up with the depressed doctor lately. This is the end of the second extra chapter. I don’t know if it will be meaningful, but I suggest not to make a fuss and go to the hospital or find a doctor if you have some psychological problems—unless you go to a doctor for a sick person.Just prescribe it if you want, there is nothing to be excited about, especially since I am not a doctor or expert, there is really nothing to be excited about.
