本来孟元超乃是齐、杨两家所憎恨的人，他的母亲为了孟元超与她弟妇当年之事，对孟元超尤其不能谅解；但如今齐世杰却是不惜数千里奔波，甚至可能冒很大的危险，去救他们两家的“仇人”。虽然他因自小受母亲的影响，对孟元超的偏见也还未能完全消除。但如今他最少已经懂得，母亲憎恨孟元超的只是他的“私德有亏”，而他去救孟元超则是与侠义道祸福攸关的公事。
