Chapter 19 Chapter 6 Everyone Parting

When the days of joy and celebration are over, it is time for the partners to return home.Frodo went to King Elysar who sat by the fountain with Queen Arwen, and she sang Valinor's songs, and the sacred tree burst into beautiful flowers. They all rose to welcome Frodo, and Aragorn said: "I know what you come here to say, Frodo, and you want to go home. My dearest friend, the sacred tree can only bloom where the ancestors grew, but to you the whole of the West Your country will always welcome you. Though your countrymen have been insignificant in the legends, after you they will have a name more famous than many lost countries." "I do want to tell you that I am going back to Xia El,' said Frodo, "but first I must go back to Rivendell. If there is one thing I want at this perfect moment, it is my dear Bilbo. I find he has not come with Elrond I feel sorry for you!" "Ring bearer, do you have any doubts?" Arwen said, "You should understand the power of the ring that has been destroyed, and all the effects of it have already begun. Disappeared. Your friend has had this thing longer than you, and he is very old by the lifespan of his race. He is waiting for you, he has only the last strength left to make one last journey." " Then I must ask you to let me go!" said Frodo.

"In seven days we shall set out," said Aragorn; "we wish to send you far, even to the kingdom of Rohan. In three days Eomer will return to escort Theoden Return to the Kingdom of Hussars to rest in peace, and we will follow him to pay tribute to the dead. Before you go, I will explain to Faramir what I told you before. You can come and go freely in the kingdom of Gondor forever, and all your The same is true for partners. If I have any gift to give you, at least to express my gratitude to you, I am willing to give it to you; as long as you say, you can take anything away, and I will escort you with the etiquette of princes you.

Queen Arwen spoke: "I give you a gift. I am Elrond's daughter, and when he dies, I will not go with him. My choice is the same as Lucien's. Like her, I I have chosen this life of bittersweetness. But, Bearer of the Ring, when the time comes, you should take my place. If your wounds and burdens still haunt you, you should go to West Faerie and let All your wounds and fatigue are healed. Please wear this first to commemorate the Elf Gem and Evening Star that met you!" She took a white gemstone hanging from a silver chain from her chest, and tied the chain On Frodo's neck. "When fear and dark memories disturb you," she said, "this will give you strength." Three days later, as the Emperor had said, Éomer of Rohan rode into the king's city, and He came with the handsomest hussars of Rohan. He was received with great ceremony, and when all were seated in the feasting hall, he was astonished to notice the beautiful women before him. Before he rested, he sent for Gimli the dwarf, and he said to him, "Gimli son of Gloin, have you got your ax ready?" "No, my lord," said Gimli, "but If you need it, I can bring it quickly." "It's up to you to judge," said Éomer, "because we seem to have to resolve the assertion I made back then about the Queen of the Golden Forest, and now I have seen her beauty with my own eyes." "My lord," said Gimli, "what do you say now?" "What a pity!" said Eomer, "I still don't want to say that she is the most beautiful woman in the world. "Then I have to get the axe," Kimli said.

"Let me explain," said Eomer, "if I had seen her elsewhere, I would have granted you your wish. But now, I have to put Queen Arwen first, and I'm ready to fight for her, do I need to get my sword? "Gimli bowed deeply. "No, I can understand your point of view, my lord," he said, "you have chosen the twilight, but I love the morning light. I know in my heart that this morning light will soon fade from the world." Finally, the day of departure came. , an unprecedented grand farewell team assembled, ready to head north. The rulers of Gondor and Rohan came to the holy place, entered the tomb of Rathdinan, and they carried the body of King Theoden on a golden litter, and passed silently through the royal city. Then they loaded the stretcher into the tall hearse, surrounded by riders of Rohan and bearing the banners of his past.

Meili, who was an attendant, stayed in the car, taking care of the late king's body. The mounts of the other companions were also arranged according to the etiquette. Frodo and Samwise rode beside Aragorn, Gandalf rode Shadowfax, Pippin rode with the knights of Gondor, Legolas and Gimli rode together. Then he still rode on Harold. Queen Arwen went with her, and Celeborn and Galadriel with their people, and Elrond with her two sons, and the rulers of Dol Amroth and Ithilien, and many generals and knights. In the Hussar Kingdom, there has never been such a magnificent team escorting King Theoden's body this time.

Slowly they entered Anorion, and came to the Gray Wood by Amundine, and there they heard drums echoing in the hills, but saw no living thing.Aragorn gave the order to sound the trumpets, and the heralds proclaimed: "Listen, King Elisar is coming! He gave Gombrigon and his people the Forest of Druidon to be self-sufficient forever; henceforth no one may trespass on their land!" The drums thundered , and then disappears. After fifteen days' journey King Theoden's hearse crossed the prairies of Rohan and came to Edoras, where they all stopped. The golden palace was radiant, and the greatest feast ever celebrated was held there. The hussars spent three days and three nights preparing for Theoden's funeral. His body was placed in a stone house, and many of his weapons and treasures were placed in it, and a huge tomb was built on top of it. The mound is covered with green grass and Yongzhi flowers.Since then, there have been eight mounds to the east of the cemetery.

Then the royal hussars, on white horses, went round the cemetery and sang the verses that his bard Griowin had written for Theoden.Since then, Griovin has retired from the piano and never made any songs.Even those who did not know their language were moved by the song of the hussars, but it brought tears to the eyes of the people of Rohan, as if they heard Io and his people galloping from the north again. The sound of Thunder's hooves, and the sight of him shouting to join the battle on the Field of Celebrant. The legend of the king continues, the horn of the holy helmet returns to the soup in the mountains, until the darkness falls, King Theoden is reborn, passes through the darkness, steps into the fire, and dies gloriously on the battlefield, let the sun shine on the earth again with hope, shine Lu Anshan, the Ming capital in the morning light.

Break through doubts, wear darkness, face the light, draw your long sword, sing in the sun, rekindle hope, sacrifice yourself; surpass death, conquer fear, eliminate doomsday, overcome loss, conquer life, eternal glory! Merry stood at the foot of the green mound, weeping, and when the song was over he cried out: "King Theoden, King Theoden! Rest in peace! You treated me like a father, but that time was too short. Farewell!" When the funeral was over and the women's crying had died down, Theoden remained in his tomb middle. The people gathered in the golden palace to sing and dance, to forget the sorrow, and then, according to the custom, they must toast to the Hussar King; and Eowyn, the princess of Rohan, came out, she was as bright as the sun and white as the snow. , she handed a full glass of wine to Eomer.

Bards and historians came out and recited the names of all the hussar kings in order: Young Io, Brigo who built the palace; Edo, brother of Bado who is brave, Phrya, Phryaven, Godwin, Dio, and Gran; when the Hussars were taken, hid the Helm in Helm's Deep, and that was the inheritance of the nine mounds to the west.At that time, the bloodline was interrupted, and the west mounds followed: Nephew of the Holy Helm, Ferrelav, Leofa, Vada, Foka, Verkawin, Vanjer, Sejer, the last Greek Udon. When the poet read Theoden, Éomer drank the wine in one gulp, and all the people toasted the new king: "Long live, Éomer, King of the Hussars!" At last, when the banquet came to an end, EMer Standing up, he announced, "This is the funeral feast for King Theoden, but I will announce another good news before everyone leaves. I know he will be unhappy if I don't, because he My sister Eowyn has always been my daughter. Listen, gentlemen from all lands, I have never received such good guests in my halls! Faramir, Steward of Gondor, King Ithilien, Propose to Eowyn, Queen of Rohan, and ask her to commit herself to him, and she agrees, so they will be married in the presence of your witnesses." Faramir and Eowyn came out holding hands, and the three of them greeted the crowd with joy. Toast.

"In this way," said Eomer, "the friendship between the Hussars and Gondor has grown stronger, and I am more glad!" Said Aragorn, "How bold you are, Eomer! Give us the most beautiful treasure in the kingdom!" Éowyn looked into Aragorn's eyes and said, "Wish me happiness, my healer and king!" He replied, "Since I first Seeing you, I hope you will be happy forever. Seeing you have a good home, I feel even more gratified!" After the banquet, the people who were about to leave bid farewell to King Eomer.Aragorn and the knights, and the children of Lórien and Rivendell, were going away; but Faramir and Imrahir were going to stay in Edoras, and Arwen remained, where she and her brethren say goodbye.Neither of them saw Arwen the last time he met his father, because the two of them went to the mountain and talked for a long time in secret. The three said goodbye this time and never saw each other again.

At last, when most of the guests had left, Éomer and Éowyn came to Merri, and they said, "Farewell, Mr. Meriadoc of the Shire, hero of the hussars! Good luck to you , we welcome you back at any time!" Eomer continued: "Just for your heroic performance in Montenberg, the ancient kings will reward you with a cart full of treasures, but you said you don't want anything , as long as the weapons and armor given to you. I can reluctantly agree, because I really have no gift to match your performance and courage. But, my sister begs you to accept this as a memorial to you in Derheim , so that you can hear the horn of the Hussars when the morning light comes." Éowyn gave Merry an ancient horn, although it was small in size, it was hung with a beautiful green ribbon, and it also depicted horses The galloping knight, the whole picture goes around the horn all the way to the tip, and many powerful runes are carved at the same time. "This is an heirloom of our family," said Eowyn, "forged by the dwarves, found in the vault of the dragon Skathar, brought from the north by young Eo. Its man fills the heart of a friend with joy and terror in his foe, and all who hear will come to him." Merry accepted the gift, for he could not refuse the offer, and he kissed Éowyn's hands, they hugged him, and the three parted temporarily. The guests got ready, drank another glass of fine wine before mounting the horse, and left under the farewell and friendship blessings of all the people. Soon after, they arrived at Helm's Deep, where they rested for two days.Legolas kept his promise and went into the shining cave with Gimli, and when they returned he was silent, saying that only Gimli could find words to describe them. "The dwarves have never been able to win the elves in words before this," he said. "We must go to Fangorn Forest and let me win back!" They rode from the deep valley to Isengard, Found the treants busy, all the rocks were removed and the open space inside was transformed into a garden full of orchids and trees, with a small stream running through it.In the very center was a clear lake, in which the Tower of Orthanc still stood intact, its waters reflecting its dark surface. The travelers sat for a while at the place where Isengard used to be the city gate, where two tall trees like guards were planted, and it was also the starting point of the boulevard leading to Orthank.Everyone looked at the huge project in front of them in amazement, but they couldn't find any living things nearby. Then they heard Hum, Hum's voice, and Treebeard came to welcome them, with Quickbranch beside him. "Welcome to Orthank's Arboretum!" he said. "I know you're coming, but I was working in the valley, and there's a lot to do there. All I hear is good news, very good news!" Treebeard praised their accomplishments, as if nothing escaped his notice, and at last he stopped and looked carefully at Gandalf. "Wow, wow," he said, "you are the best in the end, and all your hard work has paid off. Where are you going now? And why are you here?" "My friend, I came to see your work." How's it going," said Gandalf, "and thank you for all your efforts." "Well, Hum, that's fair indeed," said the Treebeard. Hum, the tree-cutters who live here. Those blalu, those evil-eyed, black-legged, bent-hearted, bad-handed, stinky, bloodthirsty guys, morimaite-sincahonda Hum, well, since y'all are more impatient Man, it might overwhelm you all to finish their names; anyway, these bloody orcs. They crossed the great river, came from the north, and surrounded the whole Lorilin Dorian Forest, but they still couldn't get in, thanks to the two great friends here—" He saluted the two rulers of Lorien. "These damned guys didn't expect us to appear on Ward's side, because they haven't heard of us before, and there won't be many half-orcs who will remember us in the future, because we didn't let go of many, Dahe is Most of them were washed away. However, you are very lucky. If the Orcs hadn't met us, the King of the Prairie would not have been able to drive that far, and even if he did, he might have become homeless." "We all Know," said Aragorn, "Neither Edoras nor Minas Tirith will ever forget you!" "Forever is too long a word even for me," said the Treebeard: "You should mean that as long as your kingdom exists, you will not forget us. However, I believe that your kingdom will indeed exist for a long time, even us treants will think it is a long time." "New "The Era has begun," said Gandalf. "In this Era the race of Men may outlast you, my friends Fagon. By the way, and speaking of this, what is my task for you? Where is Saruman? Hasn't he tired of Orthank yet? I don't think he'll thank you for doing this garden for him." Treebeard looked at Gandalf for a while, and Merry thought he could almost see the wit in his eyes. "Ah!" he said, "I thought you'd mention that. Tired of Orthank? He got really, really tired of it in the end, but it was my voice, not the tower. Hum! I told a good long story, at least, for your language." "Then why did he stay and listen? Have you entered Orthank?" asked Gandalf. "Hom, no, didn't go into Orthank!" said the Treebeard, "but he went to the window and listened, because he had no other way of knowing what was going on outside. Though he hated how it turned out, he was very much Wanted to listen, and I knew he listened to it all. Also, I added a lot of things for him to think about, and he got very tired afterwards. He was always in a hurry, and that was his big flaw.” "My dear Fangon, I noticed," said Gandalf, "that you speak of the past, and now? Is he dead?" "No, as far as I know, he is not dead," said the Treebeard : "But he has left. Yes, he has been away for seven days. I let him go. When he crawled out, he was no longer human. As for the servant, he was no different from a wild beast. Don't preach, Gandalf, I know I promised you to watch over him, but then things were different, and I watched over him till he could do no more evil. You know I hate captivity more than anything, if there is no absolute I don't want to imprison even such a fellow if necessary, and a serpent without fangs should be free to come and go." "Perhaps you are right," said Gandalf, "but the serpent has one tooth left, and that is His sweet talk. I think, after he knew the weakness in your heart, he even convinced you, Treebeard. Well, he's gone, there's nothing to say! Orthanc Tower now has to go back to the Emperor , though he may no longer need it." "We shall know later," said Aragorn, "but I will give this valley to the Ents to do with them, if they will keep Orthank from People are entering without consent." "It's locked," said Treebeard, "I asked Saruman to lock it and give me the key, which is now with Quick Branch." Quick Branch seemed to be blown by a strong wind. Like the old tree, he bent down and handed Aragorn two finely carved black keys, held in the middle by a steel ring. "Once again I thank you both," said Aragorn. "I must bid farewell to you, and may your forests grow in peace. There is plenty of room on the west side of the mountain when this valley becomes crowded. Take advantage, you have walked there before." Treebeard's expression became very sad. "The forest may grow," he said. "The trees may reproduce, but the Ents won't. We have no young Ents. "Perhaps you can still find your target," said Aragorn. "The East, which was closed long ago, is now free for you to come and go." Treebeard shook his head: "It's too far away. In this age, there are already Too many humans. Ah, I forgot etiquette! Perhaps you would like to rest here? Does anyone want to take a shortcut home through Fangorn Forest?" He looked at Serveporn and Galadriel. All but Legolas said they must leave, and go south or west. "Come, Gimli!" said Legolas. "By Fangorn's favor, we may visit the depths of the Treant Forest, and see the most beautiful trees in Middle-earth. You shall keep your promise and me. Come together, and then we can go back to our hometown in Mirkwood and after that." Jin Li agreed, but it seemed that he was not very willing. "The Fellowship of the Ring is finally disbanding!" said Aragorn. "I hope that you will come back to help me with the manpower you promised!" "As long as our King agrees, we will definitely come." "Gimli said: "Goodbye, my good hobbit! You should be able to go home safely, and I don't need to worry about your safety all day long. As long as we have the opportunity, we will find a way to contact you, Perhaps we shall meet again in the future! But, I think, this is the last time we will all be together." Treebeard bid them farewell one by one, bowing to Celeborn and Galadriel with great respect. Three bows. "We haven't seen each other for a long, long time, A vanimar, vanim dragon nostari!" He said, "It's a pity that we will meet at this ending, the world will change again, I can see from the flow of the earth, river water and air I don’t think we’ll ever have a chance to see each other.” Celeborn said, “I don’t know, oldest senpai!” But Galadriel said, “Not in Middle-earth, even if the seas change We shall not see each other again. But perhaps one day we will be able to live in Tasharenan. This is the longest-lived tree in Middle-earth. It was born before the elves, and it will last forever. In this era See you in the willow grove in Spring as they will be called by Men in the ages to come. Good-bye!" At last it was time for Merry and Pippin to say goodbye to the old Treant, and he was evidently glad to see them both. "Well, two happy little friends," he said, "would you like to have another drink with me before you leave?" "Of course," they said.Treebeard brought the two of them under a tree, and they saw that a huge stone vase had been placed here. Treebeard filled three bowls, and the three of them were going to drink it up.But with his strange eyes, he looked at the two children from the side of the bowl, and said, "Be careful! Be careful!" He said, "I see that you have grown up a lot!" The three smiled and put the bowl There was not a drop left of the drink in it. "Well, good-bye!" he said, "but if you hear anything about the Tree Wife, do let us know." At last he waved to everyone and went into the woods. The people galloped at a faster speed, heading towards the pass of Rohan.Just where Pippin had peeped curiously at the hedrons of Ozark, Aragorn had to part with them at last. The hobbits were reluctant to leave, and Aragorn had never failed them, and all had traveled far and wide together. "I wish we could get a hedron, so we could see our friends anytime," said Pippin, "and even talk to them!" "There are not many hedrons to use," answered Aragorn : "You probably don't like the images of Minas Tirith hedrons, and the hedrons of Orthanc Tower will be kept in my hands to watch what's happening in the whole kingdom and what his subordinates are doing What. Peregrin Took, don't you forget that you are still a knight of Gondor, and I have not ordered you to retire! You are only temporarily suspended, and perhaps I will find you back someday. Dear friend Shire Do not forget, my kingdom, also, my kingdom, and I will return one day." Then Aragorn said goodbye to Celeborn and Galadriel, and the Queen said to him, "Elfstone, you have gone through So much darkness, I can finally get my wish, let’s make good use of these days!" Celeborn said: "My brother, goodbye! I hope your ending is different from mine, and your treasure can stay with you forever!" Everyone parted like this Well, it happened to be sunset at that time, and after a while, when everyone looked back at them, the Western Emperor was riding a fine horse, surrounded by his knights. The afterglow of the setting sun sprinkled on them, making all the armor reflect golden red light, and Aragorn's white cloak turned into flames. Finally, Aragorn held up the green gem to say goodbye to everyone, and a green flame shot straight into the sky from his hand. Soon, the team, which gradually dwindled in number, passed the pass westward along the Eshin River, entered the wasteland behind, and then they walked north and crossed the border of Dunland. The Dunlanders fled, for they were afraid of the Elves, though the Elves seldom came to this country. The group didn't care about their reaction, because there were still a large number of people in the team at this time, and there was no need to be afraid of any threats. So they walked as they pleased, pitching tents where convenient. On the sixth day after they parted from the Human Emperor, they passed through a forest, and the misty mountain range was on the right. When they came to the plain again, they met an old man with a cane in the light of the setting sun. He was wearing tattered gray clothes, and it was hard to tell whether he had ever been white before. At his feet was another hunched, groaning beggar. "Good Saruman!" said Gandalf. "Where are you going?" "What does it matter to you?" he answered. "Are you still going to order me? Or is my corruption not enough for you?" "You know the answer—" said Gandalf, "No, no. But my efforts are over, and the next burden The Human Emperor has taken over. If you wait for him in Orthanc Tower, he will show you what it means to be "wise" and "magnanimous." "Then I should leave as soon as possible," said Saruman, "because I don't want anything from him at all. In fact, the answer to your first question is: I'm trying to get out of his kingdom." "You're going in the wrong direction again this time!" said Gandalf, "so You cannot get out. Do you still refuse our help? We will be happy to assist you." "Me?" said Saruman, "No, do not smile at me! I would rather you frown at me. As for this queen, I don't trust her, she has always hated me, and planned my end with you. I think she must have brought you here on purpose, ready to laugh at my fall. If I had known you were behind , I will never let you have your way." "Saruman," said Galadriel, "we have other more important tasks, and we need not waste time looking for you. You should consider yourself lucky, Because you still have one last chance." "If this is really the last chance, I will be very happy," said Saruman, "so that I don't have to keep rejecting it in the future. My hope is gone. But I'd rather have that than share it from you, and even if you had it, I wouldn't care." There was a sudden gleam in his eyes. "Come on!" he said. "I have spent so much time researching the historical materials and it was not in vain. You have drawn the end for yourselves, and you know it well. When you destroyed my dwelling, you also destroyed Your own homeland; just thinking about it made me feel better when I was wandering. What kind of ship will be able to carry you across such a wide ocean this time?" He laughed. A gray ship full of ghosts." He laughed, but the voice was hoarse and obscene, and it felt sinister. "Get up, you white suspect!" he yelled at another beggar who was sitting on the ground, and beat him with his cane. "Turn around! If these good people want to go this way, then we'll go the other way. Hurry up, or you won't have any dregs to eat for dinner today!" The beggar bent over and muttered to himself: " Poor Grima! Poor Grima! Always beaten and scolded. I hate him so much! I wish I could leave him!" "Then go!" said Gandalf. Wise Talk just gave Gandalf a terrified look with cloudy eyes, and then hid behind Saruman in horror. The two wretched fellows came slowly up to the hobbit, and Saruman stopped and looked at them; but they looked back at him sympathetically. "You little friends came to laugh at me too, didn't you?" he said. "You don't care what beggars lack? You're well fed, you're warm, you have the best tobacco in your pipe. Oh, I thought Yes! I know where that comes from. Will you, kind gentlemen, give the beggar some tobacco?" "If only I had it," said Frodo. "You can take what I have left," Merry said, "but you'll have to wait." He bent down to examine the contents of the saddlebag. Then he handed Saruman a small skin. "Take it," he said, "I found it from the ruins of Isengard, you can take it!" "My, my, ah, this is all bought for a lot of money!" Saruman Grabbing the skin, he shouted: "This is just a symbolic compensation. You took more, and I will remember it. However, even if the thief only gives him back a little, the beggar must still be grateful. Humph, wait for you Going home, I knew when I found out that the situation in the southern district was not good, and you may not have high-quality tobacco leaves in your hometown for a long time!" "Thank you!" Meili said, "If this is the case, then I will take the skin Take it back and forth. It is not yours, and it has been with me for a long time. You can wrap the tobacco leaves in your own rags." "You steal mine, and I steal yours." Saruman turned his back on Merry, kicking the tongue, walked towards the forest. "Well, yes!" said Pippin, "the fellow is a born thief indeed! What do you say about kidnapping us, wounding us, and sending Orcs to drag us all across Rohan?" "Ah!" said Sam: " And how did he get it for so much money? I didn't like the way he said it when he got to the South End. We should really go home!" "I agree," said Frodo, "but if we want to see We can't go any faster, Bilbo. Anyway, I must go to Rivendell first." "Yes, I think you'd better do it first," said Gandalf, "what a pity Saruman! I Thought he might be lost, he's broken to the bone. Still, I'm not sure Treebeard is right, I figured he could still play tricks and do some bad things." The next day, they entered In the north of Dunland, although it is green, there is no human habitation.September brought golden days and silvery nights; and they came easily to the Swan, and found the old ford, just east of the falls that fell into the lowlands. Everyone looked to the west, and they could see many lakes and sandbanks in the confusion, all the way to the Huifan River, where countless swans lived among the weeds. Then they came to Erejan, and at last, standing in the camp on the hill in the early morning light, the party saw the eastern sun shining on the three high peaks, which were Karalance, Serabdi Er and Pharaoh, they came at last to the gates of Moria. They wandered here for seven days, because there was another unbearable parting before them.Soon after, Celeborn and Galadriel will lead the people east, through the Redhorn Pass, down the Dimrill Stairs, to the Silver River, and back to their hometown. They walked the long way to the west, for they had much to discuss with Elrond and Gandalf, and at the same time they wanted to talk more with their friends.Often, after the hobbits had fallen asleep, they would sit by the starlight and recall the days gone by, and what they had given and received in this world.Sometimes, they will seriously discuss and think about the future. If any traveler happened to pass by, they would see only the gray figure carved out of the rock, recording the things of the uninhabited wasteland, but he could hear nothing.Because they don't talk with their mouths, but with their hearts. When their thoughts are back and forth, only their eyes will shine. At last, when all is said and done, they must part again, until the time comes when the Three Precepts are gone. The people of Lorien melted into the mountains like gray shadows, and the people who were going to Rivendell watched from the hills. There was a last flash of light in the mist, and everything fell silent. It was Galadriel, Frodo knew, holding up her ring at last to bid farewell to them all. Sam turned his head away and sighed: "I wish I could go back to Lorien!" One evening, they finally came to a high place; the valley of Rivendell suddenly appeared in front of them, and Elrond's dwelling in the distance shone. light. They went down, across the bridge, to the door.To welcome Elrond's return, the whole house was filled with laughter and light. The hobbits were too busy looking for Bilbo before they even took off their clothes. They found him sitting alone in a room littered with papers and pencils and dip pens, and Bilbo himself before a small flame in the hearth. He looked very old, very peaceful and sleepy. When the crowd broke in, he opened his eyes and looked around. "Hi everyone, yes!" he said. "You're finally back? Tomorrow is my birthday too! You guys are so cute! Did you know that I'm going to be one hundred and twenty-nine soon? If I'm lucky, I'll live as long as old Tuke in another year La! I'd love to beat him, but no one knows for sure." After celebrating Bilbo's birthday, the four hobbits stayed in Rivendell for a while, spending most of their time in the old friends around.Bilbo was in his room almost all the time, except at meals, where he was very punctual, and could always wake up in time for dinner.Sitting by the fire, they took turns telling him what they remembered of their journey and adventure. At first he pretended to copy notes: but often he would fall asleep, and when he woke up, he would say, "Great! Great! Where were we?" and they'd start nodding from him Start that paragraph again. The only thing that kept his spirits up to listen was that of Aragorn's coronation and marriage.
